Cute house and well appointed with many extras that made our stay comfortable. The location is great. We really enjoyed the nearby beach at Lake Michgan. The house is also on a very nice walking/bike path.

Every room felt clean and cozy, with comfortable furniture and stylish touches that made it easy to settle in and relax. It was the perfect place to spend a few days away. This is a cute little house located in a beautiful spot! It is close to Lake Harbor Park, which has climbing dune access and a walking path down to the beach. The home was mostly neat, however, immediately upon our arrival, there was a strong smell of natural gas. I contacted the owner immediately, and they told me others had smelled it, some had not, but that it was not an issue. However, anytime we would keep the windows closed, the smell was very strong. Therefore, we left the windows open the whole time. Further, the washing machine did not work. I also contacted the owner about that. She told me it was finicky and to keep trying. However, we never could run a successful load, which is a bit disappointing when your clothes are wet and sandy from the beach… And there were no clean bath towels. It also made me wonder how clean everything was that had been previously washed. At first, the owner was responsive quickly, but then seemed to not care about our issues, and literally just stopped communicating. That part was stressful, but if they can fix the natural gas smell and the washing machine, this is a great place to stay, and I would definitely recommend!

Lindsay was very kind to allow us an early check-in so we could store perishables and head to the beach, which we greatly appreciated. The house itself is cute, well-labeled, and stocked with spices, which shows effort and thoughtfulness. That said, the property was not in the condition we expected for a rental. The freezer had a layer of brown debris with a frozen teether in it, and the fridge drawers were dirty, which I had to clean myself. The futon room was missing both blankets and a pillow, requiring a run to the store. The house had a musty odor (later explained by a roof leak during rain), and despite closet labeling, there were no beach towels available. Shower soap was missing, the towels provided were thin and undersized, and only a roll and a half of toilet paper for 5 people - so another run to the store on the last night. Additionally, there is another rental on the same property that looks directly into the main house, so privacy is limited unless blinds remain closed. While the location is nice and the host accommodating with timing, the condition and missing essentials made this far below the standard of other rentals I’ve stayed in. With upgrades and more thorough preparation, this could be a great property, but as it stands, I would not recommend it.
