The word "tinago" means hidden. And yes, literally, it is hidden. It sits in the middle of the woods. Since I cannot incorporate in one picture all the beautiful parts of this falls, I posted separate photographs with the same caption. There are two ways to get here. First is taking the 400-step stairs and the other is the 200-step stairs. No matter which way you choose, both are immensely EXHAUSTING! Whew! Just because it's only 200 steps does not mean it's easier than the former. It's a broken trail! The concrete stairs have been ruined by roots of old trees and plants, which make your journey even harder. Not to mention the cliff where you can fall off from if you don't watch out. Let me talk about the mystery behind this (I'm thrilled as I begin): the truth is that no one has ever measured the depth of this yet. Many people attempted to do so, but they ended up losing their lives. Locals of this place say that there are "beings" that live underwater and that they take lives every now and then. No one knows whether that is true or not. It's a hearsay. All I know is that Tinago Falls remains a mystery to the world. Below the rock formations are caves. And just behind that water curtain lies another cave. And then a few more everywhere. A number of people has seen it, but it required them first an immeasurable amount of courage before they were able to do see the caves. The last time I came here, I got a chance to talk to a 23-year old guy who lives around. He claimed to be one of the caretakers of the falls. He recounted several stories he has witnessed over time, such as hearing cries all over the place very early in the morning, seeing a friend of his jump off from the top and died head-on; and looking at people risk their lives by trying to swim deep down (then they never came to the surface ever again). The falls is overwhelming. Even I cannot stop staring at it despite having seen it already a thousand times in my life. I've heard that an aerial perspective of the lagoon/falls will you give you an image of just plain dark water. It may have appeared blue-green in the picture but from afar, it is black. Nonetheless, this place is best known for its relaxing atmosphere. The water is very cold -- so ideal for tropical countries like ours, especially during summer. People come here for picnics and picture-taking activities. I love this place. I can go on talking about it for hours. By the way, I've taken several friends here and they all said the same thing: "WOW!" I hope to also see this wow-expression on your face one day. You are most welcome in my city. We took around 436 Stairs going down towards the Falls, it was so tiring that I felt that Anyone would quit especially going up. When we arrived to the place, its sooo WORTH IT! The place is nice, they provide a Lifejacket with a Fee and also you can go under the Waterfalls using a Raft with a Small fee or you could go swim towards. #iligancity #thecityofmajesticfalls #asia #philippines](https://images.trvl-media.com/place/553248621562598113/7bf229f5-dc5c-4830-b7ff-b4f0ea6611b4.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=900&h=506&q=mediumHigh) #### Tinago Falls Commune with nature and explore the great outdoors at Tinago Falls during your travels in Linamon. It is sometimes called the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. It is a landmark of Iligan City, nicknamed the City of Majestic Waterfalls, because of the presence of more than 20 waterfalls in the city.It is located 9.3 kilometers away southwest of the city proper at the boundaries of Barangays Maria Cristina, Ditucalan, and Buru-un.Well known for its natural beauty and grandeur, the 320 - feet (98 meters) high waterfall is also the primary source of electric power for the city's industries.(Wikipedia) #thecityofmajesticfalls #iligancity #mindanao #philippines #asia](https://images.trvl-media.com/place/553248621532743587/7e1af02d-56a2-429e-b6da-4a482e6d7bfd.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=512&h=288&q=medium) ### Iligan ## Explore a world of travel with Expedia - Accommodation - Flights - Packages - Cars - Holiday Homes - [5 Star Hotels in Cagayan de Oro ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/5Star-Cagayan-De-Oro-Hotels.s50-0-d826.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) - [Aloran Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aloran-Hotels.d553248635924197212.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Alubijid Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Alubijid-Hotels.d553248635924197431.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Baroy Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Baroy-Hotels.d553248635924197683.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Baungon Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Baungon-Hotels.d553248635924197279.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Condo Rentals in Cagayan de Oro ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cagayan-De-Oro-Condos.d826-aaCondos.Travel-Guide-Accommodation) - [Beach Resorts & in Cagayan de Oro ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cagayan-De-Oro-Hotels-Beach-Hotels.0-0-d826-tBeachHotels.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) - [Hotels with Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cagayan-De-Oro-Hotels-Hotel-With-Restaurant.0-0-d826-thotelwithrestaurant.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) - [Wedding Hotels in Cagayan de Oro ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cagayan-De-Oro-Hotels-Wedding-Hotel.0-0-d826-tWeddingHotel.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels) - [Cagayan de Oro Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cagayan-De-Oro-Hotels.d826.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Lanao del Norte Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Destinations-In-Lanao-Del-Norte.d3000431686.Hotel-Destinations) - [El Salvador Hotels ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/El-Salvador-Hotels.d3000464012.Travel-Guide-Hotels) - [Hotels near F.S.
