Beautiful historic home! The space was fantastic and the host thought of every amenity possible to make sure guests could be comfortable and feel at home. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
October in MN can be chilly, and it was. The Fox Den was comfortable the whole time. We are transplanted Minnesotans and the on-farm site in Lake Elmo was like coming home. We even heard cows bellering in the morning. We loved our week and have reserved for next summer. We really felt at home and the host was superb. Ron V from Fort Myers, FL
My two college age children and I had the best time on the farm! We loved the apartment! It was perfect for relaxing! Great location for visiting with family in Stillwater.
We enjoyed the quiet country atmosphere. The house was comfortable and well equipped for our stay. Loved being among the chickens and goats. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Very nice place to get away from the traffic, noise, etc of the twin cities, but close enough to provide access to all of the amenities. Clean, safe and peaceful.
Beautiful peaceful setting, girl friends spent talking and praying hiking cooking and eating! Spent a day in Stillwater rode the trolley and finished our trip with brunch at the Lake Elmo Inn!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this lovely farm.
Fabulous hosts- excellent communication and thoughtfulness.
Comfortable beds and furniture. Well stocked kitchen with all the essentials.
Peter went the extra mile to make our stay exceptional.
We are already booked to stay here again.
Grateful for this super cozy and convenient spot near St. Paul.
Beautiful property with a fantastic house. They thought of every amenity and more. Great beds, high end paper products, wonderful kitchen with ice for drinks, cream and sugar for coffee and a fancy hot water pot- nice soaps and toiletries too. Happy they provided extra charging cords and a Sonos system. We enjoyed the cozy living space, soft blankets and the gorgeous property for a morning hike. Definitely worth more than we paid - hope to stay again sometime.
We enjoyed our stay here. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the well maintained trails. It was peaceful and quiet. Our only issue was that there was only 1 window AC unit in the master bedroom. It was cool in the evenings, so it was tolerable, but I do believe it would be an issue if it was any warmer outside. Mr. Peter was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay here again.
We very much enjoyed our stay on this property. The housing was adequate; great home and very clean. Nicely stocked but it was quite warm (80-83 degrees) in the house for my family (we normally keep our thermostat between 68-71). The window air unit was essential but there was no way to cool the back bedroom. The house is well stocked and taken care of. We enjoyed a walk around the property and meeting the goat, the cat, and seeing a number of deer, birds, berries, and fun wildlife. The owner was very responsive and even dropped by the property at my request. We also left my daughter's swim stuff behind and he kindly has agreed to ship it to us. We even took suggestions from his book for coffee and food and gave those locations high ratings as well. Would recommend to a friend, but also maybe bring a fan in the summer months.
We thrived at Whippletree’s Cozy Farmhouse.
Nature and quiet surrounded us. We saw deer (two fawns!), ground hogs, sand hill cranes, turkeys, heard coyotes at night, and visited the goats and chickens.
The beds were incredibly comfortable.
Well appointed, the home had lovely cozy blankets for curling up in front of a movie. Our daughter was excited by the PlayStation, though we were too busy to use it.
After our days engagements in St. Paul and Northern MN, we relished coming home to the peace and quiet of the farmhouse.
The onsite trails are an absolute gem!! Well maintained, they were a pleasure to hike. Our family plans to make this our home in MN whenever we visit family.
The host is exceptional, the home is lovely, and farm is wonderful.
We will be back.
If i could give 6 stars i would. What a magical stay. Quiet, peaceful, fireflies at night, occasional thunderstorms, responsive hosts, clean place, wildlife, and farm animals. It's a little dated, and there is only air in the master, but the house stays relatively cool and there was a decent breeze that kept us comfortable despite hot summer humid temps. All of us agreed, this place was a better choice than the hotels or local VRBOs around with air conditioning. There's a nice walk path around the property, and there are plenty of animals and wildlife. We saw deer in the yard each day and even emus or lamas? (Not sure what they were)We will stay again if it's still available for rent when we come back to MN, I couldn't recommend this place more than i do. And i mentioned only having air conditioning in the master, with the ceiling fans and the breeze throughout the house, even though it was quite warm during our stay, we didn't even turn on the window air conditioning unit... it was just fine without it. We are pretty sensitive to hot nights and the house cools down so well at night it was never a problem. Lastly, the host, Peter, was extremely responsive to any questions we had during our stay. What a treasure, I'm glad we found it. I almost wonder if I'll regret such a raving review in case it hinders our chances of booking it again.
Stayed 3 night's while in town visiting my sister. Great property and very nice host. Super clean with nice little extra touches. Beautiful trail to hike on the property. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a 100 year old family farm, with goats, chickens, and bees. The farm is a nature park with great walking paths. Extremely peaceful and relaxing. Think Walden Pond without the water. Beautiful nights spent around the fire pit. Thank you for a marvelous stay!
This property is very peaceful and was convenient to our family. There is no overall air conditioning so we were lucky it wasn’t too hot. The host was very attentive and quickly provided a bath mat for the shower floor. All good! You will enjoy your stay if you book her
Nothing beats a quiet farm. Outside the big city. We live on a farm in Texas and that is what we are happy with. So when this listing popped up I jumped on it. The house is so unique. The goats are so lovable. Peter was super nice and explained everything about the farm. We will be staying again.
