Living Area: The main living space is warm, bright, and inviting, with natural wood tones and windows overlooking the surrounding trees. Settle in with a record, play a board game, curl up with a book, or relax with a movie after a day in the mountains. The cabin includes a kitchen where you can prepare meals and snacks during your stay, along with an espresso maker for slow mountain mornings.
Main-level Bedroom: The main-level bedroom features a queen bed, soft linens, and peaceful natural light. Its location on the main floor provides convenient access to the kitchen, living area, and bathroom.
Loft Bedroom and Private Balcony: The upstairs loft retreat includes a second queen bed, a small library, a dedicated workspace, and its own private balcony tucked into the trees. Please note that the loft is accessed by stairs and is open to the living space below.
Bathroom and Jetted Tub: The bathroom includes a shower and a jetted soaking tub -- one of our guests’ favorite features. It is a wonderful place to unwind after hiking, tubing, exploring Asheville, or spending the day wandering through nearby mountain towns. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh towels are provided. The tub and shower have a higher step for entry, which may not be comfortable for every guest.
Outdoor Living: Two private decks invite you to slow down and enjoy the mountain setting. Start the morning with coffee among the trees, listen for the river below, read in the afternoon, or step outside at night to enjoy the quiet and look for stars. The outdoor areas are intended for peaceful relaxation. Outdoor fires are not permitted.
Seasonal Wood Stove: The wood stove is available from October through March. We provide a complimentary starter bundle of firewood during wood-stove season, and additional seasoned hardwood may be purchased from us or brought with you. Please note: the wood stove is closed from April through September.
Wi-Fi and Workspace: Fast, reliable Wi-Fi and a dedicated upstairs workspace make the cabin a comfortable option for remote work, writing, creative projects, or an extended mountain stay. Because the cabin is in a wooded mountain setting, occasional weather-related service interruptions are possible.
Families: Families are welcome at Ivy Bluffs. We provide games, puzzles, books, and plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area together. Please be aware that the property includes stairs, elevated decks, uneven terrain, and some areas without handrails. Children should be closely supervised throughout the property. Sleeping is limited to the two queen beds. Sleeping on the couch or in other areas of the cabin is not permitted.
Optional Homemade Scones: Make your mountain morning even cozier by adding a fresh homemade scone delivery to your stay. Seasonal flavors are available for $20, with homemade honey butter available for an additional $3. Availability may vary, so please message us in advance if you would like to order.
Parking and Cabin Access: The cabin is located above our main home on a wooded mountain property. Guests have one reserved parking space near the main house. From the parking area, you will walk up a short gravel path and two sets of approximately seven steps to reach the cabin. The path is uneven in places, and some stairs do not have handrails. The driveway is paved but steep. Guests should not drive beyond the designated parking area or onto the gravel section leading toward the cabin.
This property is best suited to guests who are comfortable with:
-A steep mountain driveway
-A short uphill walk from the parking area
-Gravel and uneven terrain
-Stairs, including some without handrails
-A higher step into the tub and shower
Please review these details carefully before booking. We want every guest to arrive knowing what to expect and feeling confident that the cabin will be a comfortable fit.
Privacy and Hosting: You will have private access to the entire cabin, both decks, and all indoor guest spaces. We live nearby at the main house and are available if you need assistance, recommendations, or supplies. We respect our guests’ privacy and will leave you to enjoy the cabin unless you reach out or an urgent property need arises.
A Welcoming and Inclusive Retreat: We proudly offer a safe, affirming environment where LGBTQ+ guests, families, couples, and travelers of all backgrounds are welcomed and respected. Our goal is to provide warm, thoughtful hospitality while giving you the privacy and space to fully relax.
Explore the Area: Ivy Bluffs offers easy access to some of Western North Carolina’s most loved mountain communities and outdoor experiences:
-5 minutes to downtown Marshall
-15 minutes to Weaverville and Mars Hill

Guest access: You’ll have full private access to the entire cabin, including both decks and all indoor spaces. For comfort and safety, we ask that sleeping is limited to the two queen beds (no couch or loft sleeping).
