Family reunion
Very nice house. We had a fun family get-together. Plenty of space for cousins to play. Enjoyed walking to the beach, even though it was bit cold in November.

Great for large group
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here for a women's getaway weekend. There were enough beds for everyone and the back deck is lovely. The house could use some updating and a few things to make it more convenient. For example, we assumed that there would be salt and pepper shakers, but there were none. The toilet seat on the upstairs bathroom has a crack which pinches when you sit down. The coffee maker had not been cleaned since the previous guests and there was coffee and grounds sitting in the filter. However, these were minor inconveniences and in general, we enjoyed our stay. The walk to the beach is lovely and we got a couple of great sunsets.

Vacation 2023
Our family enjoyed how close the rental was to the beach. We also were there when the boat races were in town. It was amazing. It was nice to have all the bedrooms to fit our family. The washer and dryer were wonderful especially with needing to wash bathroom towels. ( Need to have more towels in each bathroom and wash clothes) Loved the gas stove for cooking. I was disappointed that there was a crockpot but no container for the inside to actually use it. Only 3 trash bags for the stay. Definitely needed more for our stay. If we stayed here again I would know what I would need to bring. Towels, wash clothes, trash bags, paper towels, crockpot, etc.

Family place near the beach
The best part was having 3 bathrooms, one on each floor. The open plan living, dining, kitchen was very nice. The beach chairs were very useful. The host was very responsive and came right over to help us get the ac working. It was a pity that the nice deck at the back has inconvenient access and is not connected with the open plan living, dining and kitchen. The lower level was partially finished and does not have a ping pong table or combo pool/air hockey/pool table per the description.

Good location!
The location was good! Short walk on a path through the woods to lake shore drive and the lake. Elementary school very close with a large playground in back. A few issues at the house were the dishwasher was not working properly. Also the refrigerator door had to be very carefully closed or we were afraid it would break. We were not able to start the grill. And there was not a can opener. If those issues are addressed there would be not much to complain about.

Nice quiet neighborhood. Short walk to the beach. Plenty of room for 4 couples. Had a great weekend sitting around spending time with family. Met the host and his family ,nice family, as he had to stop in to take care of a couple of things. Enjoyable weekend.

This guest does not follow rules and left our home a mess. They did not communicate with us once during their stay and we have someone nearby to address any issues.

Good dog-friendly rental
This home was clean and fairly well-appointed. The number of bedrooms [and sleeping accommodations] were great for a large family stay. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, and really appreciated the new air conditioner! The kitchen is very nice and for the most part had everything we needed to live there. It was also so nice to have three full bathrooms, given the number of people staying at the rental. Distance from beach was very doable and easily accessed. The beach was wonderful! The back deck was a wonderful addition, with more than adequate seating. We were so very appreciative of being able to have our dogs with us, and Colin was so helpful to allow this. It is not easy finding a pet-friendly lake rental, so we felt very grateful. Some things to consider: 1. Adding an umbrella for the deck as it is in full sun, making it difficult to enjoy seating during a hot summer's day. 2. The front stairs and entrance is very aged, splintery, and the stairs did not feel totally stable. The wood is very dried and aged. The step up into the front door is very high. Maybe building a step to reduce the height when the stairs are replaced? 3. The steps in the back yard leading from the deck area to the lower area by the glass sliding doors are also in a condition that required focused attention to traverse up and down. 4. The exterior of the house appeared to be newly painted and it looked nice. Perhaps this is the beginning of the renovations? [Exterior and interior]. Older homes seem to get older and visibly used when they are in high use by so many people. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and experienced good communication with Colin. Thank you Colin!

Good stay
The house is close to the beach and has plenty of parking. All of the beds were comfortable with no complaints from my picky family. Everything was very clean with the exception of a few dishes that were probably put away by the previous guests. We enjoyed our mornings and evenings on the deck. The garage is used as storage so not an option for being outside on a rainy day. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Steps and decks could be improved however my 83-year-old mother seem to manage. We would stay here again.

Spacious place to sleep, close to everything fun!
The property has a lot of room, was clean, in a nice neighborhood, and close to what we had planned. We really just slept here, but the home has everything you might need for meals, family fun, and a great getaway!

Great stay for daughter’s 18th birthday
Colin was very flexible allowing me and my daughter’s group of friends for her birthday. Other property owners were not interested even though I explained I would be there monitoring and ensuring they behaved. They loved going to the beach everyday and saw deer and other wildlife right down the block!

The place is slightly dated but was a great fit for our weekend shopping trip. Lots of parking as all our friends come from different areas. Conveniently located near the outlet mall, Lake Michigan and the casino. Our host provided great recommendations for dining.

The house served it’s purpose and was close to the beach, but we expected a little more for the price we paid. Some of the amenities weren’t accurate, water pressure and temp was inconsistent throughout house, dirty dishes found in cabinets, and some appliances weren’t available. Coffee maker was broken. Not a big deal since there was also a Keurig but we expected a crockpot and had planned to use it for meal prep. The only thing we could find was the outer heating shell. No insert or lid could be found. Also things were not organized in a way that was easy or functional. Again, it served its purpose but we would have like to see more for nearly $2000 for 3 nights.

Large home with space for everyone
This large home was perfect for our extended family getaway. There was plenty enough space for our group. The sand box in the back yard and large deck were a huge bonus for us. It is a short walk or drive to the beach. Collin answered any questions we had. There are a few items that need to be addressed and he is aware of those. But they had no affect on our stay. The neighbors are really nice and it is located in a beautiful and safe neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Home Layout for extended family.
Great place for multi family gathering. Bedrooms and baths on each floor allow for privacy and quiet for the little ones. A short walk to the beach or plenty of room for family games on the rainy days.

We had a great time at this property! The location was superb! The walk to beach was doable for older kids, but not conducive to kids in wagons or strollers. However, there are beaches everywhere! There’s tons to do in Michigan City and in the surrounding areas- just be mindful of the time change between Michigan and Indiana. There were a few things I contacted Collin about, but nothing that hindered our stay. He was very hospitable and responsive. The house was laid out perfectly for multiple families and everyone had their own bathroom. If we had the same sized group again, we would definitely stay here again!

Positives: proximity to the beach, backyard was beautiful, communication with the property manager was timely. Negatives: This house needs some major tlc. Here are some examples of things that we noticed needing repairs or replacement-multiple holes in the walls, knobs to the stove to turn on 2 of the 4 burners were missing, pull string for ceiling fan in the bedroom with bunk beds did not work, vent cover upside down in master, knobs for bathroom drawer cabinets missing, blinds bent, shower head needs tightening, fan in one of the bathrooms makes a really loud noise, deck on the front of the house is pulling away from the house, stairs in the back of the house leading to deck need replacing, thin bath towels with holes in them, crib had broken board hanging down. We booked this house for two nights despite noticing a couple other reviews that said some of the same things we ended up noticing, simply because it was the only house available to rent the nights we needed that was close to the beach. We hoped that enough time had passed, that the neccesary maintenance would be done. The decks both felt unsafe. We will not rent this house again in the future. I think it's fine for someone who doesn't have high standards but I expected nicer for the cost. The house is cute but it needs to be better maintained.

The beach nearby is beautiful, and within walking distance, if you’re not carrying a lot. If you have a lot to carry (toddlers, strollers, etc.), it’s a short drive to the beach. The house worked well for us with the 4 bedrooms spread out. We would stay again if we vacation to that area again.

Several items in disrepair, some unexpectedly. Previous renters must have been hard on the place. Colin very cordial and tried to handle each item as it arose. Close approximately to the water was a plus as was the back deck and bbq grill.

Seven friends and I stayed at Colin's house in Michigan City for a very fun weekend. No complaints whatsoever - short distance to the beach, plenty of rooms / beds / bathrooms, nice deck/backyard, etc. We could have comfortably fit several more people. We liked the fact that there were bedroooms on all floors . This allowed for family privacy. We also appreciated the baby friendly amenities. Location was fine in respect of the beach. We did not like the sofas. Very uncomfortable. And the front stairway seemed unsafe.

Stayed at house for my brother's bachelor party this past weekend & overall had a very pleasant experience for the price I paid. Colin is easy to work with & communicated to me efficiently. The location of the house is right in the middle of the funnest things Michigan City has to offer. We ate lunch at Shoreline Brewery then hit the Zoo before a less than 5-minute drive to the house. An Uber ride to BlueChip Casino cost a whopping $8 each way. We also walked to an amazing breakfast place "Dune Billie's" which took less than 10-minutes. The street is very peaceful & quiet and the layout of the house is perfect for larger groups with a surprising amount of privacy. Zero complaints about space! The beds were comfortable as well... We weren't able to use the bathroom faucet downstairs, but after telling Colin about the issue he immediately apologized and offered compensation... My only complaint is the lack of TLC in a few areas. When we arrived the garage was open and the door inside the garage to enter the house was unlocked. The kitchen floor was sticky from obvious spilled drinks. The grill on the deck has never been cleaned and couldn't be used without starting a grease fire. These were just minor inconveniences that hardly affected the experience though. Had a great time & would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Thanks for the review - I am sorry you had an issue with the TV and the faucet in the basement that was not giving hot water. The guests after you notified us about this issue and we got them fixed immediately. We installed a new 50 inch HD Roku TV, with Comcast Xfinity cable, in the basement, and installed a new faucet in the basement bathrooms so these issues do not affect future guests. Thanks again for your review, and I apologize about the issues you experienced!

This was a great destination, a short drive from Chicago. Nice home in a good location. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of room to spread out. Great quality washer and dryer. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. Easy walk thru the woods to a beautiful beach. 2 good restaurants within walking distance. Overall, 5 stars+. I will love to come back. Good location, house needs updates aimed at safety.
House is in a great location with easy access to the beach. Less than 5 minute walk for adults. A bit tricky with young kids, but not too bad. House itself works, but has many safety concerns for young kids. ie: Front balcony has horizontal railings that can act as a ladder for kids to climb; back balcony is built in very unsafe manner; kids can climb out on ledge in stairwell and fall; holes in concrete steps in backyard. We had 5 kids under 10 and didn't have any injuries, but it seems inevitable that someone will.

Nice house for Christmas Eve family get together. Kids (8 and under) had fun downstairs. Kitchen fully stocked as stated. There were a few issues. Could not get downstairs tv to work. Enjoyed playing Foosball but could not find parts to most other table games. And had to use plunger on main floor toilet. Owner responded promptly to all questions and was pleasure to rent from. House was clean and listing was accurate.
