Unbelievable views, lovely house, generous hosts!
My wife, two young children, and I visited for a total solar eclipse. We were completely blown away by the beautiful guest house, but especially the absolutely stunning views of the mountains. It would be hard to overstate how incredible it was to wake up to the view we had every morning. Marianne and Bob were extremely responsive and generous, and gave very detailed and solid advice when asked about how to make our trip successful. It was a really special visit with a lot of snow on the ground, and we are eager to come back and stay again in the warmer months!

Incredible view in amazing modern cottage
I didn’t really want to leave it. Just cuddle up under one of the many blankets and enjoy the view. It had all the amenities you could want and a few more. Some of the woodwork on the doors and furniture is incredible! Highly recommend.

Best Experience You Will Have
The listing does not do this property justice. Although the pictures are not only accurate and beautiful, this property offers so much of a real mountain experience that you can only get by coming here! My family which consists of 2 little boys 2 and 4, had a blast playing in the snow and staying warm inside the house. Marianne is so attentive to detail and is very accessible and even checked on us before and after a winter storm to make sure we had everything we needed in case of emergencies. Overall this has been my favorite experience with any rental that we have booked. Marianne's place will be a definite yearly return as long as it is available!!!

Heavenly Wedding!
Craig and I returned to Above the Clouds to get married!! High School First Loves reconnecting after 42 years! It was the perfect location to say our vows! Marianne and Bob were extremely helpful with helping us pull it all together! Thanks for the memories!

What a gem!
This place is gorgeous and the hosts are excellent communicators, gracious, and helpful. I especially enjoyed the outdoor shower and the panoramic mountain views from most windows. I’m looking forward to my next stay!

Amazing views
My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay at this beautiful house. Marianne and Bob were the friendliest host that offered tons of suggestions for best places to bike/hike/shop/eat. The house is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. We’ve rented plenty of places to stay over the years and this was definitely the best one yet. Their attention to detail was exceptional, from the details they put into the build of the house, to the thoughtfulness of the items they have in the house for their guests. We look forward to coming back!

My girls and I loved this place. Upscale furnishings, smart layout, well stocked and fantastic view. Very comfortable and private yet convenient to the ski areas. Host is a great communicator and super helpful. All you need to do is show up. We’ll be back!

Lovely mountain retreat
Marianne and Bob’s cabin was absolutely lovely and made for the perfect weekend getaway for our family of five. The house was immaculate and mountain views were absolutely breathtaking. It is situated at the top of hill and is approximately a 25 minute drive to Sugarbush for skiing. I’m sure this home makes for a wonderful retreat in any season.

Amazing time and incredible views!!
We stayed at Above the Clouds II over NYE weekend and it was such a magical place. We brought our two young boys and my mom. It easily slept 5. The views were even better in person — totally spectacular. We even spotted a rainbow across the valley! It was close to Stowe Village and Waterbury and we enjoyed exploring the area, but mostly just relaxing and being outside. I'm sure it's also great in the warmer weather. Marianne and Bob are great hosts. Highly recommend! We can't wait to go back!

Best VRBO stay we have experienced!
Marianne and Bob were extraordinary hosts - from leaving treats for us, to endeavoring to make the guest experience a luxurious and relaxing one! Where to begin! Spa towels and robes, special bath products, a thoughtful book collection and inviting rug to curl up on next to the fire. This is a relaxing retreat with inspirational views of the mountains. The gourmet kitchen is stocked with every spice you can think of, special vinegars, coffees, teas, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and even pancake mix and local maple syrup. The bedding is of the highest quality, and waking to the sunrise view from the bed is an inspiring way to start your day. You can truly appreciate the thought that Marianne and Bob put into the design of this space, with its warm woods, stone, natural elements, and furnishings that are aesthetically pleasing and provide a beautiful backdrop for the real star - which is the view. We hope to return!

" Above the cloud" This is exactly as described. It has very peaceful solitude with breathtaking view. You don't need to hike the mountain to see the beautiful fall foliage and sunset. Just stay at " Above the cloud" and you will see it all. The house is decorated very thoughtfully with simple and elegant way. We felt very warm and cozy like home. The host Marianne and Bob are very kindhearted couple. They go above and beyond to make sure their guests feel comfortable during the stay of their property. They treat us like friends. This place is truly a gem !! Highly recommended.

Perfect for our Wedding Elopement - Highly recommend
We could not have been more happy with our stay at Above the Clouds. Everything was perfect from the amazing views to the meticulously kept rooms of the home. We stayed there for our elopement, but we certainly look forward to returning in the future to enjoy the space and the surrounding mountains. The hosts, Marianne and Bob were spectacular. Ahead of our arrival, Marianne went out of her way to provide us with tons of information about the area and answered all of our questions promptly and in great detail. During our stay, both Bob and Marianne made sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay the best possible experience.

What a fabulous place. Our stay at this unit was practically perfect. The owners have put so much thought into their unit, they went above and beyond in all the amenities as well as informing us about all the surrounding area, and you really cannot find a better view!

Amazing house!
Above the Clouds was the perfect getaway! The house was exactly what we were hoping for. It made us feel secluded in the mountains yet close enough to town for food, necessities, etc. And the views from the how was as picturesque as described. Marianne is the ideal host and we appreciated the attention to detail throughout the house to ensure we had the ideal stay (e.g., detailed instructions, labels so you know where everything is, even leaving a crib and baby bath for our infant son). We highly recommend Above the Clouds to anybody looking for a quiet getaway.

Stunning Property, Accommodating Hosts
We loved staying in Marianne and Bob's guest home for our first family vacation with our 18 month old. Marianne and Bob helped baby-proof the place before we arrived, and provided gates to keep our toddler off the stairs. They checked-in with us daily to see if we needed anything to make our trip more enjoyable. The home is wonderfully prepared, with helpful labels and instructions, and gorgeous furnishings throughout. And the views are unbeatable! We expect to return for another trip soon!

Beautiful location with excellent hosts
The house is exactly as advertised with an amazing view over the valley with mountains in the backdrop. Bob and Marianne are genuine people who made us feel welcome and were very attentive to all the little details that make a stay so enjoyable. From the wonderful balcony to the firepit and bbq, they paid great attention to making sure we had what we needed. The only point I would highlight...the door to the bathroom is a beautiful piece of wood that has a knot hole right in front of the toilet. If all the guests are not super close, it could be a privacy issue. This is a small concern in my mind but just something to be aware of :). Thank you for calling attention to the hole in the door as that makes me realize I need to label something else in Above the Clouds! Maybe you noticed the little pillow hanging on the wall next to the toilet that was labeled "Privacy Pillow." That's there to fill in the hole :O) I used to point that out when I gave in-person welcome tours. When we switched to self-chick-ins during covid, I thought I covered it in the Welcome Book. Your comment made me realize I should also put a note on the door. Very helpful! Please let me know if there is anything else you can think of that we can do.

Amazing Experience!
We absolutely loved our stay at Above the Clouds in VT. The owners, Bob and Marianne couldn't have been more helpful in providing tips for things to do, answering our questions and just being all around pleasant people, who put us completely at ease. After our trip to Above the Clouds, we felt restored, recharged and ready to face the daily grind again with renewed energy! We plan to visit again soon!

Brian and I had such a wonderful time here above the clouds. The comfort, in such a natural way, is provided with such care for the environment as well as comfort for guests. Well done Marianne and Bob! The view was breathtaking, even through the raindrops, and watching the storm roll in was an invitation to enjoy the many windows, curl up under a blanket by the fire with a cup of coffee and with each other. All of the personal touches of this retreat made me feel like I was right where I belonged. Just a really lovely place that I look forward to returning to.

Incredible stay at Above the Clouds II
We had a fantastic four days at Above the Clouds II! Words cannot describe just how beautiful this guest house is, and there is nothing like waking up each morning with a panoramic view of the Vermont mountains. Marianne was incredibly responsive, providing us with tips for swimming holes, places to eat, hikes and so on, and when we arrived, there was a complimentary bottle of wine along with snacks (cheese and chocolate!) waiting for us. The location in Moretown is perfect — close to great food and restaurants in Waitsfield and Stowe, but a quiet and lovely retreat for when we tired of being around summer crowds. Our kids (ages 13 and 10) especially enjoyed the rope hammock near the edge of the property, and picking from the raspberry and blueberry bushes along the sides of the driveway. We loved every minute of our stay, and can't wait to come back!

Perfect getaway in unbelievable location
This guest house redefined vacation for our family! The attention to detail was remarkable, and there was so much to do on property, it was well worth the cost of our stay. This is indeed a special place. The views are lovely, no matter the weather, and one can’t help but relax and ogle the peaks and clouds. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped and everything is of excellent quality. We spent a week ogling, reading and hiking. We would love to return.

Raises the bar
Hard to put into words just how amazing our stay was. First of all, the pictures do not do this space justice, the views of the green mountains at sunrise are simply stunning. The guesthouse was so cozy and clean, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. Great isolated location, but close enough to great eating, drinking and hiking in the Mad River Valley. Marianne and Bob's attention to detail is amazing, they really thought of everything to make our stay as relaxing as possible. We constantly found our questions being answered without even having to ask, and they are quick with a recommendation for the best dining, and hiking in the area. 5/5 for location alone, but Bob & Marianne truly raise the bar for hospitality. Easily the most relaxing and stress-free trip I have ever taken. Thank you!

Exquisite in every way
Our stay was perfect! The accommodations were unique, upscale, tasteful and comfortable, by owners who had thought of everything. The view is to die for, and makes you feel far away from the troubles of the world, yet the property is close to conveniences and attractions. 24/7 Awesome Panoramic Views
This is an amazing guest house perched on the top of a mountain looking to the western views of the green mountains. Awesome sunrises, sunsets and starry nights. The perfect place to relax for couples and small families. The home is beautifully appointed with furniture, linens and a toasty gas fireplace. The surrounding communities have many hiking trails, shops and restaurants. We chose to cook our meals at home- the kitchen is well appointed and a lovely space for cooking. Hosts are highly attentive to their guests. Already booked for next year!

I’ve been trying to find a way to put into words just how wonderful this property is. There aren’t any words. It doesn’t just stop with the beautiful house(which is breathtaking), it’s the experience as a whole. The biggest factor in that experience is the hosts. Marianne and Bob have gone to great lengths to ensure you have everything you could possibly need. The attention to detail with their hospitality is impeccable. The house is stocked with things that you would expect if someone actually lived there, not just a vacation rental home. To sum up my review, PERFECTION. This was the most relaxing trip we’ve been on. Hats off to you, Marianne and Bob. Well done!!! P.S. If you like astrophotography, this is an amazing spot! Very little light pollution. Beautiful Milky Way shots!

This place is awesome. We knew it was going to be special when we drove up to the guesthouse and the view included the Green Mountain range to our west (which made for great sunsets!). Marianne, the owner, immediately came out of her house (which is on the same property) to greet us. She and Bob were great hosts - they sent us lots of suggestions for activities, dining and watering holes. In addition, they would check in daily, via VBRO messaging so it was not intrusive, to ensure we had everything we needed. The actual guesthouse where we stayed was furnished so tastefully, and they put a lot of thought into ensuring we were comfortable and pampered. The kitchen has everything you could want (and given COVID we cooked dinner there every night), there was lots of firewood for the fire pit, and anything you might need Marianne and Bob had already considered (bathrobes & slippers, bug spray, suntan lotion, extra chargers, fully stocked picnic basket, games, VT books, and the list goes on and on). If traveling to the Stowe, Waterbury, Warren area, I would HIGHLY recommend you stay here. You will not regret your decision and most likely also will not want to leave!

The Perfect Couple's Retreat
When we first arrived, we were absolutely blown away by the amazing views in every direction! The deck is gorgeous, the area quiet and peaceful, the furniture comfortable - everything we desperately needed to fully unwind and enjoy our escape from the Boston area and the current insanity. Marianne was very prompt and responsive with all of our questions and had a plethora of suggestions and recommendations, and thought of absolutely every little detail, making this our absolute favorite Vrbo/Airbnb we've stayed at. We cannot recommend this enough and hope to visit again soon!

Peaceful retreat with a stunning view
This was a wonderful place to spend a week. The guesthouse is beautiful with a comfortable bed and nice furnishings throughout. There were large windows and a deck to enjoy the great view of the valley and mountains of central Vermont. The outdoor shower was an unexpected delight. The house was also stocked with amenities and little extras which provided everything we needed. The setting was quiet as it's a mile down a rural road (in a good way). The hosts were delightful with great communication before arriving and very helpful with suggestions during our stay. Close to mountains, skiing, rivers, hiking. Within 20 mins of Waitsfield which has a good selection of restaurants and shops. Highly recommended - among the top tier of VRBOs where we've stayed.

We LOVED our stay here!! The house was amazing and everything (and more!) was provided for us. Marianne and Bob were so thoughtful in the way that the house was set up - with the beds being arrangedhow we wanted, beer ready in the fridge, games delivered to our door and a warm greeting from Marianne when we arrived!! And of course, the warm, delicious cookies were a lovely treat!!! We can’t say enough positive things about our stay here 😊 We hope to come back very, very soon!!

Fun Family Ski Oasis! Amazing Views
Cozy Chic Scandinavian design with thoughtful details throughout. Loved all of the eco friendly touches- bathroom had the coolest skylight with mirrors along the side so that the view was reflected. Kitchen was stocked with really nice appliances. Great mudroom for ski storage. Kids slept downstairs which was perfect. We would definitely come back and will recommend to our friends!

A little Slice of Heaven!
No need to express what has already has been expressed. If you have read every other review, they are completely accurate. It is a beautiful, cozy, well-kept place, with every convenience and a view next to none. The owners are wonderful and anticipate everything. The house is centrally located between Montpelier, Burlington, and Stowe; with several other quaint towns along the way. The house is better than advertised and there is no need to hesitate. You will be happy.

What a place!
Our stay was absolutely incredible. The house is even more beautiful than the photos suggest - and Bob and Marianne are so warm and anticipate every possible need. While there are some cute towns and great restaurants nearby, plan to spend plenty of time relaxing and enjoying the space. We will certainly be back.

Beautiful location and great views
We had a great time and thought our hosts did a fantastic job. For those with small kids, just be aware that there are no interior doors. The main floor is one large space with no separation. This is not a criticism, it is just something for people with small children to be aware of.
