Overall a good quality hotel in a great location. Large and clean room, well served by the cleaning staff. However the attitude of the reception staff was at best surly and not the most helpful.

Great price ratio in the area
A great choice in the area, price quality is good. Breakfast is simple but enough. For business i will definitely come back. Parking can be very tricky as they have no parking and the parkings from 9am are paid.

Good stay.
Our stay at Mercure Carlton Rioja was okay. The air-conditioner was not working the first day/night. It was VERY uncomfortable! We had to open and keep the windows open the whole night just to try to stay comfortable. They fixed it the following day so the other 2 nights/days we stayed there were fine. Hotel needs some updating especially the reception area and the hallways. Hotel is centrally located. Everything was within walking distance.

Excellent location
Very nice hotel, convenient to restaurants and shopping. The parking ramp is pretty tight and you have to be very careful driving down or up the ramp otherwise you will scrape the sides of your car.

Superb service from a nice hotel
I’m not crazy about cities but we had a great time here. The hotel was exceptional, especially the service. Car parking wouldn’t be easy if you couldn’t get into their underground car park but we got in with a Mercedes Vito (and 21 point turns!). Hire some bikes and zoom around - well worth it.

Good location hotel was clean and comfortable. The only problem was they had the heater on all night and there is no way of controlling the temperature from the room. We opened the window but still was very warm.

Location was good - walking distance to the restaurant. Parking is limited - we had to park about 150metres away but it was easy to locate and costs €12 for 24 hours. Breakfast was very average. But room was decent.

Busy area, little parking, close to sites.
The worst part of this hotel was finding a parking spot. I circled around for 20 minutes before parking 3/4 mile away. Once you are there it is fine. It is a 5 minute walk to the main attractions of the city. Hotel is clean and staff friendly.

Comfortable upscale stay on the Camino
We're walking the Camino de Santiago and stayed at the Carlton Rioja for one night. It's just a couple of hundred metres off the Camino and not difficult to find. The location is quite close to the historic area where small bars and cafes abound. Our double room was quite large and well appointed. It was so nice to have a bathtub (shower combo) for a long soak. The room had blackout curtains so it was dark for sleeping although we didn't find the twin beds very comfortable. Our window looked out to a cement wall. The front desk staff was slow to check us in - a female staff was busy with other guests and a male staff member was preoccupied with busy work until the female staff member directed us to him after we'd been standing waiting for 5 minutes. Later, the female front desk staff member was helpful in arranging a luggage pick-up with an outside agency. Overall it is a very modern and spacious hotel in a good location. It was a nice change from most of the other accommodations we've had on the Camino. We would recommend the Carlton Rioja to other travellers.

We had to ask to change our first room as as soon as we arrived due to rather unpleasant odours ! We looked at several others and had no problem changing to another room. Our main purpose in visiting Logrono was to visit the local bodegas, some of which we pre-booked and others not. Dionysius on reception was very helpful in making suggestions, advising on buses, calling us taxis and booking other visits for us. My wife speaks Espanyol and I think we may have been struggling with English only. The hotel was functionally OK but is probably due a bit of a make-over decor-wise. No safe in the room - we were advised that we could have a key to an allocated safe in a room near reception which could only be opened with our key and simultaneously by someone with reception and his own key. Not very practical !! Buffet breakfast was good, with lots of variety and fresh fruit.

Clean and modern hotel along Gran Via in Logrono. Beds weren't the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in, but not bad. Temperature control in room didn't seem to work, and room seemed stuffy at times. Fortunately, the window could be opened for cooler fresh air.

Great Hotel for a short break or longer!!
This is my second visit!! I stayed in August on my way home and enjoyed my stay so I decided to stay this time. The hotel is superb the staff are very helpful nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are modern clean with products and mini bar with reasonable drinks. It is in a perfect position for visiting the square and wine bars and restaurants.

Conveniently situated, only a few minutes walk to the cathedral and restaurants. We parked in the hotel carpark as it would have been impossible to find street parking close by. Had breakfast at the bar next door, very convenient and very good value.
