If you are looking for the only place worth staying in Belize, Shaka Caye is it. From the very moment I stepped off the plane, the staff made us feel like royalty. Their attention to detail is truly unmatched; they anticipate your needs before you even have to ask. The culinary experience was the biggest surprise of all. I have dined all over the world, and the food here tasted like I was eating at a 3-star Michelin restaurant. Every meal was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. A special thank you to Glenda and her entire staff. Their warmth and professionalism made our trip feel deeply personal and incredibly special. They don’t just provide a service; they provide a memory. I won't stay anywhere else in Belize from now on. Only accessible by boat, so if you want to get away from it all this place is for you! The rooms were very clean. The food was great! We stayed from Friday to Friday and all the food options were different from breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. My husband and I came here for my birthday and our anniversary. They made that day very special. They decorated the boat. Then in the evening we had a nice romantic decorated dinner by the fireplace. They came out singing happy birthday with a cake. It just felt like we were on a couple’s retreat. Oh and bring extra bug spray, aloe Vera gel and alcohol. Super helpful and friendly staff (who work so hard), food choices were great and liked how quiet and peaceful the small island is. So relaxing made it very hard to want to do anything! Only tip to add: if you’re a pasty white ‘gringo’, make sure to pack a decent insect repellent as when the wind drops and the sun is out, so are the sand flies. The staff recommend baby oil! We just returned after staying at Shaka Caye for the last week. 12/11/25-12/18/25\. We were blown away by the food, the accommodating staff, the island beauty, the tasty drinks, and the easy of walking around the island. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, the AC was cold, the bathrooms were well appointed with hot showers, hair dryers and a straightener. The twice daily housekeeping spoiled us. The mini refrigerator was in perfect repair and well stocked daily with sodas, water, and snacks. Our room had 2 robes for use during our stay. We truly enjoyed having access to the double kayaks and the paddle boards which were in good repair. Shaka Caye ‘s staff want to meet every expectation. I fell in love with the fryjacks that the chef prepared for us daily and I made mention of how I would love to learn to make them. The next thing I knew I had an invitation for a fryjacks lesson. We went on a private snorkeling tour with Edwin and he made every effort to show us interesting fish and inform us about the reef. It was such a privilage to have been spoiled by such wonderful people. Percy, Michael, Roddy, and Obey all helped make our stay special. We went snorkeling, booked a day trip to Alton Ha & the midnight cave, went deep sea fishing, Day trip to Caye Caulker where we petted nurse sharks, fed the tarpon, saw stingrays & enjoyed the shops & restaurants. We were well taken care of on all of the excursions & enjoyed the one on one treatment we received. The food was delicious & fresh! Every single meal was either delightful or delicious. Every staff member we met was incredibly friendly. We were the only guests on the island, and everyone still made it special. It was completely safe and relaxing. This place is incredibly beautiful, clean and quiet with the best service and staff. The food was absolutely amazing and all 3 meals can be served right to your cottage every day. They offer several different adventures to add on. One that we did was the private snorkeling tour with Andre at the mesoamerican barrier reef. I traveled with my elderly mother who wouldn't have been able to swim the reef, so they pulled her around with a life raft while she observed the reef. If you want a private Caribbean vacation without the crowds, book Shaka Caye.
