The construction upfront of building is not pleasant ( a little noisy in the mornings) and our driver had to park pretty far from main entrance. But we knew about possible construction (mentioned in reviews we read before) and decided to go with property because of a very good location of the apartment. Loved elevator as well. In general, we were very happy with our stay. I was surprised by how quickly you walk from one end of Baixa to the other so if you’re concerned about where in that neighborhood you are located it doesn’t make much difference. We walked Alfama, Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Cais do Sodre in a day. The apartment was well equipped and clean. Only minor issue was the little feet running around above us in the morning and night but it wasn’t disruptive enough to take off a star. You are in the heart of a vibrant city, there will be noise though the windows do a fairly good job of keeping out the street noise from below. It suited our needs well. On Rua da Prata one block over from Augusta, the main shopping street in central Lisbon. Close to 2 subway (métro) stations and a short walk to Praça do Comércio. There are literally dozens of restaurants nearby, tourist oriented, but still reasonably priced. The building is rather nondescript from ground level, with the entrance between a pharmacy and a retail store. From the promotional photos, the building diagonally across the street is quite pretty, but now, and judging from the current condition, for a long time to come, is wrapped in construction shrouds. Occasionally some construction noise can be heard, but seldom and only with the front windows open. Buzz the apartment on scheduled arrival. The foyer itself is not very welcoming. There is a small (very small) modern elevator. The door closes quickly, so watch yourselves. Two people and two suitcases would be maximum capacity. As is standard in Europe, the ground floor is floor 0\. The apartment is on floor 4, right beside the elevator (not a problem). The apartment itself is very spacious. The living/dining area is especially large. However, this area needs better lighting. Overall, the furnishings are dated but completely functional. There is a TV with multiple video and audio sources. Wi-fi service is good. The balcony is quite narrow. Watch children carefully out there. Not cheap but you cannot get more central in Lisbon. Easy access to markets, shops, restaurants, good sights, etc. Also, apartment is very clean and has AC and a good kitchen (grocery store two blocks away). Elevator is small (but common in Portugal and Spain) and balcony is super tiny. Check in requires security deposit and a tax of about 35 euros. It was a pain as I didn't have cash and couldn't recall my paypal account.
