While Lokve itself is a small, quiet village, the best area to stay for most visitors is within the broader Gorski Kotar region, specifically in or around the larger towns like Fuzine or Delnice, which offer more amenities and better access to activities.Fuzine, located on Lake Bajer, is particularly well-suited for families and those seeking outdoor adventures. The town provides easy access to the lake for activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. There are walking and cycling paths directly from the town centre, and it's a short drive to attractions like the Vrelo Cave. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and holiday homes here, often with lovely lake views.Delnice, as the administrative centre of Gorski Kotar, offers a wider range of facilities, including shops, restaurants, and a sports hall. It's a good base for exploring the Risnjak National Park, which is a short drive away, offering hiking and wildlife spotting opportunities.

The best time to visit Lokve is during the late spring and early autumn, specifically from May to June and September to October. These months offer pleasant weather conditions, with comfortable temperatures that are ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and exploring the surrounding nature without the intense heat of mid-summer. The forests are lush, and the lakes are inviting, great for those who appreciate nature and a quieter experience. For travellers who enjoy water sports and swimming, the peak summer months of July and August are also excellent, although the area can be a bit busier.
