Disappointing value: tired room, no dinner service, no warning We paid around €460 for two nights at Hotel Barbarich and, sadly, it didn't feel like good value. There were some positives. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was good, with pleasant staff serving it. Some of the other staff were noticeably less friendly, though. The room wasn't well cleaned. Some of the wooden skirting and fittings were swollen and damaged, and the bathroom sink taps leaked. There was no milk for the tea and coffee. These are small things, but at this price they add up. The advertised shuttle to Venice was fully booked, so we couldn't use it. The biggest letdown came on Monday evening. There was no restaurant, kitchen or room service at all, and nobody mentioned this when we left for Venice that morning. When we got back, the hotel offered no help or alternative beyond suggesting we order pizza on Deliveroo, which is what we ended up doing. A simple heads-up that morning would have let us plan dinner in Venice. With better maintenance, housekeeping and communication, this could be a pleasant stay, but it needs a lot of improvement to justify the price. The grounds were better maintained than the hotel.
