The best time to visit Mesquita is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from April to June or September to October, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller. These months offer warm, sunny days superb for exploring the Alentejo region without the intense heat of summer. You'll find the countryside is at its most beautiful, with wildflowers in spring and the grape harvest beginning in early autumn. This period is ideal for couples or solo travellers looking for a relaxed trip with opportunities for outdoor activities like walking or cycling. The summer months of July and August are also popular, especially for families. While it can be very hot, this is when many local festivals take place, and the coastal areas of the Alentejo are at their busiest. If you plan to spend time by the sea, this is a good option, but be prepared for higher temperatures and more people.Conversely, the winter months from November to March are cooler and wetter. While you might find good value on accommodation, many smaller attractions and restaurants may have reduced hours.
