Luxurious Lewes house and garden *stunning views *

Lewes Heights is ideally suited to guests wanting luxurious, elegant accommodation in a private and quiet setting in one of Lewes's most prestigious streets. With 6 bedrooms and two reception rooms, the house suits special occasions, reunions and family gatherings and comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests. Intimate yet spacious, and with its large landscaped south facing garden, the house provides an extremely rare Lewes combination of luxury and nature, coupled with far reaching views.

Lewes Heights is a very special property that our guests love. Beautifully furnished, and adorned with fine works of art, the house is intimate yet spacious, and is located in one of the most sought after areas of Lewes. Thanks to its location on a cul-de-sac, it provides tranquility and privacy during your stay.

Lewes is one of the prettiest historic towns in England, with a river running through it and centuries of fascinating history. Full of antique emporiums, boutique shops , and bustling cafes, there is something of interest for everyone. From the house to the centre of Lewes is just a 15 minute stroll and you are just a 5 minute walk away from the stunning South Downs National Park. The exciting city of Brighton and the world famous Glyndebourne Opera House are both approximately 15 minutes by car and many of our guests enjoy the nearby sea swimming site of Tide Mills, a 20 minute drive.

With over 2000 square feet of space, and two reception rooms downstairs, the house has a lovely generous feel to it, and there are large flat screen TV's in two different rooms, both with complimentary Netflix and Amazon Prime video. 250mb internet allows those needing to work, a reliable high speed connection.

Because the house sits on a corner plot, and has a southern aspect, the house and garden enjoy all day sun late into the evening. The mature trees, hedging and planting ensures a pleasing connection to nature during your holiday with us.

There is off-street parking for one car, and easy free parking on the street outside for further parking (no permit required).

Gatwick Airport is 30 minutes by car or train. And London one hour by train.

Two smart TV's with 250mb broadband, satellite TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video included, is on hand for your entertainment. There is a hi-fi in the sitting room with which you can plug your ipod or smartphone into for music.

The wifi reaches anywhere in the house so and there is a desk downstairs in the sitting room for any work that might need to be done.

The historic town of Lewes is situated in the South Downs National Park. Not only is it an area of exceptional beauty and culture, but Lewes itself is full of cafes, restaurants, antique shops and is the starting point for amazing walks along the South Downs Way.

Gatwick airport is the closest airport (about 35 mins away by car)

Glyndebourne Opera House is 3 miles a way, and the direct train to London takes about an hour from Lewes station.

Brighton is a 20 minute drive away, or 15 minutes on the train.

Walking is best.

No parties (Stag, hen or others) and no loud noise after 11pm. No smoking or vaping anywhere inside the house.

Leisure break
Excellent house of the highest quality in a great location. Benefits of town and country only a few paces away. Alex had thought of everything from large fluffy bath towels to folded linen napkins - the place settings for our first meal were even in position. Family joined us for the weekend as the house is so spacious. Alex also checked in after arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. He is the perfect host.

Friends get together
Lewes Heights is a lovely house more than we expected with lovely added touches. It was well situated although the walk up the hills back were a bit of a challenge, we are all fitter now. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Lewes. The owners were very informative and accommodating. Altogether a lovely break with great friends.

Outstanding in every way
The house is located in an excellent neighborhood, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and access to public grounds that enabled us to have wonderful walks when not otherwise busy. The walk to town is on a pleasant route that we loved. The house itself is very stylish and comfortable (exactly as described although even better), the garden is a delight, and the hosts were caring and communicative. We ate quite a few meals at home; the kitchen lends itself to cooking and serving. We enjoyed the gas fire, one of us had business calls and work and appreciated the separate study at the end of the garden. The children reveled in the books and puzzles and the adults found reading that made us want to stay longer. We have been coming to Lewes for years during Glyndebourne season and all agreed that we have just found a jewel.

Fabulous weekend away
We really enjoyed our short break at Lewes Heights last weekend. The house exceeded our expectations, it is beautifully furnished and includes lots of thoughtful extras such as store cupboard ingredients in the kitchen, lovely toiletries, well stocked book shelves and tea lights for added atmosphere in the evenings. Several of our party were particularly impressed with the super comfy beds and top quality bed linen. The property is ideally located to access the South Downs, we walked from the house to Ditching and we also visited Lewes and Brighton. The weather was glorious during our stay and we made full use of the delightful garden and patio area and were glad of the use of the parasol! We only wished we could have stayed for longer, thank you Alex and Gabrielle.

Our Peaceful Sussex Christmas at Lewes Heights
Our stay at Alex's house was memorable and we will be back as soon as time allows. As a family of five adults staying for the Christmas holidays, we found the house to be modern, comfortable, spacious while still feeling cozy, and well located in a nice neighborhood between the Downs and Lewes High Street. We were able to walk most everywhere we wanted to be in town. Alex's online guidebook was a steady reference of food and drink (The Swan Inn was our fave with a close second to The Jolly Sportsman), coffee houses (Flint Owl and Bills!) and inner workings of the property. It was as well done as we have seen in 20 years of VRBO's. He made our Christmas just like home with a decorated tree and a set table with traditional English poppers! The garden is lovely and we look forward to relaxing there in the summer upon our return. Thanks Alex - yours was a remarkable place to spend the holidays.

Amazing family property
Our stay at Lewes Heights was amazing. Alex is an attentive and considerate host, responding promptly to requests and offering suggestions for activities nearby. The house was perfectly laid out for our 3 generation family group. We particularly welcomed the second lounge which was ideal for teenage late night TV viewing, gaming and yoga practice! We also appreciated having the enclosed garden for games and the table tennis table. The location was great, close to the coast for swimming and watersports at Seven Sisters. Will we be back - I really hope so! There's still much to do. We didn't have time to walk the South Downs or investigate Lewes on our visit Thanks Alex and Gabrielle for making Lewes Heights such a comfortable holiday location. The house is so homely; much thought has gone into what visitors might need - things that other hosts often overlook - herbs, spices, an extensive selection of herbal tea. They were all very welcome.

Our Stay
Wow! What a treat staying at Lewes Heights was! We arrived thinking it would be nice, but it far exceeded our expectations and was like staying in a small luxury boutique hotel. Not only beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished, but modern and uncluttered and extremely comfortable. The house is full of thoughtful and helpful touches. From bubble bath to hair dryers, steam irons to bluetooth speakers (both wired and wireless), and the bathrooms are uber luxurious, with cavernous baths that really allow one to unwind and stretch out in. There is even a beautiful Yamaha US3 for piano lovers. Because of the spaciousness of the house and the number of rooms, even with the large number of us staying, we felt we had plenty of space to enjoy our time together as well as our own privacy. Further lovely touches were the immaculately laundered pure cotton white sheets and the huge bath towels to wrap up in. The kitchen had every appliance you could want, even including a Vitamix and the two reception rooms with TVs in both meant that when some of us wanted to chat, others could use the complimentary Netflix and Amazon Prime. Ultra-fast 200mb broadband was much appreciated by everyone. It was immaculately clean when we arrived, and Alex was immediately on hand to answer any questions via WhatsApp. He also supplied a beautifully put together online guide to the surrounding area including local walks, restaurants, days out, swimming spots and info about the house. It helped us with personal recommendations and meant we could book in advance for restaurants knowing that we were getting the benefit of local knowledge! The house itself is set in a wonderfully lush, private, and very sunny garden with extraordinary views out over Lewes. Because it is situated on a cul-de-sac, there was very little noise from cars, and we felt like we were in a very private and exclusive spot. Lewes Heights is ideal for a reunion of friends or family, or as a special holiday or occasion. Yes, you can of course get cheaper accommodation elsewhere, but as they say, you get what you pay for. And anyway, I shudder to think what we would have paid a 5 star hotel for 6 bedrooms per night! A fabulous property, which I heartily recommend.
