Find hotels in Moratinos from £33

The best area to stay in Moratinos is within the village itself, particularly around the historic centre.

Moratinos is a small, traditional village, so the "best area" is essentially the village core. Here, you'll find the charming, narrow streets, the Church of San Tirso, and the general store. The appeal lies in its quiet, rural setting and the proximity to the bodegas – the unique underground wine cellars carved into the hillsides. These are a defining feature of the area.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find Moratinos ideal. Staying within the village allows for easy, short walks to explore the local architecture, enjoy the quiet pace of life, and visit the traditional bodegas for a wine tasting experience. The area offers a genuine taste of rural Spanish life.

For those travelling as a family, staying within Moratinos means children can experience a slower pace and enjoy the open spaces around the village.

When it comes to visiting Moratinos, the best time to go is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

During spring, the countryside around Moratinos truly comes alive. The fields are green, wildflowers are in bloom, and the temperatures are pleasantly mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This makes it ideal for walking or cycling along the Camino de Santiago, which passes directly through the village. You'll find the weather comfortable for exploring the local vineyards and enjoying the outdoors without the intense heat of summer.

Autumn offers a similar appeal with comfortable temperatures, usually between 10°C and 20°C, and the added beauty of changing leaf colours. This season is great for those who enjoy a more relaxed pace and perhaps a bit of local wine tasting, as it coincides with the grape harvest in nearby regions. The cooler mornings and evenings are great for long walks and enjoying the local cuisine in a cosy setting.

While summer (July and August) is sunny, temperatures can often exceed 30°C, which might be a bit too warm for extensive outdoor activities, especially for those not accustomed to the heat.
