Perfect location
This little studio is just perfect for one or two people. It’s cozy and modern with everything you need and pet friendly. It’s in a great neighborhood that you can walk or ride your bike around to many restaurants and parks. There’s a lovely patio area to sit outside. It’s a short drive to the beach or downtown Charleston. I enjoyed my stay.

Great winter getaway
I stayed at Joe's cottage for 10 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. He has a small number of cottages in the area, and a lot of people are repeat visitors, for good reason. Nice accommodations, great location, and very friendly/helpful host. Thanks, Joe. See you next year.

Travel Job Stay
Joe’s place worked out very well for me and my dog. The location is very close to just about anything you could want- the beach, restaurants, weekly farmer’s market, etc. Also just a short trip across the bridge to downtown.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at the studio with my dog. The cottage is attractively furnished & decorated with a comfortable bohemian vibe. Everything was fresh and clean. The kitchen appliances are great, & Joe (the owner) said he’ll be adding some essential utensils. There’s even an outside grill! The furnishings, including the memory foam bed, are all very comfortable, & there are plenty of pillows & extra blankets. The bathroom has lots of towels, a hairdryer, & bountiful hot water. Cleaning appliances & basic cleaning supplies are provided. The internet is fast & dependable. The HVAC unit works very well, but I kept the two, small, unscreened bedroom & bath windows & front/back doors open to enjoy the beautiful weather. The small living room window doesn’t open, but Joe said he might replace the windows with larger ones. The lovely fenced, private, back patio is shaded by a big tree. Pets can safely explore it without worries of escape. The neighborhood is safe, clean, & walkable with little noise from nearby Rt. 703. There are at least five groceries within 10 minutes. For boaters, there’s a public dock within two blocks. There’s more than a month’s worth of culture, nature, & history within an easy 15-to-30-minute drive! Lastly but certainly not least, Joe is an exceptional host. He is very responsive & takes great care of his properties. I would gladly book the studio again, & I would highly recommend Joe’s properties to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!

This is our second time staying here, this time for 33 nights. It is a great cottage in a perfect area, close to everything, very walkable and bikeable. We wanted to book the same month for 2024 but sadly, someone booked before we could.

Location, value, amenities, host -- EXCELLENT
I stayed in Joe’s Shem Creek Studio for over a month, and it met or exceeded every expectation. I was able to work remotely and had a great base for exploring Mount Pleasant, Charleston, and surrounding locations. The place is pretty much exactly like the photos. The full-size washer and dryer and the kitchenette were really handy. Joe and his wife are attentive, gracious hosts. Since I was traveling with my dog, I found the TWO outdoor areas to be a real plus. The studio is located in a very nice neighborhood, and I felt very safe taking multiple walks a day, even after sunset. You have access to a number of restaurants and coffee shops. And YES to real cable with live local stations and fast internet! Plus the house in front is available for larger groups. Would love to stay here again.

Lovely Studio in Shem Creek
My wife and I stayed with our two dogs for a month in Joe’s lovely studio. It’s small, but nicely laid out and has a back and front yard for the dogs to run around. And the neighborhood is wonderful to walk around. From the creek to old town Mount Pleasant, it was always fun to walk. And lots of restaurants close by. Joe is very nice and helpful. Went the extra mile and got my wife a desk when she told him she was working from home. Had a great time here!

We absolutely loved the little studio! It was walkable to the cutest coffee shop, pizza place, and Shem Creek seafood restaurants. We loved the dolphins and pelicans at Shem Creek park. We had to leave 10 days early to avoid winter weather, and close on our new house. We are hoping to return soon!

Holiday Home Away from Home
My husband and I came down with our two pups for Thanksgiving. It was so beautifully done and the perfect size for us. It had all the things you need. The outdoor patio space was so nice. The location of this cute villa is perfect. So many wonderful places close by to eat and we took several walks with our pups in the welcoming neighborhood. We will be back!!

Had an amazing time staying in Mount Pleasant! The studio is close to many places to eat and just a short drive to Charleston if wanted. Stayed in more then going out just to be on the side, so it was super nice to have all the outdoor space. Plus, we were able to just let our 2 dogs run around and not have to be worried about them getting out of the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Joe’s studio. He was an excellent host--the apartment was stocked with cleaning supplies, common household items, and comfortable linens. We brought our beagle and the yard was perfect--safely fenced in so no worry of escapes! Joe even left dog bags in a compartment on one of the fence posts--super helpful! We work from home and Joe was very accommodating to our needs. All of the instructions were very clear and we had no trouble retrieving the keys and gaining access to the studio upon our arrival. As for the interior of the studio, the murphy bed was an excellent use of the room--we had plenty of space. The interior design was delightful and soothing--much appreciated! The ac worked perfectly and all of the appliances were seamless. Overall, a fabulous stay!! We will be returning for sure!

Property was clean. Great location! AC wasn’t working well but my husband cleaned the filter then it worked fine. The only thing I would recommend is maybe an umbrella for the patio area and a couple extra coffee mugs.

This comfortable studio space had easy clean finishes and upholstery during these virus times! The private courtyard and shared yard made it pet friendly. It is convenient to the old village, downtown Charleston,. and nearby beaches and a wonderful visit to my favorite childhood places. Owner was very helpful!

Amazing location in Shem Creek!
My husband and I stayed at this property three nights and loved it's safe neighborhood location and convenience to several excellent restaurants within walking distance. The kitchen had a full-size stainless fridge and the bed was comfortable. We took advantage of the kayak rentals nearby. We also enjoyed having coffee in the studio's private backyard, each morning.

The location was marvelous of course, as pointed out by pretty much every reviewer. Two other things that rated high with me were the private fenced yard for my pup and actual cable TV - - so many places are Netflix-only now. Not that we spent a lot of time inside, but after a long day of fun, it's nice to just be able to turn on the TV. The furnishings were great and there wasn't one thing we needed that wasn't available. Highly recommend.

It was terrific to stay in such a peaceful place in the center of Mount Pleasant. After months of isolation we just wanted to relocate and work from elsewhere, this house was perfect. I could set up my workstation outside under the beautiful cedar tree and work comfortably on even the hottest day. Our dog LOVED the private fenced in yard and mornings running on the beach in Isle of Palms. We will surely be back.

Great Charleston Long Weekend
We had an amazing long weekend in our favorite city. We loved the studio in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant. It is a perfect location to walk to great restaurants and shops and also conveniently located between Sullivan's Island and downtown Charleston. The studio was the perfect size and it was great to have a full sized refrigerator and kitchenette during our stay. It is very well decorated and clean and we enjoyed having a private patio and a side yard for our dog to run around in. We will definitely be back for another trip soon!

The Artist Cottage is a great location, in the middle of everything we wanted to do in Mount Pleasant! We walked to dinner at a few great restaurants in the area and took a Lyft/Uber to go wander Charleston. Highly recommend this property. It was perfect for my husband and I while we were there for a long weekend celebrating our 25th anniversary. Would definitely stay here again!

Cute place in a great location
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the cottage, and loved that it was dog friendly for our doxie. We ended up having everything we needed, and the owner was easy to reach, and quick to help. Shem Creek is adorable, with plenty of eating and shopping within less than half a mile walk from the cottage, and we found this location to be a lovely alternative to the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston, while still being convenient. This was our first VRBO/airbnb experience, and this place had a few quirks (the bed and the size of the bathroom sink) but based on our experience here, we would stay again.

Perfect Place
Perfect Place to stay for exploring all that Mt. Pleasant and Charleston have to offer. One to two blocks away are local eateries to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The Boardwalk at Shem Creek was an awesome place to enjoy the outdoors and within walking distance. Kayak, paddle boards, fishing, or just a leisurely walk to watch the sunset and dolphins. A short drive to Downtown Charleston...or take the Water Taxi from Patriots Points...we really enjoyed this and would highly recommend it. Locating the unit was a challenge but once we found it...it was like a hidden treasure.

Amazing location!
Great location! Absolutely perfect place for proximity to downtown Charleston, Shem’s Creek and Sullivan’s island. We rode the bikes to everywhere in Shem’s Creek and even to Sullivan’s Island. Make sure to go to Red’s Ice House during the daytime on the weekend to see the dolphins

We had a great time in Mount Pleasant, Charleston and at Isle of Palms, and Sullivans Island! I loved this property. Joe was a great host and was available for any questions we had. We enjoyed the private back patio after a long day of sightseeing. We also loved the convenience of many great restaurants in walking distance. The bed was very comfortable which is very important to us!
