The property was clean and well maintained with a wonderful view of Lake Superior from the backyard. It was conveniently located near Munising Falls and the Sand Point Beach on the Pictured Rock National Park lakeshore. The bathrooms were clean and updated and the kitchen was fully functional. The property has two units, one of which we rented, in the basement of a home. The unit was spacious enough for 6 people (3 queen beds) to sleep with an additional two sofas if needed. Lovely property with gorgeous views of Lake Superior. My husband and I stayed in the Chapel Rock room. It was very comfortable with a large bathroom and great view of the lake from the bed. This bedroom and the Grand Portal bedroom share the kitchen, dining room and living room so if you feel uncomfortable staying in a house with people you don't know, make sure you book both rooms. We were lucky that no one else booked the other room so we had all the space all to ourselves. Our favorite part was sitting in front of the window in the living room just watching the sunset. The whole place was clean and very cozy. Joanne, whom lives on the property, was such a joy to talk to. She was very informative about the area with lots of suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. She made us feel at home. It is just a short drive to downtown Munising and the Pictured Rocks. The room was quite comfortable, and view from the living room window was beautiful. You will share the kitchen and living area with another set of guests, so if you are looking for a private stay, this may not be your choice. It is also not a bed and breakfast -- When Wade greeted us and showed us around, he indicated that he'd be giving us $40 to reimburse us for breakfast since they wouldn't be serving breakfast, but he did not have any cash on him at that time. We never did get that money. The place is a bit worn -- many of the windows are broken and won't open. The main issue while we were there was a very big ant problem. Ants where everywhere in our room and throughout the home. I was able to find some vinegar in a cupboard and that seemed to help a bit. They knew there was an issue because there was a little bottle of ant killer on the kitchen counter. The other issue right now - and this is of no fault of the owners - is that there is construction on a local road requiring a detour. Lovely property with gorgeous views of Lake Superior. My husband and I stayed in the Chapel Rock room. It was very comfortable with a large bathroom and great view of the lake from the bed. This bedroom and the Grand Portal bedroom share the kitchen, dining room and living room so if you feel uncomfortable staying in a house with people you don't know, make sure you book both rooms. We were lucky that no one else booked the other room so we had all the space all to ourselves. Our favorite part was sitting in front of the window in the living room just watching the sunset. The whole place was clean and very cozy. The lady whom lives on the property, was such a joy to talk to. She was very informative about the area with lots of suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. She made us feel at home. It is just a short drive to downtown Munising and the Pictured Rocks. This is NOT a bed & breakfast and should be renamed. The only thing offered was coffee and tap water - no ice for a cold drink. We could hear talking and loud footsteps in the host's living space above our bedroom. You are given a 1.5 hour window to check in so be aware of that. On check out morning we were still in our room dressing when the host opened our bedroom door using the code, two hours before check out time! I rarely leave reviews but i feel like this one needed it. The place was very clean but it is a mother in law suite with two bedrooms and you essentially rent 1 bedroom and someone else rents the other. The mother in law doesn't live there but she is the one that checks you in, she does tell you she loves to be in the apartment when it's not rented. It's very personalized with family pictures and the dining table is set with formal place settings, making it uncomfortable and not able to use the table. You have no control over the heat and it was kept very warm day and night making sleeping uncomfortable. They don't serve breakfast, (one reason we stay at bed and breakfasts), she gives restaurant recommendations of places to go for breakfast. We had the upstairs bedroom and would hear the family early in the morning doing laundry and doors closing. Because it was warm we had to open the windows and when the other couple left or came back they walked past our window, waking us up at night. We left a day early and when I informed the owners we were leaving early they simply said ok. Didn't ask why, or if there was anything they could do.
