Sitting right on the bank of Lake Rescue, there will be no delay in summer fun with a private dock, kayaks, paddleboards, and more to really soak up the lakeside lifestyle. Come winter, the skiers of the group will absolutely fall in love with this location as well, as Okemo Mountain Resort is just four miles south offering a wide array of ski runs for all experience levels and Killington is 17 miles north. Downtown Ludlow is also near the mountain where you can stock up on groceries, grab a bite to eat from a local restaurant, or pop into shops to snag a souvenir. Though the exterior will charm even the most design-oriented of guests, step inside and you will immediately be greeted by the rustic exposed ceilings, homey hardwood floors, and mountain decor that will allow everyone to feel welcome and relaxed in no time. Not to mention, the well-equipped, full kitchen complete with a gas range, beautiful white countertops, and all of the appliances needed to whip up tasty meals will be the perfect touch to make this an ideal home away from home. After a full day of skiing in winter or kayaking in summer, everyone will love gathering for a movie night in the living room or stepping out to the back deck to watch the sunset with a favorite cocktail in hand. With four bedrooms and two baths, this place is well-suited for two couples or a large family. Please note the top bunks and pull out beds are intended to comfortably accommodate children. The home also has a dedicated office and a desk set up in each bedroom, making it ideal for remote learning or work. Please note: the waterfront dock features approximately 60 steep steps to access which may be strenuous for some guests. Things to Know Check-in time: 4:00 PM Check-out time: 10:00 AM All guests shall abide by the good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. Kayaks and paddleboards are provided seasonally. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 3 vehicles. Security camera details: Camera faces the walkway from the parking area and entry door area. Dock details: There is a dock set up at the shore and a floating dock farther out on the lake. Both are seasonal and there are no set dates for when they will be put in or removed. The kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are also seasonal with no set dates for when they will be put out for summer or removed prior to winter. Please note: this home resides in a noise-sensitive area and the owners participate in our Good Neighbor protection program. Our smart home technology will alert our team if excessive decibel or occupancy levels are detected, allowing us to reach out directly with a reminder of maximum occupancy and quiet hours. The kitchen was well stocked, and the bathrooms were clean. Plenty of towels and the beds were firm with clean sheets. The views of Lake Rescue were beautiful. The driveway was snow-covered, but with a 4WD, you should have no issue. The 'commute' to Okemo was easy - 8min max. The house seems to have been empty, so a musty smell permeated the home for the first day until the air circulated a few times. Not a big deal. The gas fireplace in the living room is a nice touch and warmed up the home quickly. Only knock was the cob webs in the upper corners of most rooms (the host fee included a 250 cleaning fee, so owner take notice, you are not getting your money's worth). ##### Scott C. It has some redeeming features, to be fair, and the photographer has obviously done an outstanding job, but it may really be more charming as a summer destination when the weather is fine and living is easy. ##### Zoran C. Had a wonderful weekend. When I asked the rental company a couple questions I got inaccurate information. I asked if there were life vests on the property, they said no but there were. One of the paddleboards was deflated so unable to use it. There were 2 others. A toilet paper hilder was broken off the wall. One in our group said the comforter was dirty. These were minor issues. Location was great. Lake was beautiful. The home was perfect for our group of friends, with ample bedrooms (each with its own TV, a surprise to us!), two full bathrooms, comfortable living and dining areas, a well-stocked kitchen, and sprawling outdoor space. We felt cozy without being on top of each other. The town itself is cute and we had fun exploring, especially the farmer's market downtown, but we were absolutely taken with the water views and private dock and spent most of our time at home. Being able to step outside first thing int he morning and have coffee on the water, or take a quick dip in the lake on a whim, was incredible.We also loved the aesthetic of the house. It was beautiful without feeling sanitized— we loved many of the modern touches, but appreciated that they kept elements from the original home. So many of the details felt deliberately thoughtful, which was so appreciated. ##### Alexandra S. Some of our guests couldn't go down to the water. There was no yard. The fire pit is basically in the parking area. There was garbage all over the yard, likely from raccoons. It’s a great house that comfortable sleeps 2 families of 4\. The lake is the big draw. The dock was improved this year and was larger than last year which was appreciated. The use of kayaks and paddle boards is wonderful. The one issue we had was that the outside trash can was knocked over (raccoon), leaving a mess for us to clean up upon arrival. The raccoon returned at 2am to knock it over again. Luckily, I had a bungee cord that was able to secure the lid for the rest of our weekend. It would’ve been nice for the property manager to have taken care of the trash situation in a more effective manner. ##### Khiet C. I will say that the picture of the L-shaped couch gave me the impression of a much larger house. Nevertheless, the negative review stems almost entirely from the frustration of navigating Vacasa, the outsourced property manager. Basically, we could not find the lifejackets in order to use all the great water toys (kayaks, stand up paddles) that the house offers. We lost almost an entire day trying to extract a simple answer, something the owners could have answered easily themselves. Each time we received a different vacasa rep's canned language. Around 1 pm on our first day, local manager was finally contacted and he immediately went over to fix the issue. His responsiveness was great, but it is extremely difficult to navigate vacasa in order to reach someone locally, which is just not the experience you hope for with vrbo.Synopsis of text exchange (18 hours into ordeal):Vacasa: local manager says life jackets are in front hallway closet.Me: the closet is locked.Vacasa: you do not have access to the closet.This is the type of poor service that completely casts a shadow over an otherwise lovely experience enjoying fall in VT.I will admit that this is in no way a reflection of the local manager, who quickly showed up to give us access to closet and also likely comped us an extended departure.I highly recommend for the owners to reconsider outsourcing the management of their lovely cottage. ##### Matthew M.
