Beautiful fourth floor unit with King bed. Lovely resort with amazing pools! Beautiful resort and ocean views from the room!!! The Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort and Spa is a beautiful Hawaiian resort located on 25 acres of lush Garden Isle, centrally located between Kauai’s south and north shores, making it perfect for your island adventures. Only minutes from the airport, Costco, Walmart and Shopping. You will go thru a tree canopy lined drive that leads to the resort. Several acres of beach front property to enjoy and explore. On property there are four swimming pools, complete with water falls, a poolside cabana bar and grill, two jacuzzies, fitness center and day spa. Paradise will be your back yard! KAUAI RESORT AMENITIES • 4 swimming pools, including 2 lagoon pools, 75-ft lava tube slide, & kid-friendly sand bottom pool. • Two whirlpool spas, one amidst a stone grotto and surrounded by lush ferns and an exotic waterfall. • Two restaurants on site • Poolside Driftwood Bar and Grill • Free Wi-Fi access in lobby, restaurants, and the pool areas. • Hawaiian Rainforest Boutique Spa offering sauna, spa treatments, massages ect. • Concierge and activities/tour desk. • Hertz car rental agency on-site.. • ATM, ice machines, purified water machines and vending machines. • Fitness room • Business center with computer. • Fridge for your food, soda, wine, etc. • In room, blow dryer, ironing board. • There is a coffee maker in the room. However, the Hawaiian Cultural classes, which include classes like Hula and Lei Making are not included as part of your stay. \----------------------------------------------------------------- FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS IS THIS CONDO OR A HOTEL ROOM? Both. The resort was previously a Hilton hotel, the units are just like hotel rooms. However, they are privately owned “condotels”. The resort operates much like a hotel, and most guests are not aware that the units are privately owned. Most of the units are offered to the public through the resort or through travel sites at much higher retail prices. Although, a few are offered on VRBO at owner rates with access to the resort’s amenities. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RENTING ON VRBO vs. THE RESORT The $$$ price and also maid service. Renting direct through VRBO saves you a lot of money. However, daily maid service is not included. The cleaning fee you pay when booking takes care of cleaning and restocking the unit after your stay. DOES THE UNIT HAVE A KITCHEN? No. They do not have kitchens they were previously hotel rooms. ARE WE ABLE TO COOK IN THE UNIT? No. Local fire ordinances do not allow cooking in any of the rooms. The resort has a microwave in the lounge area on the 5th floor of Building 2 that can be used by all guests. WHAT IS THE RESORT’S BEACH LIKE? The resort is located on a 3-mile stretch of beautiful beach, amazing for long walks. The beach is very scenic but, is not considered a swimmable beach as it has a decent amount of coral. The surf is also unpredictable. It's best is to go to some of Kauai's many famous beaches for swimming. Lydgate Beach park is a nearby beach that is good for swimming. SHOULD I GET A CAR? We recommend that you have a rental car. The resort has most everything you need to have a wonderful time and relax. A car will allow you to experience many popular attractions, buying groceries, and going to many amazing restaurants etc. If you want a car for a day or two there is an on-site Hertz car rental agency. The rates are higher but it is an option for a short rental. IS THERE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT? No. The shuttle service from the airport is not available to our guests. The resort does offer free shuttle service to/from the airport for guests who book through the resort. Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort is close the airport which makes taxi prices more reasonable. Uber also operates on the island! ARE THERE BEACH TOWELS TO TAKE TO THE BEACH? Your stay includes 4 pool/beach towels. DOES THE RESORT CHARGE A RESORT FEE? Private owner guests are not required to pay the $35 daily resort fee. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DAILY PARKING FEE? Yes, if you have a car the resort charges $40/day for parking. The resort itself was nice--all the common areas and hallways were renovated (and didn't smell), and the pools were clean. Staff at the resort were very nice too. ##### Kyle A. I would suggest that in the bar the music was a little less loud so that you can have a conversation with people. The three restaurants were great options for staying on property. You can tell in its heyday this was a 5 star destination. It’s still a great property, but in need of updating. Excellent location on the island, only 10 minutes from airport and easy access to the rest of the island. Immaculate grounds. Excellent pools, but strong ocean currents make it a less desirable beach to swim at-use caution. ##### Jeff W. The staff was very friendly. We were really happy with the location. The only thing I would suggest is to have more chaise lounges around the patio. They could have used at least a dozen or more. The view from the room was perfect. There wasn't enough of hotel activities to do, I don't do yoga and we kept missing the lea making. I didn't like the fact that I had to take my own trash out. I enjoyed my stay there and would recommend to anyone and would stay there again as well. Pros:- wonderful resort amenities; several hot tubs, several pools, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for lounging, starbucks on site, beach access (though not swimmable, at least when we went in January)- resort staff was helpful and friendly- comfortable bed- enough beach towels and bath towels included- host was wonderful and let us have late check outCons:- Everything in the room was a bit outdated and somewhat shabby; would opt to stay in a room through the resort next time as I suspect they are more modern- 40 per day for parking (though this is pretty standard on Kauai, to pay for parking)- short drive to kapaa or lihue for foodd&drinks&entertainment; would prefer to stay in Kapaa next time so that we could walk to places rather than having to drive each timeOverall it was affordable, so pretty good value for the price ##### Carolyn L. But a very small resort not around much. It was ok for us because we had a rental car but without a car you might not have enough to do. Room was clean and big enough for two people. Was super windy when we were here and the weatherstrip on the door rattled all night. Needs to be replaced. If it wasn’t windy though we wouldn’t have known. Went up the road to coconut shopping center for dinner most nights. Breakfast buffet at resort was ok and we didn’t eat any other meals there. Staff was super friendly and concierge helped us with what to do and booked a tour. But you could have booked it outside the resort for less. Overall a nice place but not in a busy area. ##### Ted R. The view is wonderful, can see the pool and surrounding grounds (perfect to watch and listen to the hula show if you don’t go down to pool), and also a view of the ocean due to the higher floor location, which makes the room even better. It was very clean, and the larger refrigerator (than what you will find in the resort owned rooms) was well utilized. Communication with the host was timely and we never felt underprepared for our stay. The central location on the island makes a trip to any destination well worth the time, and the proximity to the airport is great. The beach at this resort isn’t a swimming beach, but if the weather agrees, the sunrises from the shore are amazing; depending on the time of year you may see the sunrise from the room. I do like you can charge the Driftwood Bar purchases to the room and settle up at the end of your stay . . . Not having to carry and worry about the wallet while down at the pool is a good thing. On our next trip, we will absolutely try to book this room again. ##### Michael B.
