Rupa Rupa High Jungle Eco B&B

10/10 Excellent
"We loved our stay at this place. The steps to get up to the hotel is intimidating but there is a secret elevator that can take you up most of the way through Gringo Bill hotel (learn to use this, very important). The hotel is situated on the hills right above the main square so very convenient once you get down. The room was very nice with good hot shower and water pressure. I would definitely consider staying here again on future trip. We did not have the breakfast but it look very basic."

8/10 Good
"Comfortable bed with a great view of the river and mountains. The jacuzzi bath was a nice touch after a day of travelling. Good shower and spacious room. Breakfast room has a wonderful view also- buffet is fine, good choice, nothing spectacular. Hotel is well located for train station and for catching the bus to Machu Picchu. However, wear ear plugs if you don’t want to be woken up at 5am when breakfast starts. The commotion of this starting and shortly after the cleaning of some rooms ( very loud at 6am right outside our door) meant a disturbed and shortened night sleep unfortunately. The overall welcome and check in/out was all a bit impersonal and felt a bit odd. Not even a “how was your stay”, which seemed strange."

Soraypampa Sky Dome Camps

Soraypampa Sky Dome Camps

10/10 Excellent
"I gave this stay excellent ratings across the board because, while it wasn’t a luxury hotel experience, they did an amazing job with what they have in such a remote location. The domes were clean, warm, and ready for us on time. The staff was very attentive and seemed to be constantly working to make sure everyone had hot water, clean facilities, warm bedding, and good food. They also offered inexpensive home-cooked meals, plus fun little extras like snacks and hot cocoa for our family. The location is what really makes it special. We had breathtaking views of Humantay and Salkantay Mountains right from our domes, and there was very little light pollution, so the night sky was beautiful. This is a small business with limited staff, and we really appreciated how hard they worked to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience in Soraypampa."

8/10 Good
"I liked the location, it’s a little farther away from the train, so you don’t get as loud of a disruption when it comes through every hour. The view was beautiful, and it is close to the drop off point for the consettur bus when you get back from Macchu pichu. The room was clean, my only problem is that my room specifically had problems with getting hot water because the knob was broken. There was a maintenance person that came to fix it, but it went back to being cold almost immediately. I liked how they had breakfast options that were included and how attentive the hotel staff were."

"This is one of the best properties me and my husband have stayed at. We loved the tranquility of the property and being in nature surrounded by lush beauty, a vast array of birds, the sounds of heaven, and in the womb of Pacha Mama. The food and service were excellent as well. We would definitely stay here again. Lovely!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Mollepata?
The best area to stay in Mollepata is directly in the town centre, particularly around the Plaza de Armas. This central area offers convenient access to the town's limited amenities, including small shops, local eateries, and the main bus stops. It's the hub of activity, where you'll find most of the guesthouses and a few small hotels. The Plaza de Armas itself is a pleasant, open space great for observing local life. For trekkers, staying in Mollepata centre means you're at the primary starting point for the Salkantay Trek. Many guesthouses here cater specifically to hikers, offering early morning breakfasts and sometimes even transfers to the trailhead at Soraypampa.
When is the best time to go to Mollepata?
The best time to go to Mollepata is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.During these months, you'll experience clear skies and less rain, making trekking conditions better. The days are generally sunny and mild, with temperatures that are comfortable for outdoor activities. This period is ideal for those planning to hike the Salkantay Trek or explore the surrounding Andean landscapes, as the trails are less muddy and river crossings are more manageable.Even within the dry season, June, July, and August are particularly popular due to the consistent good weather. However, this also means these months can be busier, so you'll want to book your accommodation and trek permits well in advance. For those who prefer fewer crowds while still enjoying excellent weather, May and October offer a good balance.
