The website advertising is quite misleading, giving no clear explanation of what is on offer - indicates you have access to, and sole residency of, the entire house. In fact, what you get is an ensuite bedroom with some light breakfast items supplied, and access to a shared kitchenette, where a TV and microwave are supplied, along with tea & coffee supplies, crockery/cutlery etc. Although different to what we expected to have, it was still very pleasant and quiet, and interaction with other guests enjoyable. We would stay again next time we are visiting the area.

Overall the property was clean, neat and comfortable. Very much a place for those looking for a quiet place to stay. The entire facility was clean, tidy but had a charm of yesteryear to it. Very much a feeling of being home. Comfortable bed which enabled good sleep and there g ore refreshed for what was next. Greeted by a lovely staff member who was genuinely interested in you but efficient and to the point regarding the premises.

Fantastic location on the Esplanade..with sea views (and breezy). Roomlarge clean, comfortable , bathroom clean and private. Windows in room 7 overlooked the verdant garden. Access to a laundry was provided along with the clothes line/dryer also available. Garden full of lovely flowers, a fig tree, lemon plant..and many private nooks where one can luxuriate in the sunshine or catch up on their reading. Not being a hotel..there is however a communal tv in the sitting room. This room also has a small dining table and a communal fridge. Sunlit and comfortable poltroons. Library available and a catholic chapel for private reflection and contemplation..as can alsobe expressed in the lovely verdant grounds. Staff and resident nuns were all welcoming and friendly. A lovely week long stay..and i shall return.

There was a little confusion about the check-in - they sent me an email at 3.34pm in the afternoon- I don't have email access on my phone. In the end one of the staff let me in & I was able to work out the issues - but the sending of five emails beforehand without the relevant info in does seem a little over the top. That aside, the place was lovely & very relaxing & in a brilliant position. The room I had was very large & the ensuite was excellent.

We don't wish to leave a negative review; however, the Expedia listing clearly states: "Entire Place You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party." - this was not the case. St Joseph's by the Sea is basically a no amenities hotel (no TV, no mini fridge, no sofa, a just a small bin by the toilet) - not the romantic getaway we thought we'd booked for Valentine's Day. The room (Room 2) itself, though simple, was neat and tidy - the decor and colour scheme were quite pleasant. If all you need is a bed and a place to spend the night then St Joseph's by the Sea is perfectly acceptable. But, the Expedia listing is very misleading.
