Haven Ridge cabin in the private New River Preserve community is an idyllic location for a secluded getaway for couples, small families, or a few friends. This cozy log cabin is a perfect place to rest and recharge, escape from a hectic schedule, enjoy nature, or celebrate a special occasion.
Antique and modern elements combine to create a unique mountain experience on this private 1.85 acre lot. The exterior features preserved circa 1882 logs, while the interior features reclaimed trim from a 1940s tobacco barn combined with modern construction. The covered screen porch is a guest favorite!
The property has 125 ft of private river frontage (the cabin is not directly on the water), just a short walk down the drive, below the cabin, is a grassy area, easily accessible and perfect for a picnic, fishing, kayaking, or just enjoy sitting by the water with a good book! Folding chairs are available for use at the cabin. This walk is a short distance down the gravel lane. The hike is steep but there is space directly below the cabin on the property to park a car if necessary while using the river space. ** SEE aerial view of property in photos

**Please note: the cabin is semi-remote, access is a gravel road, a front wheel drive is best, an All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended in inclement weather, there is easy parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles
The New River Preserve is a private community, and while is seems remote, it is located just 15 minutes from West Jefferson, 6 miles from the quaint town of Lansing. Both towns offer grocery shopping, good restaurants, specialty shops, easy walking and lots to see and do.
Boone and Blowing Rock are an easy forty minute drive from the cabin and worth a day trip visit. Grayson Highlands is also close by and has great non technical hiking trails, often the ponies are grazing along the trails.
We hope you enjoy your time in the North Carolina mountains!

Everything was excellent. The host was very thoughtful and had texted ahead of schedule anticipating our needs based off of the cold weather. The cabin was beautiful; it was well stocked and well maintained. We would stay here again, and several of my friends and family (after seeing pictures of our stay) have asked for the cabin information.
We had a wonderful time staying in this cabin! The cabin is very secluded and quiet but only about 25 minutes from shopping and restaurants. Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway! Everything was exactly as picture in the listing and very clean, and the host was very kind and responsive. We'd definitely stay here again!
Very nice cabin , short trip but had a nice time. The cabin was very comfortable and well stocked. The decor was beautiful and truly made it feel like a mountain cabin. We have no complaints.
Very charming private cabin tucked away, close to the New River. The cabin had exquisite character. Loved the screened in porch for happy hour after a day of hiking! The hot tub was a nice treat! The hostess thought of every detail to make our stay enjoyable!
This house is perfection in every way! The house is gorgeously decorated and fully stocked with everything you would need. All beds were super comfy. House was so clean! Hot tub was perfect temp, very clean and very relaxing!
Cozy cabin tucked away on the side a mountain above the river. Beautiful cabin! Owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect! I could live on the screened porch!
The cabin was perfect for our stay! Perfect location for us, it was very clean, both bathrooms and kitchen were very well stocked. Tracey went to great lengths to ensure we had a great getaway!
Beautiful house above the New River in a quiet neighborhood. The owners have thoughtfully planned for your perfect vacation with many amenities. We got exactly the peaceful vacation we wanted in the NC High Country. The screened porch was our home base with music in the background. Awesome!
My daughter and I spent the weekend here and found it to be exactly what we needed! My husband stayed one night with us and brought his kayak. He enjoyed floating and fishing in the river, super easy to access. My daughter and I loved the screened in porch and we all three enjoyed the hot tub. We hope to stay again sometime. Owner is super responsive and everything was clean and all we could have asked for!
The cabin was well-appointed and had great amenities. You can tell the owner cares about the property, and she was a joy to communicate with and gave us lots of great advice. One thing to note is that cabin isn’t right on the water, which we initially thought due to the pictures, but it was just a short jaunt to the water. It’s also remote as the description says, but that’s also part of the charm of it. We felt nicely secluded on the ridge and the screened in porch and hot tub and deck were great. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway!
What an amazing place to just leave the world behind! Perfect cabin and host…plus everything you need is thought of in advance. Saw more deer and wildlife than I could count…great weekend.
This was the absolute best and most relaxing vacation we have experienced in quite some time! The property was peaceful and immaculate! We were able to explore the surrounding area and then spend a restful evening in the screened in porch. The property was well stocked with all the supplies needed for our stay. The host had thought of everything and we are hoping to visit again in the fall.
What a great little cabin! It was a little tricky navigating the road in the dark but it was totally worth the mountain driving! We came to Lansing for a wedding and enjoyed the little town of West Jefferson and the gorgeous mountains. The owners were great at communicating and shared a lot of information about the surrounding areas.
Would love to stay agin!
This trip was for escape and relaxation. Exactly what I got! The screened in porch was wonderful, just listening to the sounds of nature and the river running below. The cabin was very well stocked and had a special welcoming basket with some goodies. The owners were very accomodating with offering a delayed check-in due to Hurricaine Debby. Closely located to West Jefferson and Boone. Very neatly maintained and exactly as pictured. Would definitely stay here again!
What a great cabin and get-a-way for us! Pictures don’t do the cabin justice inside or out! Prepare yourself to be wowed! The location of the cabin is perfect, high above the river below, perched perfectly in an open clearing. The sights/sounds are incredible w/ views of the starry sky at night, listening to the rumblings of squirrels running in the adjacent forests in the day, or watching the sun set from the screened in porch or from the amazing hot tub! The location is secluded/private, so much peace & quiet, leaving all the noise from the world behind. The cabin is welcoming & has everything you would need & more. You can tell the owners have spent time thinking of everything and keep it in top notch condition! So many different gathering spots whether it be in the comfy living room to watch television, or in the kitchen playing games at the table, or on the screened in porch to breathe in the fresh air & just relax, but also 2 other outside covered porches outside each bedroom, to the hot tub to relax tired muscles! Rustic but with modern touches. There are speakers in the living room, on the screened in porch & out near the hot tub so we had Christmas music playing day/night & loved this feature a lot! We spent the majority of our time playing board games & cards at the kitchen table, a favorite past time of ours!Communication with the owner was seamless. This is a must experience cabin. Thanks again for sharing such a special place with us!!
Excellent experience renting this cabin on VRBO. The cabin was awesome! It was beautifully decorated and we loved hanging out on the screened in porch!
Very charming property situated deep in the mountains of North Carolina. The property was very clean, organized and beautifully decorated. Plenty of thoughtful notes, labels and information sheets to help with the hot tub, audio/video and area attractions and businesses.
A super cozy cabin! This is really unique in its accents with an owner who has thought of all the little things. Everything was so smooth with great communication. We enjoyed a quiet weekend cooking, hot tubbing, napping. It was a peaceful weekend we didn’t want to end.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautifully decorated. Everything we could have needed was available. We just went to Ingles for food and cooked all our meals at the cabin. I fell in love with the screened in porch. I felt like i was in a tree house. My favorite spot was the outdoor couch. It's hard to believe it is early August and we could spend an entire day outside, even in the hot tub.
