Malapascua Island is one of the many islets that make up the Cebu Island province. It’s just 1.9-miles (3-kilometres) long and about 0.6-miles (1-kilometre) wide. The island’s tourist hub and main entry point is the southerly barangay (village) of Logon. Soak up the sun, find shade beneath a coconut tree and cool off in the crystal-clear water at Bounty Beach and Logon Beach. Arrange scuba-diving and snorkeling excursions with the tour operators and outrigger boats, which line the beaches’ shores. Marvel at the vivid colours of untouched coral gardens and schools of exotic fish. Popular dive spots include Gato Island, Kemod Shoal and Lapus Lapus Island. Don’t miss the chance to swim alongside thresher sharks and manta rays at Monad Shoal.
Set out on foot and discover the secluded bays and beaches in the island’s northern section. Escape the crowds at Bantigue Cove and Guimbitayan Beach. Walk to the hilltop Malapascua Lighthouse, which affords impressive coastal views.

Reach Malapascua Island by catching a ferry from Maya, located at the northern tip of Cebu Island. January to April is peak season, when hotel and excursion prices can be higher. Typhoons are possible between May and December yet this period offers some of the best diving conditions.
