Everything was complicated

Posted 27-Feb-2017
Pros: Sascha on reception, she was the only member of staff that seemed interested, or willing to help
Cons: Redecorating, and some maintenance
Location: Plenty going on in the area, but be prepared or walk
Firstly, don't confuse the Fortina, with the Fortina spa as we did. But if you do, I hope you are lucky enough to have the receptionist called Sascha in the Fortina to help you out. We accidently booked the Fortina instead of the Fortina spa, we wanted to use the spa and were told we would have to pay an extra €10 each per use. Fortunately we managed to upgrade, and moved from a really small room to a larger, much more comfortable room for just €25. The Fortina spa is disappointing for 5*, everything is looking tired, and shabby. We were worried that the sinking the bathroom was about to fall off the wall. The spa is really scruffy, and cold, the jacuzzi is freezing. You can buy a ticket for the carpark for only €5 but can only buy it in the spa. The spa was closed at 7am when we needed to get our car from the car park. Everything seemed a bit complicated, and the hotel is a long walk from any decent bars, and shops etc. there's a lot of noise from the Point shopping centre which the hotel is next door to. I think for the price there's a lot nicer hotels to stay in in Sliema

This is a good value choice. We liked it.

Ok so a four star rating is debatable. However we thought the hotel was excellent

Pros: the staff spacious rooms
Cons: Variety of food in room service
The hotel is built in a great location at the heart of sliemma. They have a friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were convenient space. the food wasn't that great but your still surrounded by variant restaurants around you. In my opinion, the hotel gives you the right service for the right amount of money.

Never Again!

Posted 26-Nov-2016 on Hotels
Where should I start? First of, never ever would I recommend this hotel to anyone until they improve their hotel hygiene and rid off bed bugs. At 90 euros per night, the room did not meet expectations, hotel is outdated, in desperate need of a refurbishment, broken beds, rust on the edge of mirrors, and shower frames etc.. and (sauna/spa) not free for Hotel Fortina guest. They wanted to charge 10 EURO extra per person to use facilities. The hotel have no problems bullet points additional costs but not Spa fees? Misleading advertising! Overpriced and overrated!

Good base but far from 4*

Suitable for more mature holiday makers. Wonderful views of Valletta. Not much in Sliema but good access to everywhere else. People warm and helpful. Hotel customer service outstanding.

POOR

Posted 29-Oct-2016
Pros: The food and restaurants were very good.
Cons: The room.
Location: Sliema is a lovely place with lots of shopping and boat trips etc.
The room we booked online with Expedia was nothing like what we received! It was a shoebox with the bathroom door swinging onto the bed. The decor was 1970's furniture with the wardrobe doors stuck and just movable! The room is very small for 2 people and desperately needs updating! The "sea view" was a door at the side of the room.
