The hotel served the purposes (one night stay pre-macchu picchu) - but it’s definitely not the destination. It is okay overall, most of the staff is friendly and the room was average.
Great location for an overnight stay before an early trip to Machu Picchu. Short 200 ft to the shuttle bus and train station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but basic. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Amazing location close to the main plaza. Helpful and welcoming staff. Clean room with great outdoor area and a decent breakfast. Overall, a pleasant stay.
Great location, close to the city center square. It did have an elevator as well so that was a bonus for me as the elevation impacted me immensely. The rooms did not have heat but there was a space heater that warmed up the room really well. The bathroom was small and the shower did not drain well so that was a small issue.
Breakfast was basic some fruits and cereal with a couple meat options but I didn’t eat much the entire trip with the Diamox altering my taste. Don’t leave any food or candy out as ants will swarm it. Good stay overall and would recommend it just be aware this is not a North American 5 or 4 star for that matter.
Elmer made our stay an exceptional one. From our arrival and help with our luggage to pointers on local restaurants, tour guides and transportation he smooth the way so that we could just enjoy this lovely property.
Staff were super friendly and helpful - lived the am breakfast crew

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
The hotel met our needs. Wish the pool and hot tub were working. Breakfast was nice but when they run out of food, they don’t get more. Safe area in MP, but the locks, windows, curtains or small patios didn’t provide confident security. We enjoyed the stay, liked the culture of the hotel and slept well with comfortable beds and pillows.
As always, service was excellent, comfortable beds and rooms. Located in a great spot and because is a bit inside the mountain is very silent at night. Love bello the dog’s owner, sweet and friendly.
I love the location and the hotel receptionist was very friendly however, keep in mind. You are very close to the centre square and there was a celebration that went on till 2 AM in the morning with fireworks that was so loud none of us could possibly sleep. Even with my earplugs and noise cancelling headphones . also there are a tremendous number of stairs that are extremely difficult to carry luggage up because they are so windy and meandering and the elevator was broken for the entire day. Also, there appears to be a hot tub, but it’s not functional. The breakfast is fine except the yoghurt was off, something bad about it despite them serving it. And the windows and doors do not close completely because there are small gaps that can let bugs in. If you have your lights on at night I would spray deet around the window frame and door frame if I were staying there again. But again the staff were very nice and helpful. And the bed was very, very comfy, even though I couldn’t get any sleep because of the noise. Hot water in the shower was excellent for our room, but not so far our friends room.. huge room rooms by the way lots of character. So I would stay again, but I would verify it wasn’t something going on in the plaza at night maybe a weekday not a weekend.
We could not have picked a better location for our stay. Gringo Bill's was just a few steps off the main plaza but away from the crowds and foot traffic. It was very quiet at night. The staff were extremely helpful.
