Although the rooms are quite old, they are well maintained. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful, it was a delight to have my evening walks. The hotel is in a safe part of the city so it was easy to have walks and jogs nearby the hotel. The hotel rooms are more along the line of very comfortable 3 star in the U.S. (with some points of wear) than 5 star, but the atmosphere and service are the best I've experienced for solid business hotels in comparable settings. I'll take clean, comfortable rooms, lovely gardens, solid dining, and friendly, helpful staff every time. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely. The pool is clean. Transportation is easily arranged. The cafe is friendly and reliable. It was especially noisy during the night due to all the air conditioning units outside (ours wasn’t on) . The swimming pool, although a reasonable size, seem to cater for outside parties and day guests . This was a shame especially as and I found myself hunting for a chair, then losing it when i went for a swim! I booked a room for a friend who was arriving in the evening to Lilongwe so paid through Expedia so he could just arrive and rest but upon arriving at the hotel the hotel did not have his name on the system and he had to wait a long time and then he was given a sub standard room which he accepted because it was late at night so their booking system needs to be updated to a better system so that they have people's bookings on their computer to avoid these unnecessary delays when guests arrive . The food, service and cleanliness were very good. Sadly the lack of care and attention to bathroom details let this hotel down. Maintenance is required in most bathrooms. Showers don't work properly and toilets leak. If you book a double room for 2 people you have to ring house keeping in order to get a second set of towels. The toilet wouldn't flush, the sink wouldn't drain. Theres no power point next to the bed. The service at breakfast was poor as was the quality of food. The toilets next to Vincent's are old and in such a bad state for a nice restaurant.
