We planned this getaway to see the amazing dark sky in this area and we were not disappointed. We visit the Blue Ridge and the Shannondoah Valley quite often. However the scenery on the way to this property was breathtaking. Not like anything we have seen before. The apartment is upstairs, so it may not be ideal for the "weak kneed" lol! There are windows on every side of the house. We opened them For an awesome breeze.The master bed and pillows very comfortable. I slept through the night. The front porch is awesome to sit and drink your coffee on. Nothing fancy and just what we wanted. Owner was very nice, responsive, and answered all questions that we had. If you want to get away from the city and get away from over commercialization, this apartment and the Highlands area are great. Our hosts were very communicative and helpful! The apartment has windows facing all four cardinal directions and that was really nice! Super comfy couch too, and beautiful wooden furniture. Nice gas stove and oven with roomy living room with games checkers, puzzles, TV with Hulu access. I would say the only down side coming from a city slicker is the strong smell of iron in the shower water. Also because it’s along a country highway you can hear the traffic. But a really neat place and three bunks really four actually for the kids. There’s a neat boutique shop and eggs and meat store below worth checking out.
