About this property
The lake life is waiting for you! Swimming, fishing, boating on Center Lake.
This private cottage is directly on water's edge! Lakeside Maison Rouge (Lakeside Red House) guests will enjoy just the right mix of a quiet neighborhood with lake activity while experiencing classic lake living at it's very best!
Lakeside offers a pedal boat and two stand-up paddleboards complimentary to guests and a delightful way to get out on the water! A local marina offers a PONTOON RENTAL exclusive to Lakeside guests. Or, bring your own boat and dock it right in front of the house! Message Chris your host for more details!
Located on a chain of lakes just minutes from I-94 and US 127, the two-story home features three private bedrooms with a shared full bath on the upper level. NEW CENTRAL AIR... The main level offers a newly renovated kitchen with nearby half-bath, dining area, living area, bonus room with single sleeper loveseat (great for a small child or teen) and fourth bedroom with double bed. The west facing fully enclosed three seasons porch often gives way to a continuous breeze while providing a shady place for morning coffee, afternoon board games and conversation, and a front row seat to beautiful Michigan sunsets.
The open-air deck overlooks the freshwater lake and is the perfect place to soak up some sunshine. And a newly added cement patio offers dappled shade for lounging on the two chaises or enjoying a meal at the picnic table complete with adjustable umbrella.
A permanent marina inspired wooden dock is sturdy and ready for feet dangling or casting your fishing rod to catch the evening's meal! And, if you don't mind, you may end up sharing it with a "just passing by" Sandhill Crane or Blue Heron.
The decor reflects an eclectic, comfortable style where guests can relax and unwind. When selecting the exterior color, the owners decided to embrace the barn shape and painted it barn red. The landscaping is manicured each week and continues to evolve with the addition of hostas, daylilies, and hydrangea. Two mature Crimson Maples shade the side yard and cement patio.
A school playground is a short walk from Lakeside with a paved, stroller friendly sidewalk to travel. After some play, the Dairy Queen is just a bit further for a tasty treat. Not wanting to cook? How about a coney dog and root beer in a frosty mug at the drive-up "Rudy's Diner" where your meal is brought on a tray and attached to the car window! Or order up a delicious meal for pick-up at "Los Tres Amigos" restaurant located about a 1/2 mile from Lakeside.
The Downtown Jackson area has many unique shops and restaurants and is a quick drive from Lakeside. While you're there, take a memorable photo in front of one the unique Bright Walls Murals, recently featured in the Chicago Daily Tribune as a "not to miss" Midwest attraction.
Several notable golf courses are located in Jackson County. And, you won't want to miss taking in one (or more) of the award-winning wineries - all within a short drive. The Potter Center at Jackson College offers a wide variety of art and celebrity entertainment.
Michigan International Speedway, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University are easily accessible from Lakeside as well.
Your perfect getaway awaits. Come and experience the ease and comfort of Lakeside Maison Rouge.

Location was perfect for my family. House was furnished with everything you would need and decor was very cute. Many things provided for lake fun.
Little things host did was very much appreciated .
I booked this house as a last minute getaway with my husband and three kids. All five of us had a wonderful, relaxing time. The property was clean, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals at home, and the view from the deck can’t be beat. My boys took advantage of fishing off the dock and my daughter loved the paddle boards and pedal boat. The host was very friendly and accommodating. The outdoor shed was filled with everything we needed to enjoy the day outside. The host provides a daily pontoon rental for an extra charge of interested. She also put us in contact with a jet ski rental place, which is what the kids enjoyed the most. The boating on the lake was active, but not crowded where I’d feel unsafe with a teenager on a jet ski. There’s not much else to do around town, but that’s ok because we came for the lake and it didn’t disappoint!
This is the ideal lake cabin. We had 5 people staying there and we all had our own rooms. We enjoyed the enclosed porch the most. Every evening we sat out there to either watch a storm or the sunset over the lake. The kitchen had everything we needed to make nice meals. The couch put people to sleep as soon as they played on it. All this charm comes also with the cabin being built in the early 1900's. The stairs are narrow and the the floors are uneven. The basement where the washer and dryer has a low ceiling. The neighbors are super nice and we loved meeting them on a walk through the neighborhood. We will definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely time enjoying the lake, the home and the area. The home was lovely and welcoming with plenty to do, a full kitchen, comfortable beds and even firewood in the shed!!
The host made everything worry free and gave us great suggestions about places of interest nearby. There were plenty of things at the house to help pass the time and the box of donuts waiting for us upon arrival was a sweet surprise. Future guests will definitely enjoy spending time here.
Great house on the water. Upon arrival there was a wonderful welcome note along with a dozen donuts - that were delicious! Chris was beyond helpful and a great host. We were offered late check-out, which we took advantage of, as we did not want to leave. Would definitely rent this house again.
This property is perfect for a family getaway. It has everything you need from a stocked kitchen to water toys, paddle boat and paddle boards. There was also a pontoon boat available for daily rental. My granddaughter and I stayed for the week and took day trips as well as enjoyed the water. Chris is a perfect host who will ensure that all your needs are met and that you are very comfortable. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and we had a great week of weather. It’s a quiet place where you can relax and unwind.
What a wonderful experience we had with our stay here.
Chris was an amazing host. She took great care to make sure we had everything we could need and had the home in excellent condition. She was very responsive to any questions we had. She even arranged for a pontoon boat rental that gave my family a most wonderful day on the water. Thank you Chris for making our stay wonderful.
It was very clean ,and the furniture was in good condition .We enjoyed the porch that overlooked the lake !The kitchen was well stocked with pots, dishes etc ,along with coffee ,tea and spices .This is one of the best properties that we have rented !
What a wonderful experience. Everything my family was looking for and more! Chris is a host unlike others; attention to every little detail including a welcome pie and ice cream. We will definitely visit again!
Lakeside Maison Rouge was a great getaway for our family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers and their 2 teen friends. Just wanted to spend a few days on a lake before school starts. Chris was very kind and helped us find places to rent a pontoon and jet ski from and even left a pie to welcome us. We spent our days on the lake cruising around, fishing, and swimming and in the evenings made smores over fire and played cards and games. The house was clean and had everything you could possibly need. The paddle boat and games that were there helped keep the kids busy. Had a great time and will return.
Very relaxing time ! The lake was quiet not a lot of boaters ! Sunsets were amazing !!! Christine thought of everything ! Firewood corn hole game extra towels and linens ! Would stay here again !
The moment you walk into the lake house - you quickly realize that there was a lot of love and attention that went into every detail/decor of the home. From the welcome note, to the tasty frozen treats in the freezer, to the cleanliness of the home etc. You feel so welcome and for those few days that you spend in the home, you feel that it is your home. Christine went above and beyond as a host. She was quick to respond, so accommodating and you can tell that she loves being a host and truly wants you to enjoy her amazing lake house. The lake was very quiet during the week, the fishing was outstanding! We caught well over 50 large mouth bass. Biggest was 4 pounds. The sunsets were calming and beautiful. We watch them every night from the water's edge on very comfortable lake chairs. Slept great and we wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you Christine for making our week away from our busy lives, so perfect. Dave R - Ohio
This house on the lake was spacious enough for four adults and two teens to feel comfortable. Everything we would need was provided. It was clean and well organized. The moment we got out of the car we were all impressed with the crystal blue lake. We all ran down to see it it before we even entered the house. It has been a dream of ours to run off a dock and into the lake so it was prefect for the kids. We would stay here again.
We loved our stay here! The house had everything we needed! Chris was an amazing host and really went above and beyond with the details. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the outside yard area everyday. The only thing we were missing were fishing poles and a license. Next year we will be sure to bring it as we will certainly be back!! Wonderful and relaxing getaway. Thank you, Chris!
Cannot say enough good things about staying here! The weather wasn’t so great but the cottage was perfect in every way! And Christine the owner? Awesome! I know I will be back with my husband this time!!
