Not a 5 star hotel
I had booked the hotel and paid for online. Arrived at the hotel late in the evening to find the hotel staff not speaking much English and not very helpful. The receptionist said that the room had been booked but no payment was received and that we had to pay again. Even though we produced proof of payment he still demanded another payment. It was a problem with their bank I found out later. I did get a refund but it caused quite a bit of inconvenience. The room needed updating and the shower was dirty. The restaurant floor was not swept regularly during the buffet breakfast, there were bits of food etc on the floor. The lobby however is spacious and very good.

Standard has gone down, not a five star
I have stayed in Al Shohada hotel twice prior to this visit and i can clearly see the standard has gone down and it is certainly not a five start hotel. The positives: -The hotel staff quickly came to pick up the luggage on our arrival and safely took to our room -The reception staff looked nice and gentle, although had to bring in a translater on one occasion to explain one problem - The two issues related to shower/toilet were responded and fixed in quick time (within 30 mins) by the housekeeping staff who were humble and polite The negatives: - We booked a twin bed room for x2 adults, x2 kids through expedia and what we got is one king size bed. On multiple complaints, we were told sorry this is what we have to bear with, as hotel is full - We booked a non-smoking room through expedia and what we got was a room in a corridor full of smoking guests and bad smell all around. Again this was complained to reception but to no avail - The toilet flush wasn't working on first use and the shower drain was blocked. These were fixed on reporting but what i find disappointing is that these should be checked prior to room allocated to new guests - The housekeeping is TERRIBLE, of our 5 nights stay only once did the room service came to change towels/bed sheets and clean room (despite calling them 3 times and every time they acknowledge to come but won't). This room service bloke was a rude person and the hotel needs to teach him how to speak to guests.

Just a little better hotel
It was a good hotel but off course, not a Five Star as claimed.Furniture was very old and dirty, looking never replace, once installed. WIFI was not available at all. only available at Lobby, with cahrges of 25 SAR/day. Location is little far from Masjid al-Haram, take at least 10-15 minutes. Breakfast was good.

Disappointed by staff, housekeeping, smoking
I had stayed in this hotel 5 years ago on a work trip, and immensely enjoyed my stay. So I decided to book this hotel for my personal trip. I was very disappointed by the degradation of service over the years. There's a lot of potential for improvement. Housekeeping never showed up...in my 4 day stay, my wasn't cleaned once! There was a time when housekeeping knocked my door at 10pm and asked whether I wanted my room cleaned. Other than that I had to plead with the front desk/concierge,to ask for fresh towels, which fell on deaf ears all the time. People would smoke in corridors, and form groups there and make noise through the night. The corridors should be made non-smoking! And people should be barred from making excessive noise there after 9pm. There were sofas in front of my room where a group of men would sit all day, talk loudly, and smoke all day. Not the experience I'd expect in a 5-star hotel. The front desk could be more prompt too. I needed an iron for my clothes, and had to call 3 times over several hours to finally get it. Similarly, when I asked the concierge/bell man some questions about shuttle buses to Haram, he started advertising some local services for 'ziyarah' (historical sightseeing). The shuttle bus was quick,but not very helpful, since the road to Haram was closed off from quite far. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the main lobby is very well decorated and scented. The breakfast was phenomenal, and I really enjoyed it.

Firstly, I am truly apologising for the loud group , were next to you and I am sad to know ,they were smoking in Corridors which isnot allowed to smoke according to Saudi Civil Defence Department. Unfortunately, group of smoker guests , they were representing their behaviour & if the hotel security known about this case at that time the guest supposed to pay a fan & I do appreciate your kindness ,patience. Secondly, I feel disappointed to hear that your experience had some issues with Housekeeping. Our hotel represents comprehensive service including Housekeeping. In information map daily housekeeper supposed to severe guest room by offering cleaning room. We are really out of conceit with no one informing you at front desk about putting clean room sign in outside door to allow housekeeper service to clean your room, inform you that if they did not come you need to contact duty manager who will do immediately action for your comfort. Also, last 3 months we have 100% occupancy in our hotel & I feel sad , sometimes our housekeeping system fail to satisfy some of our great guest as you during their staying. We make a formal apology and I will discuss this with our responsible employees. I will pass your comments to the director of the housekeeping but I need your room number & name to write the case to do the procedure. Thirdly, we know that a successful start into the day is often supported by a sufficient be start from a good service from front desk & Concierge. I am so surprised for misunderstanding that happened to you with the front desk & Concierge staff. I once again apologize for you about what you have faced of issues with our staff in front desk & Concierge. I will discuss your case with our staff .

Receptionist is very arrogant, other staff is very friendly. No house keeping during stay. Very expensive compare to other hotels of same level. No WiFi. Very noisy because in room there was door between our and other room. Nice breakfast. 10 min walk to masjid haram.

the reception responsiveness and service was poor. no free WiFi even in the reception as was declerd. the carpets were old discolored and not clean. no coffe/tea making.

Hotel is losing its rating
earlier years consider to be one of the best hotels but now it is no longer. Employee at the reception were not trained well and a lot of mistakes with reservation center. Hotel service is not offered on the level you expect. actually nobody cares including their management. smell is every where on the floor i am in due to cleaning and it was stinking. Room service after the order and it reaches your room, they ask for cash only and as usual they forget to bring other items like bread to be part of the order. Housekeeping do not care or listen. we have asked for iron and table, we had left the hotel and it was not provided. in addition, you ask them to clean the room, they do not do it. you must phone them 2 or 3 times to do it. in regards to complaining, i complained many times and unfortunate, they promise to convey it to the manager but no reply or even a message to me. I promised my self and family will not book again in this really bad hotel.

Disappointing
Very unsatisfied first day the room was not clean lots of dust and bathroom not clean up to standards , damping all over. Staff were very helpful to be honest moved us to another room slightly better and then moved us to third room next day which was ok

Nice hotel close to Haram
This is a nice hotel. I had a little gotcha with respect to my booking. I had booked and Executive room with a King Bed but turns out ( documented by the hotel) the hotel had received a booking for a room with two twin beds, and the hotel did not respect my reservation and asked me to call Expedia. The hotel is pretty nice, it is a good 10 to 15 minute walk to Haram, but they also have a 24 hour shuttle which is only available sparingly.

Bad experience never come back.
Hotel receptionist very lazy to do his work or answer easy questions about restaurant or breakfast, don't check in in 3rd floor very noisy due to central Air conditioner machine, I had to request room change by midnight as I couldn't sleep with the noise

Best Customer Service
I stayed at the Shuhada Hotel twice. The hotel reception staff are always very professional, well-trained, and always great you with a smile. The facilities are clean and the hotel is conveniently located near the Haram. The hotel shops (such as the barber shop, small coffee shop, ...etc) make it easy after performing Umra/Hajj. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the Haram.

Excellent hotel
Al Shohada is an excellent hotel, but it is a little too far from the Haram Sharif. The breakfast buffet is good, house-keeping and Bell service are excellent. Hotel staff are always eager to help.

Friendly Place
All staff were helpful, Check-in took 5 minutes. Car parking was available and spacy. The room was clean and aminities were good. The only thing was that rooms have no WiFi while the looby had it but on charge basis which seemed outdated a bit (Only few hotels are still charging for internet use).

Nice hotel
Our stay at Al-Shohada was was very short but quite nice. We had shifted from another hotel and found much improvement here. Although the breakfast can be improved and the dining hall too.The table cloths were not clean whenever we went for breakfast and i felt as if the buns and croissants were not fresh. Over all, the hotel was quite good.

Good hotel but poor staff
a decent hotel to stay in. unfortunately, the staff at the reception especially were very arrogant and non-receptive. makes you curse yourself for booking at the hotel especially since you are there for pilgrimage and do not want to get into wrong kind of discussions. facilities were good. neat and very well put up. food is a disaster especially the breakfast. wifi is paid and even then you only have access in the lobby. my overall opinion is that for a hotel that looks and feel as good as it did, the staff working there are a big big let down.

Very nice hotel close to Haram
The hotel was very clean, comfortable & well decorated . Enough parking was available at this time of the year & it was free with the stay. Breakfast Buffet was very good but the dishes should be changed on daily basis because we stayed for 03 days and 3rd day it seems that we are eating the same breakfast every morning thats why it should be changed little bit every morning .The inside mini bar shop was also very good if you need some snacks. The staff was very helpful & friendly .Rooms were quite & comfortable. The beds & pillow were very comfortable. Some noise was due to construction going on around the Haram other wise the hotel rooms were very quite.

Location of the hotel is very
Location of the hotel is very good, close to the Masjid, it takes few minutes walk. It is in a central location. The hotel also provides 24 hours shuttle service to the Masjid. The brealfast has reasonable choices and good. The hotel staf are very positive and helpful. The road-side room gets some traffic noises from the main road which is adjacent to the hotel. It is a big and good hotel.

عليكم للاسف وللمرة الاولى في فندق اشهداء اطالب بدفع مبلغ مقابل موقف السيارة بالرغم من انني احد زبائن الفندق متى ما جيت لمكه للمعلو مية فان احد عوامل تفضيل فندق الشهداء هو وجد الموقف المجاني للسيارة بالرغم من بعد المسافه عن الحرم ولكن الا هذه الميزه الغيت
