We had a really great time here. Going anywhere with 2 young boys is always a worry with how suitable it would be, but The Coach House was perfect. They absolutely loved the bunk beds and the play area outside. We had more than enough space for the 4 of us. The cottage was well equipped for us to self cater for the week and it was lovely and clean. The location is perfect for exploring the Peak District including Matlock and Matlock Bath which is where we would also go to the supermarket. Nigel was an excellent host and really made us feel very welcome as well as the great family next door. We had a great holiday and are looking forward to the returning in the future. Your photos were totally wrong They showed one double bed in the main bedroom and a smaller bed but when I arrived there was a bunk bed in a much smaller room with a small window, nothing like the photo. HadIseenthis on your website I would never have booked the property The owner removed the top bunk, which made lt more comfortable for me. ##### Patricia A. Heating system worked brilliantly when we needed it as we were snowed in last two days. The perfect place to walk from direct, We found wonderful walks from our doorstep. Very peaceful and quiet setting. Highly recommended - thanks Nigel! ##### Simon D. Nigel and his family made us feel so welcome, loaded us up with firewood for the wood burner and gave us great tips for dog friendly walks We had brilliant weather and did a couple of big hikes on the Peaks as well as just enjoying the cottage and the fields behind Thank you Nigel, we will be back, Anna and Family ##### anna a. Perfect for 2 adults and our dog, fenced off garden so we relax knowing our dog was safe. Rural location but only 20 minutes or less to Buxton, 15 to ashbourne, matlock or bakewell. Several local pubs but check online opening times especially if you would like food. ##### Scott G. Stayed 7 nights in Sep 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### ANN J. 29 Jun 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, listing accuracy #### Cottage The cottage is advertised as Limestone cottage on VRBO but the actual name of cottage is The Coach House,we had terrible trouble finding it we happened to bump into the cottage owners mother and she said she would take us to cottage after telling her the owner is called Nigel. otherwise the cottage is great and has everything you need you do need a car as it is remote. ##### ANN J. Stayed 7 nights in Jun 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Craig P. 18 Jun 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### A relaxing and enjoyable week away Rurally located in a lovely small hamlet yet within very close driving distance of Matlock, Bakewell and a host of other great places to visit and walk, the cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. Nigel was there to greet us on arrival which was nice and explained everything we needed to know however there is all the information needed in a folder should you need it. We needed to let Nigel know about the toaster which had stopped working which we could manage without using the oven grill but in record time, a replacement was provided! Nigel and other family members we met were very friendly. We had our daughters dog with us for the week and he settled in straight away. Would recommend staying at the old coach house. ##### Craig P. Stayed 7 nights in Jun 2023 ### 8/10 Good #### Beverley F. 15 Jun 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location #### Lovely Cottage but not as expected The cottage was lovely and the owner had thought of everything you could possibly need to stay. The location was lovely too. However I did ask the owner a few questions relating to the set up of the cottage which was important to us as we took 2 dogs who can be reactive around other dogs and wanted to ensure it was private. I was told it was fully enclosed and private which it is not. The cottage is at right angles to the owners family members cottage, they have a dog which we were not told about which caused issues with ours. There was no privacy at all as you looked out onto each others cottages and it felt like you are on top of each other. The owner asked that the dogs be kept downstairs but it is open plan to get upstairs and we were also not aware that the bedroom is a mezzanine floor with no door just a curtain. Every attempt was made to keep the dogs downstairs but even if they do manage to escape upstairs there is no way of stopping them from entering the bedroom. There is no washing line to hang washing as shown in the pictures and the barbecue is broken so no barbecue either. These are not major things but had we know about the open plan and the lack of privacy and the dog next door we would not have booked so this cottage was not really ideal for us. That said it is a lovely place to stay and would be ideal for anyone without reactive dogs who doesn't mind overlooking another cottage. ##### Beverley F.
