This is a beautiful boutique hotel. Our host Kevin was delightful and provided us great service. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. I am not a fan of big dogs, but Jasmin, the house dog was sweet and well behaved. I was a little nervous about leaving my car in the street, since there is no private parking, but all was well. We were made aware of all the security available for the street. I wish I would have had more time to spend in this lovely hotel.

Staying at La Polvora was one of the best things about our trip to Granada. Liam the owner has built a beautiful and charming boutique hotel with an excellent staff of caring, and professional people. It is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk from city centre and thus is not only on a quiet street it is also a more authentic local neighborhood. The room was spacious and attractive with beautiful Tile floor and French doors open right onto the pool patio. The pool is always impeccably clean and lovely, surrounded by banana trees and nice landscaping. We swam about 5 times a day and was a welcome oasis after touring in the very hot streets of Granada. Made to order Nica breakfast is great and the indoor/outdoor kitchen and dining area (complete with lush garden in the centre) is a great place to cook the fresh food bought at the market. One night some other guests and us cooked a big dinner/bbq and the staff and the owner dined with us at a big family style table. It was a really wonderful experience to share and get to know them while we stayed there, and to thank them for everything. In our 7 days in Granada we did most traditional activities and La Polvora arranged everything for us. Thanks to Liam and his attentive staff we were even able to spend a day on a spectacular private island, and be accompanied to the Noche de Aguizotes festival, a rare experience for tourists but they made it happen! This is by far my favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed and you will love it!

This hotel is like your home, away from home. Liam (owner) takes pride in his hotel. You see him everyday always working on the place. The staff is amazing and breakfast is to die for. I have stayed here every single time and each time i am convinced that this place is the best Hotel in Granada. Not to mention you are literally one block away from the Polvora fotress! A walk away from Parque Central and a hop away from Don Elba Cigar Factory.

The property was not bad for the third world country. However, the staff, even though trying to be polite and attentive, were not professional at all. The breakfasts were the biggest issue that I had. First of all two eggs and a small bun is not sufficient for a grown man. The same thing every morning and other choices (not much different from standard eggs) would be additional charge. I got bored after one week of the same, so I requested a little cheese added to my eggs. And after nine more mornings of eggs with cheese, I found out that the owner was charging me extra $3.00 for that cheese. Come on, you should be happy to add those few shreds of cheese to make my breakfast less boring. Anyway, during check out I found out that $27 was added to my bill for this. Their way of handling food is disgusting; They do not use gloves or tongs and the hygiene of the lady who prepares food is questionable, to say the least. Before arriving at the hotel, I requested a pick up at the airport. His price was $45. It seemed steep to me, but I thought it was the standard rate. When I was in Granada, I found out that the going rate was between $30 and $35. There are long line ups of taxis at the airport, and you can easily find one for $35 or less with a little bit of negotiating. So, the La Polvóra owner is just taking advantage of people who are not familiar with going rate and decide to trust him.

Dear R. We were sorry to see that you we're not completely satisfied especially as during your stay we felt we got to know you quite well. My staff and I chatted with you each day during your stay- sometimes for an hour or more - but we did not hear of any complaints or concerns. Your included Continental breakfast of coffee, juice, eggs with bread and jam plus a bowl of fruit was also customized at your request to include only pineapple as we learned that was your preference. I do know that you ordered omelet a few times and that has a stated additional charge. Our rate of $45 for our large air-conditioned transport is standard for Granada hotels, but anyone that wants to negotiate prices with local taxi drivers in their personal vehicles can of course do so and we'd not discourage them! Anyway our best wishes to you and apologies if you were not happy with the aspects of your stay that you mentioned. Best regards, Liam

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are spacious, clean and air-conditioned. We had an amazing stay. The staff is absolutely phenomenal. They go above and beyond. Kevin was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The staff is what sets this hotel apart from anywhere else I’ve stayed. Cannot recommend it enough. This will be my go to hotel every time I travel to get an hour from now on. Five stars

Hidden gem in this beautiful city
La Polvora is an outstanding little boutique hotel with super friendly staff, a beautiful breakfast courtyard, an equally pretty pool courtyard and their stunningly beautiful rooms. We were lucky to be given an upgrade to their new secret garden house for four people with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge kitchen and another little private courtyard with its own plunge pool. Thanks La Polvora, Liam, Kevin, Salvador and everyone else who made our stay special again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived late but the friendly and efficient Kevin at the front desk quickly got us settled in a spacious room with a great shower. A comfortable bed followed with a delicious breakfast under a beautiful mango tree and we were set for the next day!

Best Stay In A While
It is perhaps the best place to stay in Granada. I would recommend it to anyone. The owner put in great attention to detail when building the hotel. Small and comfortable and beautiful with an old world feel. Ask about their custom tile work. I loved it.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful Granada, Nicaragua
We loved the beautiful hotel and our beautiful, comfortable room with hot water in our private bathroom. Enjoyed the great pool and its surroundings. Excellent service, extremely well run with staff that took very good care of us, including Renny at the front desk (who speaks good English and thinks he doesn't!). Liam, the helpful owner, provided terrific restaurant recommendations and other suggestions. We enjoyed the breakfast, served in the pretty courtyard. We usually chose the perfectly cooked eggs and beautiful fresh fruit. The hotel is a bit off the beaten track. This has advantages. It is very quiet, and we enjoyed the real neighborhood feel of the area. But it is a bit of a walk to the center, would be a very fast taxi ride. We didn't want to leave!

La Polvora- Granada Nicaragua
The hotel is situated in a nice street, about 4 blocks from Downtown Granada. I loved everything about my stay, it was clean, free continental breakfast, the staff was super friendly. There is a dog and a cat that love attention, they actually gave me some comfort since I was missing my pets at home. I recommend this hotel 100%,

Oasis in Granada
This gem of a boutique hotel is truly an oasis in this sometimes rather loud and bustling city of Granada, and whether it is your breakfast, chilling at the pool or spending a night in this beautiful colonial style hotel, it feels absolutely wonderful to spend time at La Polvora. Great Hotel a quick taxi ride to town
We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Hotel Palvora. The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast good, and the staff helpful. The location was a bit further from town center than is optimal, but I do think it was quieter that way, and it's only a couple dollars for a taxi. The children loved the pool, and it was convenient they had a small menu available for lunch and dinner. We used their services for tours and drivers which was handy and reasonably priced, although the driver we had spoke no English, which would have been problematic had one person in our group not spoken decent Spanish. I feel like he was new and still unfamiliar with all of the tourist sites. It was not so much a tour as a drive and drop. Despite that small disappointment, we very much enjoyed our stay, and I would book here again.

Everything needed was provided. The rooms were new, clean, quite big and the beds were comfortable. The location was about a 15 min walk to the city centre. The pool was also lovely. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely stay at Hotel La Polvora
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in March and had a really lovely time. The hotel itself is extremely clean, facilities are lovely, and the staff were nothing but helpful and welcoming. The only thing I would warn about this place is that it is a little removed from the downtown core (about a 10 minute walk), which was not ideal for days that reached 40 degrees C - however, would be no issue at all on more temperate days. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at Hotel La Polvora and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Wonderful experience!!
I had a GREAT experience with the Polvora hotel; since is 10 min walking to downtown is quiet while near everything. The facility is well kept and staff are very nice; it gives you the feeling of"home away from home"; Pool, which I really didn't have time to use, is nice too. I only have good things to say about the hotel.

Great location in Granada! Beautiful Inn!
First of all, if you rent a car, be sure to visit a MovieStar location and update your Sim card with internet if you don't get cell service in Nicaragua! You'll need MapQuest or Google Maps to get where you need to go. We rented a car and found the city of Granada just fine but a lot of the streets aren't labeled and we finally asked some people near a church for directions to Hotel La Polvora. Everyone knows where it is! Once we got to the hotel we were able to park in front. Our car remained there for the entire 4 days stay and I wouldn't recommend driving around the city. Cabs are plentiful and they charge $1.00 US per person to go anywhere in the city. The staff was very welcoming and we were shown our room right away. The hotel is built in the colonial style with the lobby/entrance right on the street and then an inner courtyard with outdoor kitchen/dining and then the pool area was in the back of the property. Rooms were downstairs and upstairs and were really comfortable. If you want quieter accomodations ask for rooms upstairs and not facing the pool. The pool is saltwater, smaller, but very lovely. The place was good for children and we experienced a lot of kids while we were there and they all loved the pool! We did too. This is a good family place to stay if you have children with you. Breakfast was served mornings until 9 AM. They also have lunch and dinner available for purchase except on Wednesdays when staff goes home early.

Wonderful surprise behind simple front entrance.
We are 3 older single women who stayed at La Palvora for 3 nights during our short stay in Nicaragua. Staff was terrific and helpful as was Liam the owner. Beautiful boutique Hotel located in quiet neighborhood within easy walk to town center. I will definately stay here again.
