Great House on the Beach
This is a great property has everything you need for a large group. Just check in make yourself at home. Right on the beach. Has chairs and paddle boards for the beach which was a nice amenity. Would stay again.

Friends Trip
The house was just what we wanted. Clean rooms with a great main level to hang out and watch the winter storm over the lake. It was beautiful!

Retreat

Family Lake Michigan trip
All adults on this trip overall the house was as described and Todd was quick to respond to any question we had. The parking is difficult but manageable. The one thing I think needs done is some lighting near the basement door. We did have an AC problem while we were there I called Todd and the next morning the HVAC guy arrived and had it fixed in about 30 minutes. The bedrooms in the basement are pretty dark but do serve as extra sleeping space the other bedrooms are very nice. There was a lot of outdoor space to enjoy and the beach was a short walk over the dune. There were a lot of games to play not a lot of space for dry food items in the kitchen. The bathrooms could use some shelving or hooks for towels. Overall the basement could use some brightening up but the rest of the house was nice. We had a great time visiting the area.

Wonderful Beach House!
Everything was as advertised - perfect for our group of 9 adults. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, the neighborhood was quiet. The beach chairs and paddle boards made our beach time memorable.

Big house, private beach, great for large groups!
The property was incredible! Plenty of beds, fully stocked kitchen was great for home cooked meals, and plenty of beach chairs for the whole group! The beach is just a short walk away and is private, providing plenty of quiet time for your group to hangout uninterrupted. The house was huge and had plenty of seating options for everyone to gather for dinner inside or outside, games around the table, or around a fire outside. There are lots of things to do in town but we recommend spending as much time at the beach as you can. We will definitely come back to this house again!

Great location
Great location with lots to do. The house was very clean and well furnished. The spiral staircase was very small/narrow but when you got to the upper floor the view was beautiful with a large tv, sectional sofa and nice bathroom. The view was very nice to enjoy from the main public area through the 3 sets of sliding doors. The only problem the doors were very hard to slide open and screens need repair. Overall it was a good place to enjoy family time.

Amazing family reunion/vacation!
This property accommodated our group of 18 very well! The main floor was perfect for a crowd, with an extra large kitchen table; extra table for puzzles and games; sufficient plates, silverware, etc.; multiple seating areas; and spacious deck with lots of chairs and tables. The location was amazing, with a short walk down to a beautiful beach and an hour and 15 minutes to downtown Chicago. The main floor of the house was large, comfortable and modern, although the kitchen lacked a place to put dry food which was a little challenging. The upper floor was fine; bedrooms were basic and clean and the bathrooms were nicely done and modern. The bonus room above that was great for our teenagers and younger cousins! The spiral staircase to get up there is not for the faint of heart but the kids were not fazed in the slightest; if anything it added to the fun! The basement rooms were really just a place to rest at night, which was fine for our group because all of our waking hours were spent on the main floor, on the outdoor decks or on the beach! The basement rooms could use some sprucing up for sure, but I would say they are as advertised. If there was any downside to the house I would say that many in our party found their mattresses to be uncomfortable. Otherwise though we had an amazing time and would definitely come back if we lived closer! I will also mention that the owner/property manager (not sure who I was talking to) was extremely responsive and helpful!

Thanks for the review - we have recently added some mattress toppers and will review mattresses and replace any as needed. Glad we were able to unclog all that hair from the basement sink for you! We added some shelves to the kitchen behind the fireplace, but folks have moved them several times, so they remain between the TV and the sliding glass doors. Family Beach Getaway
We had such a great time with our kids and grandkids. The house was beautiful and being right on the beach was great. There was space for everyone and the large table was great when you have so many people at meals or for activities. We hope to be back next year.

Great Family Vacation

Girls Getaway Weekend
What a wonderful weekend in a beautiful home. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday. This house is comfortable and spacious especially for large gatherings. It’s fully stocked and every detail is covered. It’s a short walk to the beach and the house has beautiful views of the lake. There was great communication with the host, too. We will definitely try to plan another stay at this beautiful home and location.

Wonderful stay right on the beach
My book club enjoyed a long weekend at the home. The house has everything you need and newly updated bathrooms. Location is right on the beach so everyone enjoyed walking and listening to the waves. Highly recommend this property.

Not clean!! But beautiful location.
When we arrived we were shocked by two things: the breathtaking views and proximity to the beach, and the general uncleanliness of the entire property. I’ll start with our issues and end with the good parts. There was pink mold in the showers and in the shower curtains. There were spiderwebs and bugs in many places. It seemed like the property hadn’t been cleaned for a while. There was a bad smell in the basement bathroom. The pots and pans hanging from the ceiling were not cleaned and tracked in a lot of flies. It was really gross. The furniture is not as it is in the photos. The basement bedrooms and the basement bathroom do not lock as they have barn doors. If you have anyone in your party that is claustrophobic do not put them in the basement because those rooms are very small. We were not misled or anything about the size of the rooms In the basement by the listing but we were still surprised. We called VRBO right when we arrived trying to cancel our booking For these listed reasons(minus the small bedrooms size) but they didn’t help us even after sending photos because it had to be in terrible condition for them to refund us. We contacted the owner and he sent someone out who didn’t really help with any of our concerns and denied a smell in the basement bathroom. We tried communicating with the owner after we checked out but he kept saying since we didn’t complain of everything during the stay, and that he won’t give us a partial refund, but we actually did complain to the cleaning lady when she came to check the property. The owner is a very nice guy but he needs more reliable staff so he can serve his customers better. The other reviews are amazing so I’m assuming this is just a glitch experience. I’m hoping the owner gets a new cleaning staff for the next customers! Now for the good stuff. The house is spacious enough for 18 people to cohabit comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. The bathrooms were updated which made the experience better. The upstairs bedrooms were a nice size and comfortable. The spiral staircase to the loft room is good for kids not for adults. The three balconies were amazing to have. When we went to the beach in September we were basically the only people there which was great. It was very easy communicating with the owner despite not agreeing on one major thing, I have to be fair because we still did have a good time despite the great stress of dealing with the uncleanliness.

The only complaint we received during your stay was on the first day about a urine smell (or some smell) in the basement. The owner of the cleaning company, Mary, went to the house on Friday to address the issue. Per Mary, she didn't smell anything odd/odorous in the basement when she checked it out and confirmed this with your husband (he was the one who went to the basement with her). She offered to pour bleach down the floor drains and he said it was not necessary. As for the pots and pans and cobwebs, this issue was rectified so there was no way Mary can confirm that this was an issue to begin with. We checked with Mary, and she heard no other complaints beyond full garbage cans (prior renter didn’t put cans at the curb in time that week, so wouldn’t be emptied until the following Monday). We never heard from you for the rest of your stay. Mary did mention to us that you likely had over 22 people in the house and certainly more than 4 children which is more than the number of people you had listed when making the booking, which we generally don’t mind as we encourage families to get together as much as possible. Our cleaning lady also said that everyone appeared to be having a good time despite your complaints. We will address the pink mold in showers and shower curtains. Until now, we didn't know you had contacted VRBO about cancelling your booking upon arrival. This is the first we've heard of it! We contacted VRBO and they confirmed you did contact them about issues with the property the first day, but they do not have a record of you requesting cancellation of your visit. Regarding your issues with the property, after you sent in photos, VRBO concluded the photos did NOT show misrepresentation of the property, so the request/issue was closed. After your stay, you sent us messages thru VRBO and privately thru text that you wanted the cleaning fee refunded for various issues (noted above) which were not mentioned during your stay (so we had no chance to confirm nor address/rectify them). We refused to refund the cleaning fee. Now we see you have contacted your credit card company to request a chargeback for half of the entire payment for your stay. We will follow up with VRBO and your bank/credit card and are confident this too will be rejected/denied for lack of evidence. We would have happily had Mary return to take care of the additional issues you raised after your stay was complete if you had contacted us during your stay, but you never gave us an opportunity. We've had the property active in VRBO for many years and have always used the same cleaning company. You are the first to issue such complaints about cleanliness. While we endeavor to make sure the place is ready for our guests to enjoy, we are not willing to provide refunds without being able to objectively confirm issues and have an opportunity to rectify them. Despite your complaints, we’re glad to hear you enjoyed getting family together, the house, and the area and we sincerely hope you'll consider staying in Michigan City again.

Overall, we had a great time at this house. We really enjoyed the access to the beach. The views were incredible and the home was fully equipped with everything we needed. However, the basement area was what it was. It was a basement. It was small and cramped, and some of my family members decline to stay in the basement. Also, parking was difficult. But, for the price and size of the home, we really found this place enjoyable, relaxing, and accommodating.

This home was spacious and so comfortable, with plenty of places to relax and enjoy each other’s company. With only 8 of us, there were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for all. The decks with their beautiful view of Lake Michigan were the highlight of the trip. A little long walk to the beach, but so well worth it as the beach and views were fabulous. Girls trip
Amazing, 4 level, sprawling house right on the water. Pictures in the listing do not do the rooms and bathrooms justice. Clean and lovely. Kitchen is well stocked. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms have been renovated and feel luxurious. You have to hike a small dune to the beach, part of the charm. Paddle boards and beach chairs provided. The views of the lake from windows and decks will take your breath away. Within 5-10 min of anything you could possibly desire (outlet mall, restaurants, casino). We will be back!

Just beachy!
The proximity to Lake Michigan made this a true stay vacation. We have a large family and the property accommodated all 21 of us! The kitchen was well supplied with equipment but there was no storage for dry food so it was a bit cluttered but we managed. The weather was perfect for a lot of beach time including watching the amazing sunsets.

Well-stacked oasis
This house was perfect for our large and active family. With lots of space to spread out in the house and everything we needed for those few days (from pots and pans to toilet paper) in good supply, it suited our needs well. We loved the long table, enjoyed the porches, and had lots of fun with the paddle boards. We also liked the location --it's a full but not too noisy neighborhood, right on the beach, close to a sweet little coffee and ice cream place down the road and other activities within short driving distance. All the amenities you could need. Just a note-If you are a senior citizen, it's a rough trek to and from the lake, but if you drive down the road, there is a beach at street level.

This beach house has been renovated beautifully, with lots of space. Each of our 5 couples had a comfortable, well-appointed bedroom, with easy access to bathrooms. The long dining table was perfect for our group, and we enjoyed cooking together in a very nice, open kitchen. We’ll definitely be back!

The house was the perfect size for a weekend expended family getaway. It had plenty of room for our family of 11 and it Would be an amazing summer vacation.

Excellent Beach House
We loved the beach house! Plenty of bathrooms and fully stocked, the main floor was perfect for entertaining. The three balconies were just awesome. Perfect for our big family and we loved walking right out onto the beach!

Xmas Party of 22
Property was a perfect compliment to making fabulous family memories! Had everything we needed…most importantly room for a family of 22 (even with beds to spare). Great property even in the winter! We enjoyed some time on the beach, stood around the fire pit with a light snow, saw a group of deer meander through and just enjoyed some great family time.

Thanksgiving Weekend Retreat
The property was a super cool lake house with beach vibes. We visited over Thanksgiving weekend so it was totally cozy with the fire place and big sofa. There was plenty of room for everyone. We especially enjoyed the walk down the beach even though it was cold it made for a cool hike. We managed to cook up a festive meal. We had a little trouble casting onto the tv in the living room so we substituted football with family, not a bad trade off (ha). Overall, this is a great property in a stellar location with lake views in so many parts of the house. Honestly I’d probably buy the house if the owner wanted to sell haha we made some special memories here so glad we found it!

Wonderful Stay
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The place is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The lake was lovely even in the colder temperatures. Things to note: There are no spices or salt and pepper. (Not a big deal. Just good to know.) And the breaker box is on the second floor in the bunk bed room between the wardrobe and the window. (A breaker was popped when we first arrived for the lights above the dining table. Todd was great in leading us to it since we couldn’t find it on our own.) This home had lots of space for all of us and the loft was wonderful for kids! We really enjoyed our stay!

Great choice for our gathering
We really enjoyed our stay. The beach was quiet and perfect for walks and enjoying sunsets. The kids liked playing in the sand even with the fall weather. Best to bring a coat that blocks the wind. The long dinning room table was perfect for the group of us and the main level had plenty of places to spread out and still be together. It was nice to have a restroom on every floor. There was plenty of soap, towels, laundry det, and dishwasher det. The sprial stair case to the loft adds interest but does take caution. The kids particularly enjoyed the stairs and the ability to share a room. Parking is tight but we made it work there is only space for three cars before you have to start moving cars to let others out of the driveway. Not a big issue just plan ahead. It is a great place to stay even in the fall with the Outlet close buy for shopping and the Dunes parks there is plenty to keep you occupied, plus the beach is a short walk.

Great location and amenities!
Nicely remodeled, huge house right on the beach. We were 4 adults and two toddlers and we only used 2 levels of the house! (there are 4 total). Well-stocked kitchen (with lots of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, etc). Beds and couch were super comfy. Lots of games, tv channels, plenty of beach chairs, a beach wagon, and a few beach toys. It's a big of a hike over the dune to the beach but super convenient and private, especially with kids!!! Beach is fantastic, wide, and water is shallow. Only downsides are there's limited seating or furniture on the two upper-story decks (the ones with the best views) and the driveway is steep (but a huge bonus in this area of town with no street parking). We would stay again!
