This property is not a resort; it is an oversized, sterile hotel structured like an escape room horror game with zero signage.
I travel constantly for work and pleasure—this year alone I’ve been across Europe, Southeast Asia, and all over the US—so this is not coming from an inexperienced traveler with unrealistic expectations. This was meant to be my birthday trip, and it easily earns the title of the absolute worst trip I have taken all year. In fact, it is the first time in my entire life I actively wanted to cut a vacation short just to go back home.
The Atmosphere & Property
The vibe: It strips away all the warmth, heritage, and vibrant culture of the Dominican Republic, trading it for bland, European-budget architecture that feels uninspired and grim.
The smell: The hallways smell overwhelmingly of mildew and poor ventilation, reminiscent of a neglected, damp basement.
The guests: The entitlement among the crowds staying here is off the charts.
Food & Beverage Disasters
No welcome drink, no cups: Finding a basic plastic cup for drinks in the public areas was an ongoing scavenger hunt.
Recycled, inedible meals: Across the board—from the pool bar to the supposedly elevated "specialty" sit-down restaurants—the food is abysmal. French fries were cold and stale. The rice, every single day and at every single venue, was rock-hard undercooked.
