It is the place where you find Istrian tradition, great hospitality and beautiful nature in one place. Sailors house has it's own courtyard with two parking spaces, olive garden and external stone built shower. Outside there is also a toilet, sink and a washing machine. The house is 70 m2 big, it has ground floor, 35m2, with living room, kitchen, bathroom, stairs and a fireplace. On a first floor, also 35 m2, there are two bedrooms and a small hall. The house is traditionally decorated, stone + wood, with many ornaments like old sewing machine, navy knots, ship barometers, recalling to the great maritime history of Rakalj. We were there off season when the temperatures were cool, and it rained most of the week. The beautiful stone fireplace warmed the downstairs well, and helped us to enjoy our long days indoors. The kids appreciated the games that were provided in the house. The upstairs is plain, but the beds are comfortable, and the upstairs space heater warmed that area sufficiently. The bathroom is tiny, and the shower a bit grungy...that was definitely our least favorite aspect of the house. The kitchen is ok for simple stovetop meals. We cooked in most nights and found it met our needs. There is a nice table outdoors if you have good weather, and a nice bathroom outside as well. The owner was extremely helpful, happy to bring additional firewood, make a dinner reservation, even pick up a charger cord for our phone when ours bit the dust. His hospitality and assistance was much appreciated, and really enhanced our enjoyment of the rental. Das Bad ist kleiner als klein, Fugen sind verschimmelt. Zu wenig Geschirr und nur 2 Kochplatten und alles sehr eng und keine Abstellflächen. Wir waren zum Glück nur zu zweit für mehr Personen finde ich es zu klein. Was auch sehr ärgerlich war ist das kein Schattenplatz vorhanden ist, wäre mit einem Sonnensegel mühelos erledigt. Wenn das Wetter eventuell nicht so gut ist, wird es mit 5 Personen vielleicht aber ein bisschen eng. Dadurch dass wir die Außendusche nutzen konnten, war aber alles in Ordung. Nette Bar mit Snacks um die Ecke, und ein kleiner Supermarkt vor Ort. Die Strände sind gut mit dem Auto oder sogar zu Fuß zu erreichen und fast menschenleer. Auch unser Hund hat sich wohl gefühlt, weil das gesamte Grundstück ummauert ist. Auch der Kontakt mit Josip war super. Wir können uns vorstellen wieder zu kommen. ##### Reiner D. Besonders gut gefallen hat uns die Aussendusche samt kleinem Häuschen, das eine gute Erweiterung des kleinen Innenbades darstellt. Danke Josip für die super Unterstützung und Tipps während unseres Aufenthalts und bei der An- und Abreise. Josip schafft es einem das Gefühl zu geben willkommen zu sein und kümmert sich sehr um seine Gäste. Wir hatten das Gefühl, dass ihm die Gäste am Herzen liegen. Er ist stetig dabei den Aufenthalt für die Gäste zu verbessern, so gibt es beispielsweise nun auch eine schöne Sitzgelegenheit aus Holz um gemütlich draußen zu essen oder man kann nun auch perfekt auf Holzliegen die Sonne genießen. Die Natur ist gigantisch. Gleich um die Ecke ist eine Bar/Kneipe, wo wir fast jeden Abend waren. Der Vermieter ist sehr authentisch, sympathisch und unser Hund -wie auch wir- wurden herzlichst empfangen. Zur Begrüßung gab es einen leckeren Honiggrappa :-) Josip, der Vermieter, spricht englisch und lernt deutsch. Das Haus ist zwar eingezäunt, aber die Mauer ist nicht sehr hoch, sodass ein Ausreiserhund schnell weg ist. Außerdem ist das Haus klein, aber hat alles was wir brauchen. Das Bad ist zwar sehr eng, aber es gibt eine Außendusche und Außentoilette mit Waschmaschine. Lediglich der Grill war ein Reinfall, aber der Vermieter ist schon dabei, einen großen Grill zu bauen. Das war das einzige Manko. Allerdings hat uns der Vermieter angeboten, noch während unseres Urlaubs einen anderen zu besorgen. Und das war typisch: der Vermieter war jederzeit ansprechbar und hätte uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Er hat uns auch ein Tour mit dem Motorboot in Pomer vermittelt, wo auch der Hund mitdurfte. Der Vermieter hat uns eingeladen zum Brot backen, wo wir seinen Vater und die Oma kennenlernen durften, die ebenso sympathisch sind. In dem kleinen Museum in Rakalj, in welchem der Vermieter mit seinem Vater sehr engagiert ist, erfuhren wir viel über die Geschichte von Rakalj. Man kann zwar zum Strand laufen, aber es ist schon etwas beschwerlich (besonders der Aufstieg). Der Strand ist felsig und steinig und z. T. gibt es viele Seeigel. Dafür findet man viele kleine versteckte Buchten, wo man alleine ist. Im Dorf gibt es einen kleinen Laden, wo man sehr viel bekommt und sogar mit Kreditkarte zahlen kann. Für einen größeren Einkauf fährt man nach Pula. Dort befindet sich am Ortseingang ein großer Supermarkt (Mercator). Nur das Pfandsystem ist merkwürdig. Man muss seine Einkaufszettel behalten und wieder mitbringen mit dem Leergut (Glasflaschen); Plastikflaschen kann man nur in Pula abgeben! Wir haben die Flaschen gesammelt und im separaten Beutel neben den Container gestellt (mit Einkaufszettel). Alles in allem war die Ruhe sehr erholsam, der Vermieter sehr liebenswert und engagiert und wir kommen hoffentlcih nächstes Jahr wieder! Das Haus liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Dorf-Zentrum; dennoch ist es sehr ruhig und erholsam dort. Eine Gaststätte, in der wir oft und gerne einkehrten liegt gleich um die Ecke. Ca. 80 m weiter ist ein kleiner Kaufladen, wo alles Notwendige beschafft werden konnte. Das Haus ist umgeben von einem schönen gepflegten Grundstück mit Oliven-Bäumen. Das Grundstück ist vollständig ummauert; so konnten wir unsere Hunde, die ebenfalls sehr freundlich begrüßt wurden, unbeaufsichtigt im Garten dösen lassen. Falls eine Anreise mit dem Fahrzeug erfolgt, kann auch dieses vor dem Haus sicher abgestellt werden. Wir haben im Ferienhaus nichts vermisst. Neben einem schönen Kamin ist auch eine Satellitenanlage vorhanden (falls das Wetter mal nicht mitspielt). Auch eine Klimaanlage (mit optionaler Heizfunktion) ist installiert. Unser Vermieter war äußerst zuvorkommend und hat uns sehr fürsorglich betreut! Unter anderem versorgte er uns kurzfristig mit Kaminholz (kleiner Tip: Wer gerne Wein trinkt, sollte sich beim Vermieter informieren! Die Familie verfügt über ein Weingut. Uns hat der Wein sehr gut geschmeckt; Wir haben dann auch noch ein paar Flaschen mitgenommen). Der Weg zum nächstgelegenen sehr schönen Strand wurde uns gleich nach der Anreise gezeigt (dort waren wir häufig ganz alleine). An einem Tag haben wir uns ein Motorboot in Rabac (etwas nördlich) gemietet; auch dieses hat unser Vermieter zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit vermittelt. Ein toller Urlaub in einem schönen Land, mit sehr freundlichen und herzlichen Menschen. Wir sind uns einig: Da möchten wir nochmal hin. It was absolutely fantastic. The house is great for children, the village is quiet and unspoilt with lovely beaches but still well provisioned (shops, a great restaurant) for tourists. Josip, the owner, went out of his way to help us and make sure we had a good time.
