"Great stay at this lovely Adobe hotel just off the square. Very nice staff and easy checkin. Breakfast was terrific. The WiFi in the room would probably not be adequate for anti g more than email and simple web pages but it was better by the office. Easy parking on the street"

"We stayed one night and it was great. Comfy, Clean, pretty. But mostly our host/ manager was so kind and very helpful with dinner recommendations. Just generally a very nice person. We asked where a grocery store was so we could get water for our drive and he just gave us a large bottle to go. I’d stay again if in Cachi. The dinner recommendation also was perfect! Great food. Thank you!"

La Merced del Alto

La Merced del Alto

10/10 Excellent
"Great location just outside the city with privacy, quiet and wonderful Mountain View’s. Staff was very helpful with getting information on the driving conditions on Route 40. We were there during a quiet time. A few staff did a lot of work. Grounds are very nice. Pool needed a bit of maintenance but that wasn’t important to our group of 6. Dinner was nice. Breakfast was very good. The whole place is a little older but we enjoyed the charm and the environment. There’s a large common area where one can sit for drinks or games or a rest. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Molinos?
The best area to stay in Molinos is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main square, Plaza General Manuel Belgrano. This compact village offers a relaxed pace and a genuine sense of the Calchaquí Valley. The main square is the heart of Molinos, surrounded by historic buildings such as the beautiful San Pedro Nolasco de los Molinos Church and the Hacienda de Molinos. The streets are generally unpaved, giving it a rustic, authentic feel, and it's easy to explore on foot. For couples looking for a tranquil escape, staying near the plaza is ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of the few local restaurants and craft shops, and the historic surroundings provide a romantic backdrop for an unhurried visit. It's a superb base for exploring the local vineyards and enjoying the stunning mountain scenery.Solo travellers will also appreciate the convenience and welcoming nature of the village centre. Being able to stroll to a local eatery or simply sit by the plaza and observe daily life offers a pleasant and comfortable experience.
When is the best time to go to Molinos?
The best time to visit Molinos is during the dry season, from April to November, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.During these months, you'll find clear skies and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, exploring vineyards, and visiting local attractions. The days are generally sunny and warm, while evenings can be cooler, so it's wise to pack layers. This period avoids the heavier rainfall of the summer months, ensuring a more consistent and enjoyable travel experience. For those interested in experiencing local culture and traditions, planning your trip around the grape harvest season, typically in March, can be rewarding. While this falls just outside the driest period, the festivities and opportunity to see the winemaking process first-hand can be a unique highlight. However, be prepared for a higher chance of rain.
