Les Monts d'Olmes

Check in was shown at 3pm however upon arrival reception was closed until 3.30pm. The apartment wasn’t clean. Thick dust in areas, toilets heavily stained, one bathroom we couldn’t use due to the drain smells and also the shower was broken. There were also big holes in the wall from where it looks like a towel rail had been removed and not replaced. The other bathroom had a shower over the bath but again this was tricky to use as the height adjuster was broken and we had to resort to using a peg to hold it at a reasonable height. We did tell reception and showed photos but they did nothing to fix it. The pool bar/snack bar was only open two days of the six we were there for. The showers at the pool didn’t work, the smaller pool wasn’t in action and had red tape round it. The BBQ area was taped over, presumably due to the recent weather but had it have been working I’m not sure I’d have used it as it looked unclean. I had to do some cleaning the day we got there and washed most of the cutlery and crockery I thought we’d be using. However, we did have a private garden area, it was very peaceful, the local town had some nice places to eat and the area is beautiful. The photos online probably show the resort in its heyday - it shows an indoor pool, exercise machines outside and tables with white linen ready for dining - this isn’t how it is. It has the makings of being somewhere wonderful to stay but at the moment feels run down and neglected.

Wonderful French chateau with a wonderfully friendly staff. We extended our stay here due to the charm and ambience as we head to Spain for the eclipse. The room is perfect, with the best bed we have experienced this trip and a lovely balcony. Breakfast was also great. Spectacular value for money. I highly recommend a stay here.

We had a nice stay. The hotel was very comfortable with a great pool in a lovely setting. For bikers, it’s off the canal along a busy road but very manageable and has a safe garage for storing bikes. The restaurant on premises is very pretty and the food and service excellent. A great stop along the Canal du Midi.
