The Travel Lodge by Windham was a pretty rough place to start with. The towel rack was broken and dangling, the sink leaked and water would run out on the floor, showing the cabinet was rotten from years like this. The tube had water trapped under it, so when you were standing on it, it felt like you were standing on a water bed. Outside we regularly saw Police driving through due to crime in the area. 1 of the guys we saw prowling the parking lot was arrested on the 3rd day.
The worst thing though, on the last night when coming back, I walked into an empty room. I was so startled that I walked out assuming I had gone into the wrong room. It was the correct room, so when I went back in it was cleaned, and all of our stuff was gone. I checked my reservation, assuming I had messed up and we were not booked to stay another day, but confirmation showed I was booked through the next day. I went to the front desk, who confirmed I was booked that day, but after that things went downhill. They called cleaning and they didn’t know anything. After standing in the lobby for 15 minutes panicking that all our belongings were gone in a town 1500 miles from home, 1 of the ladies finally went in back and saw that our stuff was in their "items left in rooms" bin. Retrieving them, I took it all back to our room, only to discover that one of our fancy electric tooth brushes was missing (left in bathroom), one of the $100 ones, fortunately not one of the newer $300 ones.
