A real find in a stunning location.
An absolute find in this beautiful part of the Karoo. The atmosphere and style is that of a traditional Game Lodge. The food is excellent with a team to match. There are several designated walks within the estate for all levels of ability. The one thing we noticed is how immaculately clean the whole place was, with the pool being the cleanest we've experienced throughout our travels in SA. The only downside is that there is no A/C in the bedrooms (there's a ceiling fan), which can make it a little hot during the night. I guess one could open the windows and allow the air in, but the mosquitos tend to come along too.

A lovely stay in a beautiful estate! Very comfortable accommodation, beautiful surroundings, and excellent food, served with a smile :-) Small gestures, like the self-made Limoncello, were much appreciated.

Great transformation of historic buildings with a well earned 5* rating. The service provided by the well trained staff is exemplary. The restaurant food is of a very high standard. The dining area is located to the rear of the property looking over a part of nature the Hotel Management are diligently caring for. A stay at this property is highly recommended. I fully intend to return

Set in a beautiful quiet location just outside Montagu, this olive estate is the perfect place to stay if you want peace and relaxation. Our room had a fantastic view over the countryside. The staff were helpful and food excellent. Wished we’d stayed one more night

Amazing food, relaxed environment in the mountains
We were recommended Galenia and really glad we made the detour to go. Set on a huge estate (that was hit by fires in Feb but already been rebuilt) that’s just outside of Montague in the mountains. Really chilled vibe, they do daily tours of the olive farm, they have the cutest donkey Caesar and some ostriches, you can borrow a bike or chill by the pool. Staff were lovely and what really surprised us was the quality of the food. One of the best dinners we have had to date on our trip and we have been lucky enough to go to some really high end restaurants. Four courses including the nicest lamb I think I’ve ever eaten. Minor downside was we had bad weather when we were there and even though they taught us how to make a fire in our room we still got a little cold in the night. I would definitely recommend though

Beautiful estate
Galenia is a beautiful estate with beautiful views. It was very quiet when we stayed there, we probably would have preferred a few more people. The town of Montagu could be skipped however, it is not the prettiest of places. There are some very beautiful places to see in South Africa. This is a place to relax in, take in the views and read a good book. The food is excellent also.

Ostriches in the olive groves a nice touch. Staff really good and attentive. Food and drink good really good. Offer of a olive oil tasting experience which was informative

Very nice hotel and room, comfortable beds. Superb view on the mountains. Very quiet. Superb breakfast. Very helpful staff, knowledgable of the region and helpful with suggestions. Nice trails in the vicinity of the hotel. We whiched we could have stayed longer.

A real find - outstanding!
Totally wonderful. Attention to detail is what makes this place really special. Unusually for this time of year we woke up to rain. Outside our door someone had placed an umbrella so we would not get wet on the way to breakfast. Dinner is not served here but breakfast is outstanding. Our hostess was happy to recommend local places to dine and to make bookings. Also each room has a private terrace with table and chairs if you wanted to bring a picnic. Lovely pool and great walks on the property. .We will go back

Lovely stay for our first day in South Africa
We received a lovely welcome by the hotel owners who were very helpful throughout our stay, the views from the rooms are incredible and very peaceful, the breakfast was very nicely presented and was very enjoyable, without a doubt If I was ever in Montagu again I would book Les Haunts, I would say the location is a little away from the town but easy to find and easy to go into town if you had a car.

Nice guest house but out of town and no dinner
Beautiful spot underneath the mountain and with great views across olive trees towards Montagu. Bedroom was pleasant, but bathroom disappointed- one tiny basin shared between two! Biggest issue was that the French owners have now discontinued dinner. They recommend three places in town and Jessica's, the one we chose, was fine. It's just that after a long drive (which will apply to many) to have to drive into town and back again after a glass or two was not good. for this reason we wouldn't stay there again

Great find!
We were looking for a place to overnight between the Garden Route and a safari near Ceres and happened on Les Hauts online. We had an exceptionally good experience. The hotel is part of a working olive farm which is also owned by the hotel proprietors. As the name implies, the atmosphere (and most of the clientele) are French, but no problems there. The setting is magical, looking out over mountains, the town of Montagu (about 3 km away) and rows of olive trees. We had a number of breakfasts on our trip, but the one served at Les Hauts was the best in terms of variety and presentation. Service at breakfast was a little curt, but forgivable, that. The room is comfortable - charming, with a thatched roof - and the outdoor shower was actually a significant benefit. There are a number of walks that can be taken on the property, and we found ourselves regretting that we only booked a single night there. Really, we feel fortunate indeed to have stayed at Les Hauts de Montagu.

Sehr schön gelegenes Hotel in wundervoller Landschaft. Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, Service erstklassig, Zimmer sauber, hell, freundlich und sehr liebevoll dekoriert. Mit kleiner Terrasse und Blick in den wundervollen Garten. Frühstück excellent. Die Stadt Montagu selbst bietet jedoch sehr wenig und ist unserer Ansicht nach keine Reise wert.
