We enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin! The cabin had everything needed for a nice fish fry and a good cold drink! We needed a restful break and we got it here. Our sweet "fish dog" Carly Simon enjoyed the lake! Thank you!
This was our second visit in 2 years and we enjoyed it even more. The updates since our last visit were great. Great location to get to all the sites in Manistique and Munising.
We had a wonderful time and the hosts were great. I forgot to retain the passcode info for check in and then had no wifi/connection to look up the info so we had to drive up the road a ways until we had cell service (this was totally my fault) so friendly reminder to remember to get the information so this doesn't happen to you! Thanks for the great visit to the UP!
We really enjoyed your little cozy home. Although the weather did not co-operate, we made the best of it by playing games inside and sitting by the fire to stay warm. We took a trip to Big Springs. This was the first time my daughter (22) and friends daughter (11) has been there. We enjoyed going out on the boat but could not find the paddle pontoon that you advertised. I emailed you but you did not respond. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we might try another trip when the weather is warmer.
If you want a cozy cabin that’s hidden away, then you have found the right place. My kids loved the kayaks/canoe/peddle boat. My husband loved the strong WiFi. I enjoyed the deck with the beautiful view. Be sure to bring supplies because there is no stores close by. Fair warning to cPap users, there is no close outlet to the bed. We had a great time and will be back. s.
This is a great little getaway cottage with everything you need to jumpstart your family or couples vacation. Host was very responsive when we needed them. The location is a bit rural, so planning ahead with things you need like provisions & firewood is essential. Great location to get to a lot of different sight seeing locations or set up well to just chill and hide away. Good location for kids, our tween/teens loved the water activities. Beautiful setting, great views of nature including wildlife. Good WiFi signal but cell service is lacking so maps and screenshots of the check in information are also essential. Host will remind you and give you a map which is very helpful. Highly recommend this place!
Quiet and relaxing location right on the handle of the lake that opens up to the larger portion. My family greatly enjoyed this location and the cabin fit all of our wants. We brought our own towels, but the owners provided more than enough in case we forgot. My 2.5 year old loved playing in the sand and had an absolute blast on the John boat with the trolly motor. Trish was great with communication and provided us additional information in regards of places to visit, shop, eat and whatnot. We mostly cooked at the cabin on the stove and outside with the pellet grill. Maybe a bit early in the season, but the weather was great for the most part and the breeze was still warm enough to relax and enjoy.
Nice place to stay. Good amount of stuff to keep kids entertained. They had fun with the kayaks and the peddle boat and watching the beaver that kept swimming around. The outdoor bar area was fun and the fire pit. GPS led us there correctly (some reviews said it didn’t) but even if it hadn’t the host had sent detailed directions that we could have used. The listing did make it sound like it was more private or secluded than it is. Also, in reading reviews we had read about the bathroom situation so we knew but the only access to the bathroom being through a bedroom is less than ideal when you have 2 families staying there. Other than that, it’s a nice place and we enjoyed it.
I cannot say enough kind words about our host, Trish. She is very responsive to all messages. The ease of check in/out was perfect. Trish even helped us give our dog with bad hips a chance at swimming the lake. We were so grateful! When we originally read the listing about modern amenities we thought (our fault-not hosts) it meant washer/dryer. For anyone looking to come for a week or more, the nearest place to do laundry is 50 min out, same for groceries. If you are a family looking to order out, keep in mind that that you are in the middle of the Hiawatha Forest, so bring what you need to cook/grill, water to cook/drink with too. The WiFi at the cabin is great, but if you aren't at the house, service is non-existent (it was awesome) for miles and miles as you travel the forest to head into a town. Lake shoes are a good idea if you want to wade in the water off the dock at the cabin. At night the bullfrogs and stars offered up a sense of tranquility, and the morning fog with the loons were spectacular. This cabin is in a perfect spot for you to travel the UP and be within a two hour trip to all the major sight seeing spots. I would give the property 5 stars, but the bunk bed was broken and the mattresses on the bunks were very old as well. Our boys had to sleep on the couch. The kids were looking forward to exploring the lake (the cabin is at the end of a lake and where it is located is more pond like) but the paddleboat was broken. Otherwise, we loved our stay and host!
My family stayed 4 nights at this cabin on Gooseneck lake. There are so many things we loved about staying here - the sandy beach, the kayaks, the toys (both inside and outside), the outdoor bar, the fire pit, the bounce house (!), and the dock. It's a very peaceful vacation spot. It was also very very clean (especially for a cabin with a sandy beach). The sandy beach is very nice but once your are in the water, it is 6 inches of muck. The kind of muck that swallows a croc and takes 20 minutes of digging to find. Our 3 year old could not swim but our 7 and 8 year old didn't seem to mind the muck. They did get very dirty and have to shower immediately after. We tried fishing off the dock and I'm pretty certain there are no fish in the water by the dock. The water is crystal clear. Also, there is a significant lack of outlets in the cabin. The kids room had no outlets. There are no outlets on the wall with all the big windows. We wanted to put fans in the windows to blow in cool air (it was very hot without A/C). We figured it out with some extension cords but it was tricky. One bedroom has a interior window that looks into the kids room so you have to be cautious when turning on the light in that bedroom because it will wake up the kids (there are curtains but it is very bright). Lastly, the outdoor fridge has a lock on it. This was disappointing because we were planning on using it for beverages. I would still highly recommend this cabin. We loved it.
Great up north cabin, has a nice beach but the lake is kinda mucky near the house, but found nice sandy spot at one of the public campsites nearby, great proximity to trails for riding and great property for hanging out and enjoying the outdoors
Great little cabin. My kids loved going out in the kayaks. It was nice to have internet that worked so well.. especially since our cell service was sparse in that region. The little kids also loved all of the toys to play with. The lake was peaceful. Beautiful area.
Our family had a wonderful time at this cabin. The backyard area with the bar was the perfect spot to hang out as a family and enjoy the lake. I would recommend this place to families w children of all ages.
My family loved our stay at the Kidd Lakehouse! There was lots of activities for the kids and for adults. Communication was really good with any questions we had. We would definitely book again!
My family loved staying at this cabin while we explored parts of the U.P. The cabin was very clean and very kid friendly. So peaceful and quiet! We would definitely recommend this cabin, especially if you have children.
