With its paved roads and beautiful natural surroundings, this is an ideal home to bring your bikes—there are miles of easy riding for you to enjoy the fresh air and mountain scenery. Your four-legged family members are also welcome here! This home is 12.7 miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), 13 miles from the beach at Lake Lure, and 14.3 miles from Chimney Rock State Park. You are also welcome to bring your boat (contact us for size limitations, regulations, etc.); the Lake Adger, a public access site, is a half-mile from the home. The lake is 438 acres with 14 miles of pristine shoreline and offers great fishing. Mountain Comfort Whether you want to get away for a relaxing vacation or a long weekend, this beautiful home offers all the comforts you would expect. On the main floor is a functional kitchen complete with a dishwasher, refrigerator, range, microwave, and coffee maker. The main floor also offers a stone fireplace in the living room for cool or romantic evenings, a washer/dryer in the half bath, and a master suite with a queen bed plus a full bath with double vanity and jetted bathtub. Upstairs, you will find a full bath and 2 additional bedrooms (1 with a queen bed, the other with 2 comfortable twin-size beds). Shelton's Way also has a full basement that can be used for exercising, hobbies, and more. Enjoy the natural surroundings, play on Lake Adger, or relax on the screened porch or open deck for peace and serenity. The lake is approximately 400 acres, offers great fishing, and is only 11-12 miles from Lake Lure. This home is 12.7 miles from the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), 13 miles from the beach at Lake Lure, and 14.3 miles from Chimney Rock State Park. Notice: Lake Lure in Lake Lure, NC will reopen early May 2026 It is also just 15 minutes from the quaint Village of Tryon, located on the first rise of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to the Tyron International Equestrian Center, it offers wineries, golf, and unique shops. On a historical note, it is the birthplace of the legendary Jazz singer, pianist, and songwriter Nina Simone. A statue and plaza in town honor her memory. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US. If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Lake Lure on Alt 74 (curvy and scenic Memorial Highway) through Chimney Rock Village, Bat Cave, Gerton, Fairview, toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have not traveled this stretch of road, it is something to add to your bucket list. This home is located just 15 minutes from Bat Cave, 35 minutes from Hendersonville, 50 minutes from Asheville, and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less than 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest. ​Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes. Dogs (up to 2) are welcome in this home. Everything was so beautiful, so well organized. I so enjoyed being able to take my Golden Retreiver, Sadie with me. She loved watching the birds and the deer. My husband, daughter and I and my in-laws enjoyed a week long stay in Mill Spring and could not have loved it more. (Well only maybe if it snowed.) The house is better than the pictures show, the land/yard and neighborhood were lovely, and a fire in the fireplace every night topped it off. The house was fully stocked with all we would need (except groceries of course) and we loved the extras this property afforded. We could travel to what we wanted to do for the day within 30 minutes to an hour but the journey was everything - - amazing views through mountains and pathways to waterfalls and trail hikes. We would definitely come back - - summer or winter. Thanks to Carolina Properties for answering all of my e-mails timely and for providing a wonderful home away from home experience for our family this Christmas. The quiet at this family getaway is deafening. Surrounded by porches on 3 sides you find great places to enjoy morning coffee, the deer, hummingbirds and wildlife that surround you. Valted ceiling family room, well equipped kitchen, and spacious bedrooms provide space for family meals, games, and personal quite time. ##### Louis C. The house feels relatively new and sits on a private lot. I agree with the previous review's issues. Also the home is at least 25 minutes from the property managers building (Carolina Properties) and 30 minutes from Lake Lure Beach. Some of the route is very curvy and can be difficult to follow at night. ##### Jill F. This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 6/10 Okay #### Catherine W. 24 Jul 2015 #### Comfortable, but with some issues This is a very nice home, but with a few issues that potential guests should be aware of. 1) Little to no toilet paper is provided - you are asked to bring your own, so be prepared. 2) Garbage bags and paper towels are not provided. Again, you must bring your own. 3) Well pumps and hot water heaters are turned off when you arrive, so especially if you are renting for a horse show, be prepared for a 30 minute wait upon arrival for the water to heat up to take a shower. 4) There is no garbage pick up in the neighborhood, so you are asked to haul your own garbage to the dump. 5) Property management indicated that the home is 15 minutes to Tryon International Equestrian Center. It is closer to 25-30 minutes. Other than these issues, the beds were comfy and the kitchen well stocked with utensils. ##### Catherine W. ---
