I strongly recommend you choose a different hotel when staying in Pasadena. Despite "no smoking" signs posted on every door, the hallway and room itself smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. The curtains didn't fully close, which meant street lights pointing into the room throughout the night. Water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent, with the temperature of the water fluctuating wildly from minute to minute.
If you do stay here, pay close attention to your confirmation email: they do indeed charge a cash deposit at check-in. For me that was $20, with my $20 bill stapled to my reservation form, and then the staple taken out and the bill returned to me at check-out. Not the worst part of the hotel stay, but something I've never seen at any other hotel.
Don't make my mistake, spend a few extra bucks for a better hotel.
