I enjoyed my five-week stay at Astoria Hotel, primarily because of hospitality, professionalism, and respectfulness of the staff. I also especially enjoyed the restaurant’s included breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet option. The location was ideal for me as I was conducting research at the Maharashtra Archives but also near other important Mumbai sites. I stayed in two different rooms; the second one featured beautiful gold blackout curtains, apparently new. My only recommendation would be to install more electrical outlets for those guests who need to do computer work while staying there. The lobby and eventually the dining room were being remodeled (they moved the dining room to another space temporarily), and I will look forward to enjoying those renovations should I return. There seemed to be a lot of construction in the neighborhood with a new Metro stop being built nearby and a building next door, and that coupled with the interior renovations (which did not inconvenience me at all) seemed to speak of a growing and thriving Mumbai. I recommend this hotel to any traveler who wants to stay in the heart of Mumbai at a reasonable rate for a big cosmopolitan city.

A clean hotel close to local train station
The hotel is located at a very convenient and centrally located only 5 min walk to Churchgate station. Flora Fountain and Nariman Point sea front 15 to 20 minute walk. the staff at the hotel are helpful and polite. The breakfast served is mostly Indian but boiled eggs and omelletes of your choice is prepared and served by staff at your table.The staff at the reception, dinning area and the cleaners are pleasant and helpful. My stay at the hotel was very good and this is why I returned here again.

Hotel location is good when you have work in Town area. Staff is friendly and helpful. Was given a room which had nice and new washrooms. Only area to improve is the Wi-fi connnectivity in the room, which didnot work for me.

Very clean and conveniently located
Our stay at the hotel felt like being at home. The staff were courteous and helpful. A good selection of Indian and continental breakfast was served everyday. The hotel is conveniently located close to Churchgat train station and a short distance from the buzzing Flora Fountain with a selection of good shops and street traders offering menswear and household goods. I enjoyed my stay hence already booked a few more days!👌😀

The staff were very nice, and the room was fine. A decent room for the price. The only flaw in our experience was that the hotel was not able to take a cash payment of 2000 rupees for a 1500 rupee meal, because they 'didn't have change'. This created a need for us to pay with credit card, which we didn't want to do. Otherwise, the food was outstanding at the restaurant, and the hotel was very nice. Great location near the terminus of one of the main subway lines, too!

Very old building but kept very clean inside. Limited breakfast compared to another hotel we stayed at in Mumbai this trip. Hotel staff very friendly, but the defective room safe was not fixed despite assurances by the front desk. No bar, but in a great location. Many reasonably priced cafes, restaurants, bars and shops with in a few minutes walk. Good for exploring the 'old' town with historic buildings, marine drive, beach, etc within 20mins walking distance or a short taxi ride away.

Nice hotel near the Marine drive beach.
A very very clean hotel. Staff very friendly, flexible and helpful. Got to check in at 8am instead of 11am since the room was available. Breakfast was mostly Indian. Room was big and spacious. Lots of restaurant. A supermarket, Train station just next to the hotel.

Fantastic location
Service was genuine, friendly and warm. Shower in bathroom could do with improvement in drainage and water flow. Bunding to prevent water flow to dry areas was insufficient and needs to be fixed.

Great location, all that you would expect from a 3-star hotel. It's a great place to be located for location and pleasure, plenty of taxis available outside to get you around all over South Mumbai!

Spacious room, very clean toilet and bathroom and nice restaurant with good food. Perfect for business stay. Only issue i faced during my entire stay was 3G of my mobile didnt work till the time I am inside the hotel and moment I stand infront of the hotel...it works. I dont know the reason behind it. Hotel is near to beach and moment we move to the road we get the taxis very easily. There is a subway opposite to it. I would have liked the hotel better if it had a business centre and a wide lobby. Overall it was a good hotel that I can surely recommend or even stay when i come next time.

Brilliant location in the heart of Colaba, but on a street that's not hectic or noisy. Lovely comfy beds and a great power shower. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff are helpful and always on hand - not necessarily the smiliest but definitely willing to help and efficient. Some work was going on around the hotel but it generally felt pretty lux. Also a good breakfast! I think it's a great value hotel and would definitely recommend to others.

a five star service from a 3 star hotel
This was my first visit to India. I had two free days in Mumbai after a business trip in the north of the state. I looked for a hotel with a good location and reasonable reviews.I eventually settled for the Astoria. I arrived at around 10.00pm and was informed that my room had been upgraded. A great start. The room was a very spacious and comfortable suite with all the usual amenities including a very comfortable bed and great pillows. The wi-fi connection is reliable and good.The location is excellent and there are several "must see" heritage sights within minutes walking distance from the hotel.Even the Gateway to India is a comfortable 15-20 minute walk. The hotel staff are very quick to respond if anything is wrong. I thought that I had a problem with the TV and air conditioning. On both occasions a member of staff came immediately. On both occasions I had simply not used the correct switch!! I ate in the hotel restaurant on two of my three evenings. I tried the buffet which was reasonably priced and although the choice was more limited than in higher grade hotels, the food was very good. I also tried the Goan fish curry off the a la carte menu which was excellent. Staff in the restaurant are efficient,courteous and friendly. I cannot speak too highly of the reception staff. They were very professional and helpful throughout my stay. On my last day they ordered me a taxi for the airport. I left the hotel at 7.00am to get my flight at 9.45am. Perfectly fine boutique hotel in Mumbai
This hotel is in an old building, restored with some vestige of former decrepitude evident. Charming. Really! Updated decor is in good taste, and the lobby is very contemporary and comfortable. Food is reasonably priced and good. Includes great buffet breakfast. Try chicken fried rice or veggie noodles when you need a break from spice. Free Yfi in the lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location with access to major points of interest. I am an old India-hand, and staying in this slightly upscale place was a new thing for me but I was with a group from Europe. I liked it, and it held up, way above the following experience in a 5-star place in Delhi that was obscene in the add-ons and absurd pseudo-luxuries. I look for human scale in a hotel, and i found it here.

Solid Stay in good location
Pros: Clean well kept rooms, helpful staff and a very central location. The hotel is a very short under 5 minute walk from Churchgate station. Security guys arranged a good car to airport. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice of Indian food and some Western choices. Laptop in lobby for guest use also very useful. Very good value for money in Mumbai. Cons: No Channel 10 Cricket on the cable, strange for a hotel in India.

This is a great hotel in many ways. Good location and well maintained but the thing that lets it down is the staff. They are not bad but they just dont have the polish that the rest of the hotel does have. They would be more comfortable in a one star up a side lane.

Hotellet var ren, personallet var høflige og hjelpsomme, frokost var god. Hotellets beliggenhet var veldig sentralt. Men....det luktet ny maling på rommet som var kjempe ubehagelig. På dagtid var det total umulig å hvile grunnet arbeid på nabø rommet. Det var mye riving og mye støy, helt umulig å oppholde på rommet. Internett var ikke veldig raskt og av dårlig kvalitet.

The hotel was fine compared to other options in Mumbai, where good hotels are quite expensive. The staff was friendly and eager to solve our problems quickly. The room was clean, but the walls really need fresh paint. All fine so far. Unfortunately, due to a construction site right next to the hotel (Dec. 2017), the noise during the day was unbearable. It went on from 9am until the evening. Resting in the room during day time was just not possible. Quiet at night, though.

Als Ehepaar mit Tochter und Ehemann waren wir 4 Tage im Astoria. Zimmer gut und ausreichend ausgestattet. Bad und WC absolut in Ordnung. Auf einer Freifläche neben dem Hotel waren tagsüber ab und zu Pumpgeräusche zu hören, da Wasser abgesaugt wurde. Frühstücksbuffet war gut und ausreichend. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für die gute Lage in Ordnung.

Liegt in Colaba und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß ereichbar (Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, Marine Drive). Zimmer sind sauber, Essen in Ordnung. Personal sehr komisch und machte teilweise einen unmotivierten Eindruck. Wünsche beim Frühstück wurden erfüllt, nachdem man einen wiederwilligen Blick des Personals begegnet ist. Beim Check In fand ich mich verloren und habe mich nicht als Gast gefühlt. Insgesamt ok, würde evtl nach einem anderen Hotel das nächste mal suchen.

Das Astoria liegt im Zentrum Mumbai's ca. 1,5 km zum Gate of India Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Pickup Service vom und zum Airport wurde organisiert (Hotel hat eigentlich keinen Tourist service). Zimmer und Bad war sauber. Badausstattung hätte bei dem Preis besser sein können.

The hotel is well maintained and comfortable, the rooms are very spacious - western style level is upper 3 stars. The location is excellent, the staff is helpful and meals are very good and affordable.
