  • The Away Place is a lakeside home with fireplace, hot tub, fire pit and kayaks. Located just 4 miles from downtown Mentone and also 4 miles from DeSoto State Park, The Away Place is modern living with a rustic, vintage vibe. Open living room with gas log fireplace and smart tv, open dining area that seats 6 and open kitchen with island seating 4 ensure that there is plenty of room for everyone! Just off the kitchen is a covered porch overlooking the lake with hot tub and more seating. The King bedroom with ensuite bath also leads out to the covered back porch. The second bedroom with two twin beds and third bedroom with Queen bed make this amazing property sleep up to 6 comfortably. Drink your morning coffee from the back porch overlooking the lake, sip a glass of wine while watching the sun set, and finish your day enjoying s'mores and making memories lakeside at the fire pit. Outdoors is a rustic landscape of trees and amazing color, making it the ultimate "Away Place" on the lake.

    Mentone offers artist & antique shops and restaurants. Nearby activities include golf, DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon National Preserve, horseback riding, hiking along rivers & waterfalls. Absolutely beautiful getaway!

We had such an amazing time at the away place! The house is absolutely beautiful, and check in and check out were very easy. The amenities were great as well and the hot tub was perfect for night time soaks. I definitely recommend this cabin for a girls or family getaway.

Perfect Getaway!

The Away Place is a beautiful home for a friends weekend getaway chasing waterfalls! The home is very cozy, well decorated and just a great place to unwind, cook and play games! Wonderful Weekend in the mountains

We spent the 4th of July here- it was so nice and peaceful. The house was perfect for our family and the kayaks on the pond provided great entertainment for our children. We will be back next year on the way to camp drop off!

Lovely Stay

We had a great visit with my family. The home is lovely with all the conveniences you need and a home away from home. We fished and kayaked in the lake, relaxed in the hot tub, had a fire in the fire pit, it’s a nice area for taking walks. WiFi is good! Roku Streaming available. Convenient to everything in the area. Great place for dogs too.

Amazing, clean house!

This house was amazing! My boyfriend an I went to get away for the weekend just to relax and this place was perfect for that. The hot tub was nice, I wish there was blinds or something to help block from the people across the pond but it was still nice.

Absolutely Divine Hideaway!

I decided to make a trip out of evacuating Florida for a recent hurricane. This property is gorgeous, clean, peaceful perfection. Couldn't have asked for a smoother process. Great communication and awesome setting to spend a few days away - feels like total isolation but within close proximity to all modern conveniences you need! Can't wait to visit again.

Absolutely beautiful views!

This property was perfect for our family trip. Very close to Desota State Park and Little River Canyon. Down Mentone was a delightful surprise. The property has such nice touches for your comfort. Holly with management was available for any questions we had. The kids loved the hot tub and the whole family enjoyed the fire pit. We loved it so much we are planning a return trip.

Mountain Girls Trip

The Away Place was amazing. It was exactly as described. It was beautiful with all the amenities. We chose to stay in at the cabin and enjoy the back deck and hot tub. But if weather had been better, the lake would have been great for kayaking and fishing. There are kayaks on the property. There are plenty of outdoor activities close nearby as well as restaurants. There are books and games provided by the owner. We had one small issue with hot water that was immediately addressed by Holly. She was amazing and quickly responded to our request to stay another night. We would definitely stay again!

Totally Delightful!

From the time we pulled into the drive until the time we locked the door for the last time, we absolutely loved this place! The scenery from the back covered deck to the pond was amazing. Canadian Geese would land in the pond and thrill us each time. This modern home was so comfy and welcoming. The beds and furniture were all comfortable. It has almost anything you need. They provided towels for the hot tub, which was so refreshing. Inside, coffee was provided which isn't always the case. That was thoughtful. Sometimes it's just the little things that matter. 10/10 on cleanliness! It has modern appliances and an open concept layout. The only slight suggestion I will make is in the hall bathroom, there isn't anywhere to place your products while using the sink except maybe on the back of the toilet. So, keep the lid closed 😉 Thank you for this beautiful Away Place!

Perfect couples getaway

Such a hidden gem tucked away in a secluded area right on the water. The home was set up perfectly with all the amenities. We stayed for 4 days and cooked and ate all our meals in the well set up kitchen. We woke up and used the coffee bar every morning and sat outside admiring the views of the water and all the wildlife from the comfy seats on the back porch. We will be staying here again it felt safe and clean and was tastefully decorated.

Perfect place for our little getaway to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday! We love Mentone! This home is close to town, yet feels secluded in a peaceful area. Highly recommend!

Relaxing weekend away!

We had the best time staying in this wonderful cabin. We were coming to town to drop our kids off at camp and needed a place to stay for the weekend. It checked all our boxes plus more! The hot tub on the back porch is heavenly and the chairs down by the water are a great place to sit and relax in. My kids loved taking the kayaks out and getting to fish. The cabin is very clean and well maintained and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back again!

Comfortable Stay

Our family enjoyed our stay in the Away Place cabin. It was quiet and beautifully located next to the water. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was very clean and check in was easy!
