One of the best beaches in Torremolinos, this sandy stretch offers plenty of space, safe swimming and a buzzing annual music festival.

Relax on the pleasant, sunny Los Alamos Beach, which is also known as El Canuelo. This stretch of shoreline is one of the quieter main beaches in Torremolinos for 361 days of the year. Visit for 4 days in July, however, and see a different side to Los Alamos as the beach hosts an electronic music festival that draws in crowds of partygoers and music enthusiasts.

Choose somewhere to rest on the beach, which is almost 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) long. Rent one of the sun loungers and umbrellas or opt for the simpler choice of lying on the sand for a quiet day of sunbathing. The beach also offers Ping Pong tables and an outdoor gym for anyone wanting to keep active. Torremolinos is hot throughout the year, so you can enjoy the sun on Los Alamos Beach even in winter.

The sea here is tranquil and naturally sheltered, making it safe and fun for swimming. Go windsurfing on windy days without the danger of rougher seas or enjoy the fun of banana boating and paddleboating. Daring watersports enthusiasts can try kite surfing and be pulled into the air over the lips of waves.

Relax after a day on the beach by taking a seat at one of the bars or restaurants. Sip a cold beer or a crisp glass of wine while admiring views of the glistening Mediterranean Sea. Come back in the evening to party in the clubs that are scattered along the edge of the beach.

Buy tickets in advance to come for July’s Los Alamos Beach Festival. This increasingly popular weekend of gigs focuses on EDM and features internationally famous DJs on three different stages. Camp on the beach and take part in an unforgettable, nonstop party.

Escape the crowds of Costa del Sol’s most popular beaches and head north of Torremolinos to Los Alamos Beach. Drive to the beach, which is easy to find, and park next to it for a full day by the sea. Alternatively, walk to the beach in under 30 minutes from the town centre of Torremolinos.
