Another nice stay at Pennine Manor. Yet again in one of the superior rooms, which was very spacious and clean. Sadly, there was no bottled water despite it being advertised. Upon asking at reception (which has now moved into the bar area) I was informed that they couldn't supply any bottled water. The full English breakfast was very nice, with generous portions. We've stayed several times and will probably do so again. As usual, ample parking space outside. The (new?) staff were friendly and approachable.

Very disappointing stay, particularly considering the price paid. The room was comfortable and the shower good, but housekeeping standards declined throughout our stay. Even after servicing, sheets were not changed, the floor was not hoovered and the bathroom was not mopped. Breakfast was poor in both quality and service, and got worse as the week progressed. We ate in the restaurant one evening and paid premium prices for very poor food. The pizza appeared to have a shop-bought base and tomato purée instead of pizza sauce. We were told nobody finishes it because of its size; we struggled because of the quality. The hunter’s chicken was dry, with what appeared to be reheated breakfast bacon and barely any BBQ sauce. Staff were inattentive and at times overly familiar. We only saw uniforms twice, while staff were regularly smoking or vaping by the main entrance. Parking cost extra despite the already expensive stay, and this was not made clear beforehand. Given the location, the charge felt unjustified. We did not complain during our stay because we were concerned about how a complaint might be received. Overall, basic standards of cleanliness, food and service were lacking. I cannot see what warrants the “Plus” designation and would not return.
