The view is unmatched anywhere. The property is very private and comfortable. 2 families of 4 had a blast! The host, Hector was friendly, accomodating, helpful.it was great meeting such a nice, friendly host!
One of the best views I’ve ever seen! Home was clean and comfortable, and we had a great experience overall. I highly recommend checking out the hiking trails nearby
We booked Hectors property for a family getaway before back to school. The view from the property is stunning, and the space was big enough for all 7 of us. Meat Cove is a quiet and serene place. Hector was an amazing host-extremely responsive and beyond kind and accommodating. We hope to be back!
What a beautiful view! Lots of room. Hector was amazing. Super responsive, quick to address any questions and helpful with suggestions. So friendly. Super nice gentleman. Thanks for the hospitalirty!
Had a great time!! All furniture was very comfy, rooms were perfect, view was awesome!! Hector stopped by to see if we needed anything and brought fresh rolls from a bakery, and brought supplies for building a fire too.
We overbought at a grocery store and had a choice of throwing everything out or leaving it so we left cokes, yogurt popcorn etc behind. Couldn’t take it with us. Hope that was okay.
We went to many places to shop and took a whale tour and saw a whale, seals, bald eagle etc. Good times!!
We were very lucky that we had full sunshine and beautiful weather the entire week! Wonderful vacation, could not ask for better. 100% perfect!!
Truly a wonderful and unique experience to stay here and a great place to spend the night after hiking highlands national park during the day. We really enjoyed our time here.
We had a wonderful stay. The location is very remote but that is what we were looking for. It offers stunning ocean views and is very close to a lovely and quiet beach. Hector was an excellent host.
Stayed four nights with family and friends. Enjoyed nearby hikes, Meat Cove beach, freshly caught fish and snow crab. This place is a gem and was a perfect location for sharing a meaningful family trip with my 94 year old dad.
Magnificent views right from the front porch. Very clean and comfortable. Wasn't quite expecting it to be quite so remote, however turn out to be a great vacation.
This property was incredible! It checked off all of our boxes, and even the boxes we didn't anticipate. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and I would stay there again next time I'm in the area.
C’est un endroit magnifique! La vue est à couper le souffle! Le chalet est situé dans un endroit unique. Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans un chalet douillet! Il ne manque de rien. Le proprio de cet endroit pense au confort de ses locataires!
Great house in a spectacular location with a fantastic host
You stayed for five days, which many people thought it was too long, but we didn’t wanna leave at the end. Meat Cove is the most beautiful spot on Cape Breton and this house is perched on a hill about a mile above it. It has 270° views of water from which you can see many whales and the feeling of complete seclusion. There are two decks to relax on or look at a starry night, lots of lounge chairs, a park bench to eat outside, and a huge fire pit.
This is not a Ritz Carlton, but the quality of the house is actually much better than the pictures convey. The five bedrooms I’ll have queen beds with good mattresses. The house is spotless and the kitchen was very well appointed.
Hector was an amazing host took us fishing in the back country on his RVs.
Our family will have the lodge at Meat Cove in our fondest memories for ever. We were very sorry to leave this beautiful place. The view is unlike any other. The little beach is great and the trails were fun.
The owner Hector was great. He was helpful, friendly and interesting. The property is spacious and clean but is rustic in style. It had everything we needed.
Even the road, which is rough became part of the charm. (But it’s rough!)
The location which is in the middle of the Cabot Trail, and gives good access to both sides.
My only advice is to get groceries and supplies early as the CO-OP closed early throughout our stay.
If you’re considering this property, just book it. You’ll be happy, we were.
We are a family of 5 and were very pleased with our accommodations while we used this property as our home base for three nights when visiting Cape Breton for vacation. The house was clean and there were sufficient towels and washcloths for our family. The kitchen was well stocked with the appliances and other kitchen items we needed while staying there for meal prep. There was wood for the fire pit and sticks to use for marshmallow and wiener roasting. The proprietor stopped by to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed and we had a very nice chat with him.
As we had done our research prior to booking, we knew the property was remote and we would have to drive on some hilly dirt roads to get there, so this did not detract from our stay.
The photos for this place do not do it justice. It is in an incredibly beautiful location and the view is amazing. The house is large and comfortable and has everything you need. Hector was very friendly. We did some hikes in the area and enjoyed our ocean views when relaxing in the house.
Comfortable accommodations with an amazing view in a perfect location!!!
Comfortable, spacious and practical accommodation with a view!
This view is nothing less then spectacular with a good privacy. This property on top of having a fantastic location and view also has a large firepit with plenty of outside seating. Our dog run around the property without being tied up or restricted for almost a week and he loved it. There were no ticks during our stay even though our dog spent a lot of time in the forest and brushes. Everything were super clean and tidy with large outdoor space. Remember the views here are better then most if not all lookouts. Don't pass on this opportunity
We spent 5 wonderful days at the Hines Lodge. Hector is a pleasure to meet and was very helpful with recommendations of what to do in the area and even when to get fresh snow crab. Check-in was simple. The view is stunning. We spent a lot of our time on the porch enjoying the view or at the campfire watching the sun set. We will definitely go back some day! While the kitchen is stocked with the basics, if you love cooking (as we do!), you may want to check with Hector about what is there in terms of supplies before you go.
The door was opened when we arrived with a key to lock. Everything was clean and the listing was accurate with the equipment in the house. There was ice and coffee available. Wood was provided for the evening.
Communicated with the owner via email and he was quick to answer.
The views are absolutely spectacular! I would recommend this space for any group.
