"The hotel was nice enough and our room was clean. However there were problems with the doors. The entrance door rubbed so tightly on the floor that you had to put your whole back to it to open or shut it. The bathroom door would swing closed unless blocked. The shower doors wanted to slide open. The AC wasn’t working when we arrived. We had to reset the GFI to get it to work. Then it operated but made the room humid. So, though the whole place was clean and nice, I wasn’t so impressed. We told the staff and they seemed unconcerned."

"This place is incredible. The hotel has done a wonderful job preserving its history and character while still making everything feel exceptionally clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Every detail feels both classic and luxurious, and you get the sense that you're staying somewhere truly special. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt different from a typical hotel stay. We loved that the valet personally walked our luggage up to our room. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the level of service throughout our visit. We also really enjoyed the patio and spent some time up there with drinks from the fantastic bar. The breakfast was one of the best meals of our trip. The robes, slippers, bath products, and all the little details exceeded my expectations. Everything about the experience felt elevated without being stuffy. The Capital Hotel was absolutely worth the extra money, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend."

"The best feature of this hotel was the view of the river and far shore, from our room on the eleventh floor. The worst feature was that the old, tired facility is undergoing a major repair/renovation, about which we were not informed. We, and other arrivals, found that we could not pull up to a porte cochere and enter the lobby. Instead, we were met by a construction site and orange fencing. There were no signs. There was no greeter to apologize for and explain the confusing puzzle of where to check in, unload baggage, park. When we did make it to the front desk, the receptionist was apologetic and helpful. The warm chocolate chip cookies he offered, together with clear instructions regarding parking and baggage handling, were received with gratitude. As to the room, it is hoped that the renovation will replace the stained carpets fatigued matresses and battered case goods. We loved the view and would stay here again when the update is complete."

"Overall, I had a good stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. My room was tidy, and I had no issues with cleanliness or comfort during my visit. The only drawbacks were that the pool was drained and unavailable during my stay, and the fire pit was also not in service. I was looking forward to enjoying both amenities, so it would have been helpful to know about these closures before arrival. Despite those disappointments, the hotel itself was clean and comfortable, and I had a pleasant stay overall. If the amenities are restored and available, I would consider staying here again."
