Lovingly restored and extended, this award-winning cottage combines centuries-old character with contemporary luxury, creating a wonderful escape for families and friends.

The light-filled kitchen and dining space forms the heart of the cottage, with glazed doors opening onto the terrace and a striking glazed-roof link featuring an original well beneath glass. After dinner, sink into the sofas beside the wood burner and inglenook fireplace or find a quiet corner in the snug. Three double bedrooms sleep six, including a convenient ground-floor bedroom with en-suite wet room, while upstairs a luxurious bathroom features a freestanding double-ended bath and walk-in shower. Outside, the large private garden offers plenty of space to relax, dine and barbecue, accompanied by birdsong on warm Cotswold days.

Southrop itself is wonderfully peaceful, characterised by honey-coloured stone cottages, a traditional village green and historic St Peter’s Church. Stroll through the village to The Swan for a drink or dinner, then wander home beneath wonderfully dark country skies.

Nearby Lechlade-on-Thames is perfect for a leisurely day out. Browse its independent shops and antiques, stop for lunch or follow the river towards historic Halfpenny Bridge and St John’s Lock. This is the highest navigable stretch of the Thames, and exploring by boat offers a lovely alternative perspective of the surrounding countryside. Walkers can also join the Thames Path for beautiful riverside rambles through meadows and peaceful rural landscapes.

For a glimpse into the Arts and Crafts movement, visit Kelmscott Manor, the former country home of William Morris, or discover Buscot Park with its art collection, landscaped grounds and beautiful gardens.

The cottage is also well placed for exploring some of the Cotswolds’ best-loved towns and villages. Visit Bibury and its famous Arlington Row, wander Burford’s historic High Street or spend an afternoon discovering Cirencester. Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens makes a memorable family day out, while the lakes of the Cotswold Water Park offer walking, wildlife watching and a variety of outdoor activities. If you are a foodie there are numerous farmers markets and shops including Diddly Squat farm shop and pub and chic Daylesford.

Closer to home, simply set off into the surrounding countryside, stopping at pretty villages and welcoming country pubs along the way. Return to Culls Cottage for dinner on the terrace, drinks in the garden or a cosy evening beside the fire.

Recipient of VisitEngland’s 5 Star Gold and ROSE Awards, a Gold Green Tourism Award and Gold for Self Catering Accommodation of the Year 2024/25, Culls Cottage is a luxurious base for discovering this enchanting corner of the Cotswolds.
