Main Square

Property was purchased by another hotel vendor who also owns Praia Marina Hotel. Upon arrival at Varandas, there is no one there at the reception. You have to walk over to Praia Marina to speak to them, then come back wait for someone to come over to check you in. If you are an elderly person or handicap this is a huge problem. Then on the evening prior to leaving, we went over to Praia Marina because no one was at Varandas, so that we could set up for a taxi to pick us up the following morning to take to the hotel, there was no one in sight for over 5 minutes we waited and finally a girl and boy show up out of a room laughing and talking, they didnt even notice us, I waited another bit to not disturb, then finally had to call them out to get their attention. Once you get someones attention, they are very nice and helpful, its just if there is an emergency or you need something, there is a huge issue. I have stayed at both properties in the past and it was wonderful, but this time not having someone there to help with your needs, I find an issue.

Lovely apartment, spotlessly clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Town of Angra is very pretty, plenty to do for a week on the island.

Nice hotel in good location right across from a large sandy beach. Basic breakfast buffet and limited amenities on site. Staff was pleasant and helpful!
