The staff were great!

The Glendale Hotel is one of those older, well-established two-story properties that's really more of a motel than hotel. It worked perfectly well for me as a solo business traveler, but it was standard fare — nothing particularly unique. Although I didn't require or request it, they put me in a fairly large, plain-jane room with handicap access. Little to no art adorning the walls. Good features for business use. A dining table, a desk and plenty of outlets for electronics. Staff was very friendly. $15 charge for overnight parking.

feels like a home not a hotel

The first room we were offered stank of stale smoke! After complaining we were offered another room next door, which was fine. Rooms were large and a very comfy bed. The desk staff were fine, but one of the Door men was about as miserable as you can get! Sandra, the concierge was wonderful, helpful and friendly. the roof top area is OK, but think they should replenish the coffee pots more regularly, tasted stale. The sauna and jacuzzi areas were nice and well stocked. Our first night we turned right out of the hotel and in 5 minutes were in the middle of homeless land, full of druggies and gangs of very intimidating people. I wish we had been warned of this by the hotel, it was pretty scary! But turn left or go straight over towards Union Square and its a different world!

We enjoyed talking to the staff, very friendly. Very clean rooms, gym could use a little wiping down on machine handles a little sticky. Loved the stay, one comment would be nice to have had blackout shades because the lights outside the room were coming in from the garden area and prefer darker sleeping conditions. I do recommend staying here though.

It is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff is amazing. It was pricey since we had a car and a pet, but it was expected.
