Lovely hotel. Modern and fresh. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was perfect and catered for the purpose of my trip, Manchester Marathon. Only downside was non site parking. Understandable given location. Metrolink a short walk at Shudehill for transport around the city too was a great convenience.

Good Morning Leanne, Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback based on your recent stay here at HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS - MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE ARENA. I would first of all like to take the time to apologise for the shortfall of service that you received at breakfast and it's very upsetting to learn that this was the only issue with your stay. Sometimes all guests can decide to join us for breakfast at the same time and this is something we have no control over and therefore the breakfast area can become very busy, this is usually within the last hour of breakfast running. We try and inform people at check-in if the breakfast is going to be busy and the best times to visit, however I apologise if this wasn't the case. It is our biggest importance to get the coffee machine fixed however are currently waiting for the suppliers to get a coffee machine part, this is on order and we are waiting for this to arrive for then these machines to be fixed. We do have a few machines set up and hopefully you was able to grab a coffee from these machines. Our staff work really hard in order to ensure everyone gets a hot breakfast in the morning, and I am pleased this showed however it's upsetting to feel that you found them to be understaffed at this time. I have passed this feedback onto our operations manager who can look at staffing requirements where needed.If ever in the city again, I do hope you would revisit us and give us another chance as this isn't the level of service you, or us expect. The fire alarm was triggered by an event in the hotel which required further investigation. The safety of our guests is paramount and something we take very seriously hence the investigation time required before being certain there was no emergency situation in the hotel and that it was safe for guests to return. This is an excellent hotel in Manchester for the price. It is not near Manchester Piccadilly train station, but it is a very short tram ride away. The hotel tram stop is a 5 minute walk. The hotel is located near a good mall and a ton of shopping and eating options. When the mall closes, most of the food options are fast/fried food however. You can also take a tram to the Manchester United Stadium in Old Trafford, and then that stop is about a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. The breakfast at the hotel was really good, and the hotel employees were so accommodating and pleasant. The heat wasn't working in the room, but they gave me a heater right away. The shower was clogged and they sent someone to unclog it right away. Please note that there is no microwave or fridge in the room (at least not in my room), so if you bring food to your room, you will have to consume it right away. The best part of the room was the beds, which were very comfortable. Everything was clean. The hotel does not get a ton of light however.

My recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express, while brief, was a mixed experience that highlighted both the conveniences and areas for improvement. Traveling with my family for just one night, we found the hotel's location to be its standout feature, especially for those planning to visit the AO Arena. The vicinity is bustling with a variety of dining options, there is hotel recommended paid parking at a discounted rate of £18 with a code, I discovered a nearby parking option for a more economical £6.70 for 20 hours. The room itself, although showing signs of age, was maintained clean. This aspect of our stay was satisfactory, meeting the basic expectations for comfort and hygiene. However, the experience took a turn when it came to the breakfast service. It was evident that the hotel was not adequately prepared for the morning rush, suffering from a noticeable lack of staff. This resulted in less than ideal service, which was a disappointment considering the importance of starting the day on a positive note, especially when traveling. On a brighter note, the selection of food available for breakfast was commendable for the price charged. It suggests that with better staffing and management, the dining experience could be greatly improved, aligning it more closely with the hotel's other positive attributes. The property is a great location although it is hidden. Room was clean but cold and accessible rooms are located on 5 th floor which for myself would be better located on the lowest level. Breakfast was good and staff were engaging and attentive.

Staff at the hotel were really polite and helpful. Was on the 8th floor which had great views of the city. Heating in the room was poor which is my only complaint, room was cold. Would definitely stay again.

Everything was great up until the morning. They had obviously not prepared for the amount of people staying. The shower was cold. The queue for breakfast was out to the lobby. No cups for coffee/juices, the staff were barely struggling to keep enough food out and everyone was fighting for seats. I do not blame the staff but something drastically went wrong that morning.

Terrible breakfast, Ok stay.
Hotel & Staff fine. Breakfast wow terrible, we’d go as far to say the worst ever in any hotel stay we’ve had. Wouldn’t stay here again but it was ok for what we went for.

Fantastic stay but only made great by one of the ladies upon check in . ( I don’t know her name ) but she saved our trip . I booked for a standard room and it did say could be a twin or double depending on request . I was worried to book however did so and chose the preference as a double bed . Also I emailed asking for double not twin to which the reply was they can’t garauntee but they’ll keep an eye out . We checked in and got to the room … twin beds . This wasn’t at all ideal as it was mine and my boyfriends first time away , his first time in Manchester and wanted it to be special . I rang up to which it was the same man who checked us and asked if there’s any other rooms available. He said no they were fully booked so I went down asking again if there’s any rooms he again said there’s no rooms available. So I asked could I have a refund as there’s a hotel over the road with a double bed . I’d already spent over £300 so didn’t want to just lose that . There was a lovely lady on check in who was so helpful and looked and got us a double room ( eventhough there was apparently no rooms at all available in the whole hotel and were fully booked :/ ) this woman was honestly a life saver ! The room was an accessible room but that didn’t at all matter . The room was perfect and well thought out to for a wheelchair user. I was honestly really upset if having to stay in a separate bed to my boyfriend and a surprise trip turned out well in the end. Thank you to the lady

When booking your room we have very limited availability and can only know on the day what rooms we have available, sometimes there is situations where a double booking has to be put into a twin room, this is beyond our control at our busiest times however I am happy to read that a member of our team was able to resolve this for you.I'm glad to hear the trip in the end was a success and hope you enjoyed your visit to the city and we hope to welcome you back to Holiday Inn Express soon.
